"Well, I mean... guys like us, we're not exactly the type of people they write about in history books, you know? But the people we saved, they're our legacy."
“I agree. Round the clock surveillance. We can sleep in shifts.”

She stood up and stretched, and then her steps gentle, floated towards the window to eye out.

“I’ll take first watch when we start.”

She turned her back on the window and glanced around the room, still wondering who was footing the bill. She had certainly stayed in shabbier stakeouts for sure.

Shaking his head, "no, you rest. Even without the Force, I see how antsy you are about this. Rest and I'll wake you for your turn." Cedwyn spoke in a firm tone, there was no discussion on this and he believed that she needed to let her mind settle more so that she could concentrate better on the stake out when it was her turn. "If you can't sleep yet, go down to the reception and go see who paid for this room. I can tell that is also eating away at you and that won't leave your mind until it is answered."

Flinging his badge to her, "if they try claiming that they can't for privacy reasons, flash 'em that and tell them that this is a case and no civilians should know we are here so we need that information for security purposes." Cedwyn stated, while the badge and code was connected to him, few civilians were going to be focused on checking it was connected to the right person, the badge was legitimate and Kat had every right in knowing as much as he did working this case together.

So, he saw no harm in her having the badge for now. It was also a show of trust towards the Jedi Master that she wouldn't run off and cause trouble with the badge as well.

"Well, I mean... guys like us, we're not exactly the type of people they write about in history books, you know? But the people we saved, they're our legacy."

Katarine sighed and ran her fingers nervously through her hair. She would be happy when this was over and the nagging feeling that something was off would subside.

She left for the lobby, wandering the halls and only half paying attention to the decorations. She asked the front desk lady, who said she would check records and let Kat know, and the Jedi nodded.

While she waited she watched people coming and going, with no real interest in them. Something wasn’t right. She could feel it in the Force but she had no idea what it was.

A few moments latter she was carrying a print out in an envelope. When she got back in the room she placed it on the table along with his badge.

She sat down, opened the envelop and jumped up again.

“I don’t believe it.”

She handed him the paper. The room had been paid for by someone with the name of the original killer.

Checking the surveillance equipment was sorted and that footage of people moving in and out of the location was being captured correctly. Cedwyn was glad that Katarine listened to his advice. He did wonder if she was going to fight him on it, but suggesting to figure out who was staying here probably helped his case for first watch. The Echani grabbed some gum and started chewing. An alternative to smoking since he did not think Katarine or the hotel staff would be thrilled with the cop smoking in the room. Even though he needed something to avoid feeling so antsy and allowing the thoughts to resurface. Being around a Jedi again was bringing back memories.

When Kat returned, he looked over to her, "everything is looking okay here for now." Cedwyn reported. Seeing her sit down to only then immediately stand back up, handing Cedwyn the letter. It showed that whoever paid had given the killer's original name. "Well, that does seem to be worst case scenario with that. The killer's actual name... Was that public record? Can't be a lot of people who know this name and to know to use it like this, right?" Cedwyn pointed out to Kat.

Stepping over to his bag, the Echani grabbed his pistols, rifle and pulled out his Lightsaber. Holding it for a moment in his hand, it had been a long time since Cedwyn had held his Lightsaber. While his skills with a blade were not dull, just as sharp as ever due to training with other weapons. It was strange to be holding his actual Lightsaber once again. Something that was not filled with the best of memories. But then little in his life was.

"What are your thoughts? Staying here is a bad idea since he knows where we are."

"Well, I mean... guys like us, we're not exactly the type of people they write about in history books, you know? But the people we saved, they're our legacy."

“It’s probably a trap… or a game… because you are right the killers name was not public.”

She sat down and rubbed her forehead.

“It’s the only lead we have though.”

She sat back in her chair and hung her head back, letting her long brown hair fall over the back of the chair.

“Your call.”

Making sure his weapons were securely placed on his person, Cedwyn nodded his head to Kat, she confirmed that the name was not made public. "So, this means one of two things, either this is not a copycat, or this is someone has some deep connections to the case like you." Cedwyn breathed in deeply as he used the Force to sense the surroundings. While they had previously checked for bugs and thought the room was clear, Cedwyn figured that this was some trap that they needed to delve deeper into what their surroundings had entailed.

"Not much of a lead, only informs us that they know we are here and this stake out is a bust. We need to figure out how they had the money for this room, if we can trace the spending and figure out how they knew we were coming." Looking over to Kat, he dropped the Force Sense as he hadn't really discovered anything in the room through it at the moment.

"Who did you tell about this besides myself?" Cedwyn asked, if this was truly just a mission between them then no one should know that they were heading here. No one would be able to predict they would be staying at this exact hotel. There was no coincidences and luck was beyond the scope of explanation for this situation.

Moving around the room, Cedwyn started opening drawers and rifling through things to see if there were any clues placed in the room now. "I don't like traps or games. Best approach is figuring this out before he thinks we can and flip the trap back on him. I doubt he is prepared for the skills that I bring to this case. Even if he thinks he knows everything about you." Someone like this probably didn't think that Cedwyn would be the danger that he was, the trained assassin that he had been and still had the skills of.

"Never Hide Your Heart"
“I haven’t told a soul. Not even the Jedi Council would know where I was staying. We keep limited records for undercover work.”

There was a chaotic energy radiating off him that made her frown. Suddenly his face seemed a lot deadlier than it had before. Clearly he was upset about this situation and she felt bad for dragging him into it.

She watched him going through the drawers and the closets and when he moved one of the hangers a business card fell down.

“What’s that?”

((Making this up as I go. Feel free to as well! ))
