- Advanced Scanning Systems: As listed above, the ship has a sizeable amount of different scanning systems for understanding geological movements on the planet, biological signatures, and even processing contaminants in the atmosphere before entering and has systems designed around viewing areas from a long-range all in the hopes of helping in surveys.
- High Speed and Mobility: While the ship lacks any real defenses or offensive capabilities that would make it impressive, it makes up for that in the somewhat superior speed for its somewhat sluggish-looking size and shape, being able to outrun most ships.
- Long-lasting capabilities for space travel: Finally, the most helpful strength for the ship comes with its somewhat self sustaining features as thanks to the greenery on board due to the laboratory, and the advanced life support systems, it can stay in space longer than the average ship, without of course needing to touch down on a planet to either re-supply or re-fuel. Next to that, the cargo bay also holds an impressive amount of food and supplies to sustain the crew, or just Jaya in times of need.
- Poor defensive systems: Aside from the ok shields, the point defense cannons have a limited firing arc, and can only defend the weaker sides of the ship - and are useless against attacks from the bottom of the craft, making defense of this science vessel a difficult adventure.
- Lackluster offensive capabilities: While not completely defenseless, the ship can only fire forward and backward from the very top - and the turret requires a co-pilot to use due to it having no automatic systems. The point defense cannons also lack an advanced guiding system decreasing their accuracy systems exponentially.
- Weakside and bottom sections: Due to the ferroceramic sections of the ship, the sides and bottom have become weaker to incoming ship fire, as the durasteel plating and stronger armor were focused on the top, front, and rear of the ship.
DESCRIPTION
Therefore, it wasn’t long though after 1-2 years of using the put-together ship Jaya looked into some upgrades. Likewise, it began with communication and scanning technologies. She knew that if she put all her money into possibly having the best scanners capable of her, it would cut down her risk factor when entering into a dangerous environment, therefore with that she put her credits into that and upgraded that system. Nonetheless, over the span of 2 more years, it was more of the same, with upgrading the interior, the shielding, adding two weak Point defense turrets, and finally, upgrading the engines exponentially. Therefore, by the end of her master's degree, she had a pretty impressive ship.
Finally, as she progressed through her doctorate, her ship went slightly un-used and some systems had to be scrapped like her advanced shielding core which she replaced with weaker shields to compensate for the aging reactor. However, by the end of her doctorate she began her project on incorporating a hull repair system by using the nanotechnology she began developing when in her doctoral studies, sadly though, the project was never put into play and has gone unused to this day. In the present, the ship acts technically as her home as the laboratory is where she spends most of her time, and all her belongings and goods are placed in her quite nicely furnished personal quarters.
