Description:

Although the exterior of the Wayward Spirit has remained largely untouched from its original enamel scheme, a majority of the changes that were made to the starship revolve around it’s internal systems. In traditional Republic Engineering fashion, the entirety of the vessel was wholly automated - which drastically reduced the operational personnel count to a single organic being. The ship was controlled by a single computer core, which housed a network of droid brains and slaved systems - creating the framework for a pseudo-Artificial Intelligence; allowing for the starship to develop its own personality overtime. The interior decor was in keeping with the traditional standard of the Corellian Engineering Corporation, as the bulkheads were largely exposed; revealing the orderly wiring and pipes. What differed from the original design, however, were the Crew Quarters and the other occupied areas. They received a modern makeover, with a traditional enamel coating, to make those chambers seem like they belonged - despite their various advancements and top-of-the-line upgrades.

While initially designed as a customization for the Imperial Navy of the Galactic Empire, the C-ROC Gozanti-Class Cruiser found itself rejected due to the vessel’s inappropriate status within their rigid Order of battle. Not wanting the schematic to go to waste, the original architects of the starship watched as their design became favoured by legitimate and illegitimate operations alike in the Outer Rim Territories. However, the C-ROC wasn’t popular enough to be considered widely successful, thus regulating the vessel to endure centuries of updates and fabricated replacement parts. It wasn’t until long after the twilight hour of civilization that the Corellian Engineering Corporation picked up where their ancestors left off - merely perpetuating the cycle of mediocrity. Thus, the stars were populated with dozens of the C-ROC variants and becoming a crucial lynchpin in several navies along the fringes of civilization.

The vessel that would one day bear the name of the Wayward Spirit counted itself amongst the small collection of starships that stalked the edges of the known universe. There was an inexplicable event that occurred sometime after sentient life returned to the stars after the Gulag Plague receded from the stars. The data banks were wiped clean, and the interior of the starship was eerily silent as the first of the salvage crews began exploring the spinal corridors of their newfound prize. All the escape pods were still nestled in their cradles, and there was no sign of any struggle or strife aboard. It was as if the crew simply abandoned the vessel and let it drift amongst the stars - hoping that someone out there would find the starship and make better use of it.

Which ultimately led to one of the technical architects of the Republic Engineering Corporation purchasing the ancient C-ROC vessel at an auction, before electing to overhaul the ship to meet modern standards. The woman, whose name shall be withheld for security purposes, believed that this ancient starship had more to offer - but needed a “fresh coat of paint” to be considered serviceable once more. So, after taking a week’s worth of time off the company clock, this nameless woman ended up revitalizing the starship and presented her personal project to the Board of Directors themselves, which netted favourable results. The Company liked to keep itself neutral in whatever conflicts embroiled the galaxy and held an amiable standing with several factions populating the stars.

Thus, with this newly overhauled starship situated before them - they couldn’t help but see all the potential customers that lived beneath the Outer Rim Coalition’s sphere of Influence. Like their spiritual ancestors, there was a possibility that they could grow attached to this ancient, and reinvigorated design once more - and purchase them by the crate-load.

All that remained was to deliver the prototype to someone of renown, who’d likely inspire these potential customers to request more starships like the soon-to-be christened Wayward Spirit. So, the technical architect found herself meeting with several planetary officials within the Coalition and was given a name - Starchaser - that was allegedly a common, and a household name amongst the Fringes of civilization. Thus, the woman set off to meet this fabled Starchaser. Her quest was relatively short, as she ran into a man by the name of Starchaser at a local Cantina when the woman stopped in to ask around. They shared a drink or two, but when she left - she left behind the encrypted keys of the christened Wayward Spirit behind. She believed that her quest had led her to The Starchaser - not the offspring that this mysterious figure proved to be.

Alas… the requirements of her tasks were complete, and she delivered the starship as promised. It mattered little to which Starchaser that the Wayward Spirit was bequeathed too - so long as it was apart of their ever-lasting dynasty.
