OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Turn an underused PC into an NPC
  • Role: Grandmaster of the Blades
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: N/A
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Age: Early 50s
  • Force Sensitivity: Master
  • Species: Echani-Sephi
  • Appearance: a beautiful woman, looking half her age, like all Echani Sala has a pale, porcelain complexion, though her pointed ears and heterochromatic gold and blue betray the mixed Sephi heritage that gives her natural longevity. Standing at a tall 6'2", with a an almost amazonian body type, she is rather intimidating on the battlefield and off of it.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Grandmaster Sala Corsanis
  • Loyalties: Ashlan Military Order of the Sacred Blades
  • Wealth: Well-Off
  • Notable Possessions: Lucignis, the Revealing Fire of Ashla
  • Skills: Master Swordswoman, Master of Force Light
  • Languages: Basic, Huttese, Echani Battle Language
  • Personality: Sala is a zealous and stubborn woman who always has strong opinions on right and wrong, dark and light, and will never back down when she makes those opinions. Though she appears headstrong and indomitable in battle, she can also often appear grief-stricken over her past (and over her origins).
COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Weapon of Choice: Lucignis, the Revealing Fire of Ashla
  • Combat Function: Sala is an expert of combat with her force-imbued sword, using her speed and strength in a Djem So-esque attack on her enemies, relentlessly attacking in an ever-faster chain of attacks, drawing from the force to strengthen herself and enhance her speed.
  • Force Abilities (Force Users Only): Sala Corsanis is strong in the force and as such knows many force abilities, especially Sense and Control abilities like Force Sense and Art of Movement. Most important, however are the two skills she has sharpened and trained and honed to a hairsplitting edge in Force Light and Force Weapon, which she uses in tandem to great effect, channeling them through Lucignis to strike with all the glory of Ashla
Strengths:
  • Famous Champion: Being the third daughter of a higher caste Echani matriarch, and born into a house with a history of battling with dark-sided force users, and serving as the Grandmaster of the Order of Blades Salas is highly skilled in martial skills, including her ancestral martial arts form, Teras Kasi, and in several forms of swordsmanship (as well as some lightsaber forms, though she doesn't use a lightsaber).
  • Amazonian: Born from a genetically engineered Sephi whose species has been experimented on for years by the Arkanians, and an Echani Matriarch who is not only naturally fit, but expects her own children to maintain strong, combat-ready physiques, Sala is the absolute picture of health, seemingly built for war, and well equipped for the rather long life her Sephi heritage will grant her.
Weaknesses:
  • Guilt-Struck: In the act of defending her family and their retainers from the treacherous and insidious taint of Bogan, Sala was unfortunately forced into the situation of killing one of her cousins. While her family understands the necessity of her actions, Sala forever carries the guilt and grief at having shed her own blood and has exiled herself from Eshan as penance, followed by a few retainers and a few who wish to learn her style of combat.
  • Overconfident: Wise and skillful as she is, Sala is often far too overconfident in combat, assuming that she can overcome absolutely any trial that gets in her way. While this is very often true, she can also often be proven wrong, and with her aggressive, offensively-focused fighting style, this can have devastating consequences against an insightful enemy.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Sala Corsanis has had a storied history, covered in glory and disaster, honor and ruin, triumph and guilt. She was born the result of a sordid and licentous affair between a heavily genetically engineered sephi – the result of millenia of experiments on his race by the Arkanians 0150 – and an Echani Matriarch. Living with this over her head defined most of her childhood, as while her echani family accepted her into their ranks and did not hold their Matriarch's unfaithfulness against her, many other Echani did throughout her childhood, and would all but ignore her as an outsider.

It wasn't long before Sala would grow into a bright and very skilled young woman – though her physical growth would take time to match her as her sephi heritage had granted her an extended longevity, and it was almost certain she'd live at least twice as long as her brothers and sisters. Trained in the arts of the Echani and raised in the Ashlan faith of her house, she began to wander Echani space, offering her assistance and protection to others, similar to the Jedi. This would lead to the defining moment of her childhood.

While she was barely into her thirties, Sala returned home to see her aunt and two of her sisters slain, and she could feel the foul stench of Bogan wafting through the air of the family estate. Removing her blade from its sheath, she rushed into the central house to find her cousin in a fierce duel with her Mother, the Matriarch, the corruption of Bogan evident on her skin. With her cousin about to overpower her mother, Sala stepped in, striking a killing blow against her kin.

