Faction The Wandering Court of Corsairs

Where I have passed, grass will never grow again.

Amid the Transitory Mists, lurking deep within nigh impassable stretches of nebula gathered marauders and reavers and pillagers of all manner. They assembled together aboard a mobile Xi Char Cathedral Factory, their ships waiting in the depths of the brilliantly lit nebula, as they made merry.

Today they came not to plan an immediate raid, or to strike a target for plunder, but to form a pact together.

No fealty. No true allegiance. No oath of servitude, for all pirates fashion themselves free nomads not bound by the strictures of any government.

Yet assembled together, they are more than the sum of their parts.

Within the Cathedral Factory, Hasuras Na-Gerra and his Vahlan corsairs mixed with the Hapan exiles. They'd turned a hangar into an immense hall, filled with food and drink.

Gerra raised a goblet fashioned from the skull of a fallen Mawite warrior.

"To we the nomads, who alone among the stars know true freedom."

Are you a bad fish too?
It wasn’t lost on him. A captain in his own right, and being invited to a Court such as this. He served the fleet of Delphos, the recently minted Herglic Commodore. The new flag vessel of the pirate fleet, the MC-40 Star Cruiser Abyssal Horror.. The ship was not as well armed as a front line Republic vessel, but what it made up for in that? It had ion cannons and tractor beams a plenty. Designed to disable and rip ships apart for the shuttle craft and modified mining craft to pick through the bones. Delphos was here and Captain Isur gave the Herglic the respect he deserved.

However, he had taken his own vessel, the Assassin-class Corellian Corvette the Snapjaw to the mists, escorting the commodore to the factory and following the other. The crew members flying under the Horror were mostly aquatics, with some other reptilian and amphibian species. The group here were other Karkarodons and Herglics.

As the toast was given, Isur, his hands much too large for a goblet from a skull, and his tastes much too vast for the same, pounded his fist on the table in support of Gerra. “To the stars.” He growled.

The stars that would be theirs.

Quite the assembly gathered here today.

Pirates from every corner of the galaxy, spanning from the Outer Rim to the Inner Core. Roughnecks, scoundrels, mercenaries, naysayers, crooks, criminals, and everyone in between. This was his crowd.

Men from Jolly's own crew gathered around him. They had arrived on a few ships, with the main vessel being a retrofitted corvette. Now was not the time to flaunt fleet strength. No, they were here to form a pact. An agreement, of sorts. As well as to make a lot of credits along the way. Hapan goods sold quite well on the Black Market. And if a raid was to be initiated to take back the throne, then Jolly would not hesitate to collect the spoils of war.

But for now, they drank.

"To vast fortunes! And to good whiskey!"

The man raised his own skull glass into the air, joining the other pirates.

Makar would enter the nebula in his flagship cruiser, flanked by twin frigates. Their hyperdrives allowed them to cut through space like a blade, today they felt like kings! A devastating blow had been dealt to an Empire, and Cerberus Fleet was part of the victorious formation. In their holds were treasures of Imperial commanders, and among their number were prisoners of the regime. Makar had plans to turn over these imperials to Gerra. Surely he would know what to do with them.

The epicanthix strode across the docking bridge, making an fashionably late entrance to the festivities. His men brought their own wines and drinks, sharing them in kind with those in attendance. Their orders from Makar were very simple, make a good impression!

"I can see we have much to discuss, but that shall come in time," He smirked, raising a large stein from a nearby table. It was filled with a strong smelling mix of alcohols, but Makar cared little. They were victorious men, they had survived battle, and that meant life was theirs to enjoy. "For tonight, we bring our spirits to a fever pitch! Let all hear the roars of our hearts, and let them cower! For our ambitions can never be contained!"

Speeches aside, much lied ahead for the fledgling pirate nation in space. Perhaps soon he could speak to Na-Gerra about this. Surely the Qhan had more in his mind than the upturning of glasses...

It'd been a slow mouth lately for Zev and his crew, but that wasn't the worst thing in the world. At the very least they got to spend some time bar hopping every other week.

Pact's weren't really zev thing most of the time. This however was different, zev believed it'd serve his interests going.

It was already proving to be a good idea. The food and drink were wonderful, better then what zev have had in a long time.

Raising his goblet, "To true freedom."

Inside the immense hangar hall, the atmosphere was a heavy blend of roasted meats, spilled drinks, and raw, unbridled ambition
.
As the Cerberus Fleet delegation made its grand, fashionably late entrance across the docking bridge, Roqar Zatt and his Cerberus compatriates sat alongside the eight-foot Epicanthix leviathan at the high tables.

This was Roqar's first true exposure to the broader galactic underworld—a room packed with Vahlan corsairs, Hapan exiles, and Karkarodon captains. Tonight, the objective was pure, high-stakes networking, and he was not going to let the opportunity go to waste.

