Out of Character Information
  • Intent – To create a unique character species to support story line
  • CanonClawdites
  • Links: Ankhypt
General Information
  • Name - The Therianthrope aka The Therians
  • Designation - Sentient
  • Home world - Ankhypt
  • Language – Basic, Anubian
  • Average Lifespan – 150 years
  • Estimated population: Semi Unique (an extremely small number, first or last of its kind)
  • Description - The therianthrope are a species of unique full bodied shifters. Their physiology allows them to manipulate light and shadow to be able to mimic the appearance and voice of any person with precision. Their natural appearance however is dull and lackluster easily overlooked or avoided. Their natural appearance can includes dove gray, death blue, or jet black colored skin, with opalescent eyes, and usually thick white or black hair covering their head.
Therianthropes can do the similar organic forms but not animals, or clothing, nothing inanimate. They need only to see what it should look like and the triggers within their body are able to adapt and reproduce the effect. They can create a new personal look it does not have to be the image of someone they see. It would be no effort to mimic the shape and size of a body yet change the hair, skin and eyes to fit in.

Therians can have children however the children do not inherit any of the traits and talents of the therian only of the other parent. It is believed that a therian child can only be born of two therian parents. Until a time when two therians exist much of this information is speculation.
Physical Information
  • Breathes – Type 1 atmosphere
  • Average height of adults – 1.778 meter (approx. 5’10)
  • Average length of adults
  • Skin color – dove gray, death blue, or black
  • Hair color – pure white or jet black
  • Eye color – opalescent always
  • Distinctions – Within 3 days of their birth their skin changes from the healthy flesh tones to one of the shades indicating the transformation to a therian.
  • Races – The Therianthrope are native to Ankhypt.
Strengths
  • Can mimic any organic creature of the same form with precision
  • Prone to be force sensitive
  • Thinks logically but is often ruled by emotion
  • Tolerate the high heat of the desert
  • Therians are combat trained by the Mau to be skilled warriors and leaders as part of their indoctrination to what it means to be a Therian.
Weaknesses
  • A one year absence from Ankhypt and their abilities begin to diminish. They begin to lose their ability to shift, or to hold onto a form. Only a return to Ankhypt would restore their natural gifts.
  • If they have been away a year they must stay 3 months on Ankhypt to have their abilities fully restored. The first month of recovery they are so violently ill it could take their life.
  • Their strongest connection to the force is when they are on Ankhypt however if they do travel away from Ankhypt their force abilities could be strained without proper training
  • Unable to tolerate cold weather their limbs become stiff and easily breakable like fine porcelain dropped and shattering on the ground. Something in their physiology breaks down the cohesiveness of their form.
  • Do not realize their own mortality which can often lead to rash decisions with costly consequences.
  • God complex complicated by being the only of their kind
  • Can have children but they will not inherit any of the characteristics of the Therian but can inherit characteristics of the other parent at a half strength hybrid.
  • Therians in combat can mirror the strength of the species they take the form of however there is a time limit to how long they can maintain the strength portion of the shift. In their natural form unless they have trained to be physically stronger they would be equal to a human.
Culture
  • Diet – They have found nothing they are not able to eat.
  • Communication – A therianthrope can project their thoughts and will onto those around them. They do not have to utter words to be heard but they do enjoy the sound of their own voice. They can communicate vocally.
  • Technology Level – They have access to all the latest technology
  • Religion Beliefs – The therianthrope are worshiped like gods due to their unique abilities and the rarity of their birth. The Mau promote and maintain the worship however the therianthrope only worship themselves and truly believe they are gods. They believe that the planet gave birth to the Therians.
  • General Behavior – They are a haughty group born into riches. They believe they are entitled to anything they want
Historical Information

The first one born was seen as a demon creature unwanted and left to die on the sands of Ankhypt. The religious order however needed bodies to serve their gods and began accepting the children as offerings raising them to be slaves.

While the first few died without ever having seen a full year of life without understanding what life was. In time they grew stronger and began to survive, and they watched their task masters. Their hatred of the order grew with each therian born and raised within the Temple walls.

During these times their gifts began to emerge frightening at first but in time useful not only to the therian but to the religious order.

The religious caste saw it as opportunity to boost their order, and their numbers. Until Ahmonet was born. She was used to manipulate benefactors, tradesman, and even the household of the Pharaoh to gain favors and fill their coffers. She realized that if the Priests could do it, so could she for her own benefit.

Ahmonet formed her own plan she spent the first 20 years learning and testing her powers seeing what she could do. Imitating everyone waiting to see if she would be caught and punished when no punishment came she knew it was time. Over a course of 50 years she plotted to murder those who would not support her vision, and replace them with those that would she murdered anyone who didn’t agree with her. After 75 years she had a devoted order that would do her bidding she called them The Mau. The Mau that integrated all the species of Ankhypt, Anubians, Humans, and Cathar.

Ahmonet spent her entire life forging a path for those to come after her. She didn’t know exactly how her species would do but she decided her species would survive. Her power grew with each passing year but it took most of her life to establish the tools, the Mau, and begin preparing for a future she would never see.

The Mau became the guardians of the Therians. Each were rewarded for their devotion and service to Ahmonet. She knew that she would need to prepare the way for others of her kind. But in her lifetime no others were found. Either the babies were being killed or she was to be the only one.

If a Therian is born without force sensitivity they are not seen as a true god. But as a demi God meant for a purpose that has not been identified yet.

As she approached her 150th birthday she felt her power begin to wane her body began to show the traditional signs of aging. That’s when she knew another was coming that her time was ending. She could see the child in visions see the future and what she saw pleased her. In the time she had left she ensured the continuation of her species and instructed the Mau to document everything to teach the next child it wouldn’t take a lifetime to achieve power any more. Each child born would learn the history and never forget how they were treated and who it was that had to pay for it.

Within three days of Ahmonet’s death another was born and brought to the temple. And so it is the practice the family which brings the newborn is rewarded and the child raised to be the new God/Goddess. It is never known whether the next will be male or female. On the day that there is one of each born will be when the new dynasty and era begins for the Therianthrope. It should also be noted that the parents were never seen again leaving some to wonder if their reward was death. A mystery that only the Mau and the Therians can answer.

It is rumored that there is a spirit / entity that inhabits the core of Ankhypt. This spirit so wanted a child that it created the Therianthrope and that is why they are strongest when on Ankhypt and why they have such close ties to the planet. The Therians have adopted this belief that they are the true children of Ankhypt.

Apologies for the delay here.

I like your concept here, shifters are interesting and there is solid canon precedent with the Clawdites.

A couple things we need to address, the first one may be disappointing but I am willing to work with you to find a solution. I understand that this species is semi-unique, but you seem to be submitting a race of fully force sensitives, which is unfortunately against rule 4 of the species creation rules.

4. Completely Force sensitive/dead species may not be submitted except in the case of a Staff sanctioned challenge/contest reward or with explicit permission from Staff.
We can find a middle ground here I think, such as this species being highly prone to Force sensitivity. But I do need you to modify some of your strengths and language throughout the submission to indicate that not every Therian is Force sensitive.

The second thing is not as big of a concern, but I am curious to know this species' relative average strength when compared to something like your standard human. I think you've done a good job of balancing their shifter abilities with good weaknesses, but I'd like a little more information in the sub about how they are in combat.

Looks solid to me! :) Enjoy your shifters, death is only the beginning.