Her mother and family understood that she was just protecting her family, but this was the breaking point of her guilt. Gathering her things, she and a few retainers joined a group of Ashlan pilgrims and departed for Wild Space, where a new crusade was being called, and where hopefully she could atone for her sins. This pilgrims learned from her, and her from them, and when they finally arrived in the Koboth system, They founded the Ashlan Military Order of the Sacred Blades, choosing Sala as her founder. She humbly, and reluctantly, accepted their elevation of her to Grandmaster, and she since has lead them in wartime and in peace, training the next generations of Postulants, Squires, and Knights.

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Create a Unique Knightly Force Order under the Ashlan Crusade
  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: Knightly Orders of Ashla
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: Ashlan Military Order of the Sacred Blades
  • Classification: Force Order/Religious Order/Military Order
  • Affiliation: Ashlan Crusade, Followers of the Ashla
  • Organization Symbol: A pair of burning crossed swords superimposed over a stylized moon of Eshan
  • Description: The Ashlan Military Order of the Sacred Blades, "The Order of Blades" or simply "The Blades" for short, is a small force order of the Ashlan Faith which incorporates aspects of the militant Echani Philosophy and the unique philosophies of the order's founding members into the dogmas and doctrines of the Church of Ashla.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Blade's Rest, Koboth
  • Domain: Outside of the headquarters and a handful of unmarked training fields within Ashlan Space, The Order of Blades lack any real "dominion," though members can be found acting anonymously across the Galaxy as knights-errant, when not recalled for military duty
  • Notable Assets: N/A
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy:
    • Men At Arms: The Men At Arms of the Sacred Blades serve as the non-force-using auxiliary forces of the Order. While they are technically not knighted members of the Force Order itself, they serve as a crucial part of the Order's operations, serving as auxiliary infantry, intelligence operatives, naval crewmen, pilots, medics, and commanding the police forces of planets entrusted to the Order's watchful eye.
    • Postulant: Those who join with only a base understanding of the Force and combat, and those children raised within the order. Postulants are generally restricted to Blade's Rest and the nearby village, the only exception being supervised training courses on Bosph.
    • Squire: Once proficient and old enough to serve as a combatant, members are inducted into the order as Free Squires, which they will remain until they are chosen by a Knight or above to become a Squire Apprentice. These ranks are equal in status (both called Squire in conversation) and both are allowed to take part in missions suitable to their skill level. The titles only differentiate their status. Unlike the Jedi Orders of the past, one can go indefinitely without a master, and even advance to Knight without one if their proficiency, discipline, and temperament are exemplary
    • Knight: Once a squire-apprentice has received the endorsement of their master, or a free squire the endorsement of several knights and masters, they undergo a series of trials after which they are knighted a proper Knight, also called a Blade, after the personal force-imbued sword they're expected to forge (with help, of course). Whether or not they elect to take Squire Apprentices, Knights are expected to, except when on specific missions or recalled for training or combat duty, travel about the Galaxy, serving the people and fighting Bogan.
    • Master: Knights that have proven themselves in combat, discipline, and service to Ashla may receive an endorsement from a Council Master to be tested as to their suitability to be raised into the rank of Master. Masters are encouraged to spend at least part of their time traveling the galaxy as knights are, but can choose to remain in Ashlan space to teach and train the Postulants and assist in the day-to-day of the Order. Masters are expected to train each other and those under them in their orb specialties in order to strengthen the disposition of the order.
    • Council Master: Elected every 10 years from and by the Masters of the order, the Council Masters make up the members of each of the Order's 4 Councils (listed below by order of precedence, from lowest to highest).
