Private The Ways of Wanderlust

Loomi Loomi

Tirin had been dedicating his days to aiding the recovery efforts on Coruscant, a planet still reeling from the ravages of war. Each day, he worked alongside Valin for several hours, navigating through the wreckage. Together, they searched for missing persons and recovered the bodies of the deceased, all the while clearing and organizing the debris. The task was monumental, with much ground to cover before they could even think of rest.

Fresh out of the shower, Tirin felt clean and rejuvenated. He dressed for the evening, taking extra care in his appearance. Understanding the gravity of recent events, he had eased the usual formalities at home. That night, he prepared dinner for everyone, a simple gesture that brought a semblance of normalcy and comfort to the household.

After dinner, Tirin retreated to the observatory. With a cup of tea in hand, he settled into an armchair. The quiet space and the night sky beyond the glass offered a moment of peace, a brief resting moment from the chaos of the day.

As Tirin sat down with his tea, a young Godoan slowly poked her head around the corner of the observatory. The flutter of her wings certainly would have given her away, if not the flutter of her violently loud heart. Loomi was, as she so often could be, uncertain about her path. Was this even the right thing to do? Leaving seemed so... wrongm especially given that the New Jedi Order had given her everything she could have ever wanted. Yet even so her heart seemed to ache, as though something wild beyond the core was calling out to her.

Certainly Tirin would never let her leave, not while her training was incomplete. Loomi didn't know if another temple out there would even have the support she needed, let alone the teachers to provide her with tutoring.

But she needed to go.

"M-Master Tirin, sir..." Loomi began with a soft tone. "May... I ask something of you? I-I'm not certain you'll... approve of my request."

Tirin set his cup of sea tea aside, his gaze shifting towards Loomi. He observed her with a calculated thoroughness, noting the subtle slump of her shoulders and the hesitance in her movements—clear indicators of distress. Despite his typically reserved demeanor, he recognized the importance of offering solace.

"You can speak freely here, without fear of judgment," Tirin began, his voice low and steady, designed to put her at ease. "Come, join me." He gestured to the plush sofa beside him, his movements deliberate, aiming to bridge the gap his analytical nature often created. As he patted the seat, his eyes softened, an attempt to make the space beside him more inviting.

"Let's discuss whatever burdens you," he added, adjusting his posture to appear more approachable. "You're not alone with your thoughts here. What weighs on your heart and mind young one?"

"Well..." Loomi began, adjusting her sash. "I... wish to depart. M-Master Kai'el and Braze are leaving for the Outer Rim... I... w-without Aliris..."

Loomi sighed, turning her head. Was this a purely selfish thing? She was leaving because she didn't want to be alone. That wasn't very Jedi like, not that she could tell. Yet even so, she'd be leaving to preform the duties of a Jedi somewhere else, right? There was at least some good that could come out of this, and most certainly planets out in the rim who needed Jedi. This should be, for all intents and purposes, a good thing.

But her intentions...

Loomi shook her head, recomposing herself. She had to do this.

"I wish to leave with them."

Tirin could tell there was something weighing on her some inner turmoil. He could see it in her expression he could hear it in her voice. He listened to the nervousness in her tone and how unsettled she was. Her home world was in ruins and her friends were drifting appear or growing up.

"What will you do in the outer rim with them?" Tirin asked gently with a touch of curiosity to his tone.

"What will you do in the outer rim with them?"

"They're going to go help free planets," Loomi stated. "There are a lot of places that are suffering because of that Empire... I-I've been to some of those planets too."

She sighed, hanging her head. There was something more here, something beyond just wanting to follow Braze. It was the memory of her past, being whisked away and forced to do the bidding of an all powerful thing that was beyond her control. It was almost like looking in a mirror. The Godoan couldn't bare to think the thought of other people in such a position...

"I... was like them," she muttered. "T-taken away from everything... Forced to... to serve cruel gods. I-I don't just want to do this for me. I want... I want to stop what happened to me from happening to other people. Give them..."

A heavy exhale passed through her lungs.

"Give them what I'll never get back..."

Tirin listened attentively, absorbing every word with a thoughtful nod. "Well then..." he began, weighing his response carefully. "I believe that pursuing this path could be very rewarding for you. If you feel that you will find enjoyment and fulfillment in it, then you have my full support to proceed. It won't be easy and a lot of the time it will feel like your efforts are un-noticed and un-sung. " he said, his tone carrying a mix of encouragement and solemnity.

"Despite your best intentions, your actions might lead to unexpected challenges. Sometimes, helping someone can end up causing you trouble, or even get you blamed when things go wrong."

He sighed lightly. "That's why they say 'no good deed goes unpunished.' It's a way of expressing the frustration when trying to do something good leads to less-than-ideal results."

He paused for a moment, his gaze firm yet caring. "However, I have one condition," Tirin added, his voice steady. "Take Valin with you. You're still young, and while I trust your judgment, I want to ensure that you're well looked after. This could be beneficial for both of you." he concluded simply, his decision clear and final.
