There is Hope in the Dark (part two: The Wedding)

The sight of her offering up a piece of her skirt amused Jarven. He couldn't help but smile. He wiped his face and said, "Thank you. I'll fight hard to be deserving of your family."

He was much calmer, now. He turned back to the drinks and tried to help Ren find one that she liked. "I don't know what any of these drinks are...so what's your favorite color and we'll go from there?..." A smirk came to his mouth.

Renesri smiled in return and thumped the large man's arm playfully. "That's the spirit, uncle Jarven." She said laughing slightly. She moved back to the drink table, "I don't know. One with less fruit and more alcohol."

...Jarven froze with a smile on his face. He stiffly turned his head around to face her, that stupid smile still on his face. He said, "Less fruit and more alcohol is your favorite color???..." He tried to stifle a bout of laughter. "If you say so. I hear that beer tastes like rancor pee, so what color do you think THAT is?" He chuckled for a short stint.

Guest
11:45 P.M.
The master of ceremonies walked out casually and invited the guests to sit down as the wedding began in a loud yet soft voice. As soon as everyone was seated William walked down the aisle slowly and solemnly, though his blue eyes were shining like the blue moon that shown down that night, his black tuxedo almost blending into the shadow of the tree. He walked up to the pastor, who stood in front of the base of the tree, bowed, then took his place to the left of the pastor. A quiet and beautiful song began to play as Asteria began to walk down the aisle in her beautiful wedding gown.

11:50 P.M.
The pastor finished the greetings and began the ceremony. Asteria turned and looked up at William as he turned and looked down at her, both smiling.

"We are gathered here together, under the light of the sacred full blue moon and the celestial stars, to celebrate the joining of these two spirits as one through the sacred binding of marriage. May the two lovers turn and hold hands."

Asteria and William gently grasped each other's hands, staring into each other's eyes.

"William, you may proceed with the reading of the groom's vows."

The pastor stepped back after handing William a microphone.

"Asteria, I still remember the first time I saw you, the young girl who made me into the person I am now even when others tried to put you down. When you were captured and everyone had been told that the whole royal family has been murdered, my life spiraled downward into despair. Seeing you alive again, searching for me gave me new life. The least I can do to pay you back is love you until my dying days by giving you this ring." Tears sprung up in Asteria's eyes as William delicately slid the woven silver band onto her finger and just barely kept her voice steady as she began to say her vows.

"Wh-when I first saw you, I thought there was no way for me to love you, but had I ever been so wrong. That last night on the roof of Castle Falornel, when you pledged your undying love to me, I became completely honest with myself; I loved you more than the stars, and the next day when I was forced to watch millions of our people slaughtered, I thought you had been killed. The depression that resulted of that thought almost killed me, but when I found you again, it saved me, and I'm returning the favor with this ring." Asteria slid William's golden ring onto his finger, signaling the pastor to come forward again, bearing two wine glasses of the wedding tea; Ethalos leaf and peppermint steeped into a tea. Asteria and William each took a cup as the pastor tied a sash around the glasses. After the sash had been tied, the two lovers drank from their glasses, gave the empty glasses back to the pastor, and turned towards each other once more.
11:58 P.M.
"The vows have been stated, and the cups of unity have been drained. William, do you take this young woman to be your bride? For all of eternity and the afterlife, through thick and thin, through trial, war, sorrow, and joy?"

"I do, with all my heart."

"And Asteria, do you wish to take this young man to be your husband? For all of eternity and the afterlife, through thick and thin, through trial, war, sorrow, and joy?"

"I-I do."

"Then by the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. William, you may now kiss the bride."
12:00 A.M.
William cupped Asteria's face with both his hands and kissed her passionately, and when they broke apart, Asteria had tears of joy in her eyes as William led her back down the aisle, their first steps as husband and wife.