      • The Military Council: tasked with developing deployment lists and recalling and commanding Knights, Squires, and Masters when the Crusade requires the order serve within its military ranks
      • The Council of First Knowledge: Like the name would suggest in other Orders, tasked with maintaining archives of ancient Jedi wisdom, overseeing and directing the formation of Postulants, it also advises the other councils, especially on matters requiring forbidden knowledge.
      • The Council of Shadows: The most mysterious and secretive of the councils, the Council of Shadows manages not only the order's intelligence network and network of contacts, but also directs Knights and Masters on specific missions, especially in regards to specific individuals who prove a threat to the galaxy or to Ashlan Space
      • High Council: The High Council, as its name would suggest, oversees the entirety of the order, including the other councils. By convention, only Masters both extremely wise and extremely strong in both bladesmanship and the force are chosen to lead this council. This council also chooses a Grandmaster to serve as the executive of the order, as well as to represent it in the general society and hierarchy of the Ashlan Crusade and Church of Ashla.
  • Membership: Since it's founding, the Order of Blades has grown to roughly several thousand Squires, Knights, and Masters, with around half a dozen times as many Men at Arms. Most of the members are volunteers who chose to join as Postulants or recruits who were given the opportunity to join as Squires or Knights; however, any force-sensitive children which are born to members of the order, as well as force-sensitive foundlings or those whose parents request the order to raise them (usually when the child is dangerously powerful in the force and/or has earned the attention of the forces of Bogan). The Order does not, like many Jedi orders of the past, seek out force-sensitive children to be coerced from their parents and raised. (OOC: Be an Ashlan. If you're a force user that's squire or above, have a force-imbued blade.)
  • Climate: Comradery, Companionship, and Compassion are at the center of the Blades' ethos, and shape the climate and atmosphere which the organization holds. Knights see each other as Brothers and Sisters and see themselves as the elder siblings of Squires, Postulants, and the galaxy at large, tasked with helping them to see right from wrong, and protect them from threats, both physical and spiritual that Bogan and its allies provide.
  • Reputation: The Order of Blades isn't well-known outside of Ashlan Space. While they can be found journeying across the Galaxy, they try to maintain a level of anonymity and humility when not fighting on the battlefield. Within Ashlan Space, their reputations vary anywhere from being another crazy minor sect with needlessly esoteric and eccentric practices to unrealistically idealized heroes who seem to be incapable of doing any sort of wrong, it can very much depend on the various worldviews and agendas of those being asked
  • Curios: Every Knight and above has their own, personally forged, force-imbued weapon (of varying qualities and strengths and weaknesses), and each of these weapons is discretely marked with the crossed burning swords of the order, faintly visible except when the wielder consciously makes it visibly glow. These weapons , imbued with the light side of the force, are treated as holy objects by the order, and a Blade discarding their weapon, losing it, or allowing it to fall into disrepair is considered to be a dishonor upon them, and damaged or broken swords are expected either to be repaired, or their remains melted down in a religious ceremony (almost funeral-like in its solemnity) to be reused in a new one
  • Rules: The Order follows the same variant of Jedi Teachings that rule over all followers of the Ashla, in that those positive emotions such as joy and love are encouraged, while destructive emotions like jealousy, pride, and rage are scrutinized, as well as in the fact that Dark-Siders are to be pitied rather than hated, and brought back if possible. On top of this, however, and perhaps paradoxically for a Military Order founded on a warrior's philosophy, the Blades see that every sentient life is sacred from its very beginning and that taking of life is to happen only in the most extreme of circumstances - a Blade is expected to avoid violence and killing wherever possible, and make any killings be quick merciful.
  • Goals: Protect the Defenseless, Aid those in need, and cure the galaxy of the disease of Bogan.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

A group of warriors and retainers from Echani space, part of a sect of the Ashlan Faith, had left on pilgrimage; being joined by converts, refugees and pilgrims who joined them along the way. Avoiding the treacheries of the galaxy had tightened the knit of the already tight-knit core group, and had earned them the trust of the force-sensitive among those who had joined them on their journey, many of which began to learn from and train under the vaunted Echani swordswomen. By the time they reached Ashlan space, they had picked up not only the skills but parts of the culture and combat-language of the Echani.

Lead by a hobbled-together hierarchy and the will of the force, they finally arrived in the Crusade's space. Having enough people to start a small order and wishing to retain the uniqueness of their tight-knit group, they decided to found the Ashlan Military Order of the Sacred Blades, or Order of Blades for short. Named after and built around the special style of combat this sect had developed both from their past and on their journey outwards, this order began to recruit and accept new postulants, swelling to become a small but respectable order of the Knightly Orders of Ashla

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Citadel of the Sacred Blades
  • Classification: Planetary Administration, Force Order Headquarters
  • Location: Nathema
  • Affiliation: Ashlan Military Order of the Sacred Blades
  • Accessibility: Contrary to their former headquarters at Blades Rest, the Citadel is in a much more easily accessible area, though both the town and keep/palace are fortified and guarded. The Keep/Palace that forms the citadel proper is accessible only across a bridge from Citadel Village, and while visitors are welcome, they are vetted, and only allowed in public parts of the Castle without being escorted by a Blade or having specific authorization. There are landing fields directly outside of the citadel for public access and hangars built into the mountain for access by Blades and specially authorized Ashlan personnel.
  • Description: The Blades Citadel is a massive monastery and town built in a mountainous area of the planet Nathema, serving as a headquarters for the order's common operation and as the capital of the Nathema's planetary administration. After a series of atrocities committed by overzealous crusaders against the remnants of the dark-sided Nathema Zealots still present on the planet, the Blades were brought in both to cure the zealots of Bogan's filth, and dispense justice to those crusaders who had themselves fallen to the dark side in this great destruction. Establishing themselves as the planetary government of Nathema, they've erected a large village and town to serve as the headquarters for their quickly growing order. Like their former headquarters, all walls are normally ray-shielded, and an extremely powerful defense shield can be raised during times of duress.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The order of the Sacred Blades was never really meant to hold territory - sire they would need a temple or academy to serve as a headquarters and safe place for recruits and children, but it was never even considered that they might find themselves entrusted with the administration of an entire planet. With a wide variety of war crimes and Genocide carried by both sides of a war between the remnant of dark-side nathema zealots and zealous crusaders whose hatred pushed them over the edge into darkness, that very quickly was changed, and they were given the charge of bringing both sides to Ashla's warmth and cleansing the planet of whatever dark influences remain, and so they did. It wasn't too long after this evolution that plans were drawn for the Citadel of the Ancient Blades.

Eventually planned to be merely a shining temple on a tall mountain range, soon plans were drawn up for the Citadel to become the true capital of Nathema, including a proper town, consular facilities, and the necessary amenities to function as the administrative center for an entire agriworld. An extensive facility was constructed to serve as the primary headquarters for the Sacred Blades throughout the galaxy. Using traditional architecture and modern construction techniques, the sprawling citadel has become a shining beacon for the people of Nathema, serving as a symbol of the new order on the planet, which seeks not to conquer or purge but to purify, cleanse, and make new.

Adherents are expected to act as guardians of peace and balance, intervening to maintain harmony in the galaxy and sharing their wisdom to preserve their tradition. The tradition enforces these teachings through personal responsibility and communal accountability but does not impose any punitive measures, relying instead on the inner alignment of each practitioner with the path's principles.
  • Reputation: The Haikage Path is known to a few outside of its practitioners, often perceived as enigmatic and elusive. While their interventions to maintain peace and harmony are respected, their elusive nature and unique understanding of the Force might be seen as mysterious or perplexing to others. Some traditions might view them with curiosity, and governments might see them as solitary peacekeepers, while others might find their philosophies and practices intriguing or unconventional.
  • Openness: Practitioners of The Haikage Path are generally reserved and selective in revealing their identity or presence and are cautious about sharing their profound teachings with outsiders. However, they are open to working with those who demonstrate sincerity and a genuine interest in understanding their philosophies and the deeper aspects of the Force. They are willing to share their insights with individuals who show a commitment to upholding balance and harmony in the galaxy and are respectful of the Path's values and principles
SKILLS INFORMATION
  • Characteristic Equipment: Practitioners of The Haikage Path are distinctively versatile in their choice of weaponry, reflecting their adaptive and encompassing philosophy. While some do wield traditional lightsabers, many prefer the use of bo-sticks and Daisho, considering these weapons as extensions of their own bodies and representations of their commitment to balance and harmony. Handmade armors and simple robes are also characteristic, symbolizing their values of simplicity and frugality. Some practitioners may carry talismans or relics, each personal and significant, serving as focal points for their meditation and as reminders of their vows and the transient nature of existence.
  • Notable Force Skills: Adherents of The Haikage Path exhibit a profound understanding and mastery of Force abilities focused on balance, harmony, and insight. They are adept at Force-enhanced agility and reflexes, allowing them to wield their diverse weaponry with unparalleled precision and grace. They practice meditative rituals to deepen their connection to the Force, seeking insights into the seen and unseen aspects of existence. These rituals might involve specific gestures, postures, and mindful breathing but do not require incantations or songs. Their refined sensory perception through the Force enables them to detect disturbances and imbalances in the Force with heightened sensitivity.
  • Notable Force Limitations: The Haikage Path, being aligned with the light side of the Force, inherently avoids practices and abilities associated with the dark side, such as Force choke or Force lightning. Adherents do not engage in Force abilities that are meant to dominate, manipulate, or destructively control others, as these are in direct contradiction to their values of balance, harmony, and moral integrity. Their focus on the more subtle and enlightening aspects of the Force might lead to a lack of emphasis on overtly aggressive or combative Force abilities, prioritizing insight, understanding, and harmony over dominance and power.