Roqar hovered with a rhythmic, measured stillness at precise eye-level with the seated captains, his wings beating in a safe, near-silent purr. His spine was locked perfectly straight, his posture still carrying the unblemished dignity and poise of a seasoned military officer though his commission had long since been revoked by the xenophobic imperials. In stark contrast with the expectations most people had of Toydarians, Roqar was dressed impeccably. He wore his tailored, high-collar vest of aubergine-toned Corellian silk and his chest was draped in the golden chains he once wore on his dress uniform, the very picture of sophisticated, sharp-edged opulence. He was here to sell himself as the premier, elite fixer these free nomads desperately needed to back up their muscle, all while making his captain look like a visionary kingmaker.

As Makar Clyne Makar Clyne raised his large stein and bellowed his honorific toast, Roqar offered a subtle, knowing smirk, effortlessly mirroring his captain's dominant charisma. The heavy gemstone rings on Roqar's webbed fingers let out a sharp, rhythmic 'clink' against his glassware as he set down his goblet of Tarisian Brandy. He was entirely oblivious to the fact that the deep violet gemstone ring on his right hand was emitting a faint, near-silent Force hum directly into the crowded room, but he was acutely aware of every eye on him.

Just a step behind him, S'tosh surveyed the room with practiced military vigilance, his brow furrowed as his dark eyes tracked the exit paths and the positions of the heavily armed planetary guards. The hulking bodyguard Dowutin leaned down slightly toward his former commander, his voice a low, gravelly rumble meant only for the Toydarian's ears.

"We've got clear lines of sight to both hangar exits from here, Boss. If things get loud, stick close behind me—I'll clear the lane."

Roqar gave a microscopic nod, silently validating his confidant's tactical assessment before turning back to the table.

To Roqar's left, the mirror-sheen chromium surface of SE-4 "Lux" gleamed in the firelight. Lux moved with elegant precision, Roqar's custom, armored lockbox binder-cuffed to his left arm as it always was. The droid's advanced ocular arrays were already scanning the room, running real-time biometric and micro-expression algorithms on Hasuras Na-Gerra, Captain Isur, and Jolly Walker, instantly filing their profiles for future exploitation and sending a silent message through to Roqar's cybernetic eye:

[REGISTRY ACTIVE: COURT OF CORSAIRS DIRECTORY]
[TARGET ANALYSIS: HASURAS NA-GERRA / JOLLY WALKER / ISUR]
[LOGISTICAL PROFILE: ROUGHNECK ARMAMENTS / HIGH-VOLUME REVENUE CHANNELS]

Seizing the moment in between Makar's toast and that of whichever Pirate Lord next spoke up, Roqar raised his goblet and announced, affecting his most debonair, swaggerly tone, "To freedom, and to the infrastructure that sustains it." His braggadocious cadence carried cleanly across his section of the table. He didn't holler like a common brigand; he spoke with the pompous authority of a pirate Lieutenant. He leaned slightly forward in mid-air, his tailored vest parting just enough to hint at the polished chromium barrels of Debit and Credit resting securely in their shoulder holsters tucked just out of full view. He cast a sharp, calculating gaze across the table toward the other pirate lords, as he offered his inspiring toast.

"The great Captain Clyne speaks of an ambition that cannot be contained, gentlemen, and Cerberus Fleet has the steel to prove it!." Roqar continued, an ambitious warmth curling his snout as he inclined his head first to his own captain, and then to Na-Gerra, Isur, and Jolly Walker. "Tonight, we drink to a historic pact, and to the boundless fortunes it will bring. May the Profit Favor You, Lords of the Court., and us all!"

The crisp echo of his glass meeting the table had barely faded before Roqar offered a smooth, calculated gesture toward his left. On cue, Lux stepped forward with clockwork grace, the droid's mirror-sheen chromium fingers snapping open the primary compression seals of the armored lockbox with a pneumatic hiss. From the velvet-lined interior, the droid lifted an ornate humidor, its polished surfaces glimmering in the dim light of the room, and placed it gently onto the marble before the Hapan Warlord.

"And for you yourself Lord Gerra, to show our deep appreciation for this lavish reception, a modest tribute on behalf of my liege Captain Clyne" Roqar murmured, as he drifted respectfully closer in mid-air. "Leading an armada of this scale through active war zones is a heavy mathematical burden. I trust these will help alleviate some of that burden for you." Lux slid the dark colored box in front of Gerra and fully opened the lid before stepping back with a practiced etiquette. Inside sat a dozen hand-rolled premium cigarras packed with imported Jovian clove and high-grade Outer Rim spice leaves, their sweet aroma wafting out silkily. A keen eye would also notice the humidor was plated in pure shimmering Cortosis laminate, which would serve to scramble any contraband scanner that might try to uncover its contents, allowing the luxuries inside to remain entirely private.

The Toydarian offered a slick nod toward Makar, leaning back slightly to let the his lord admire the unique metadata of the ostentatious tribute, hoping Clyne did not feel upstaged. The grand gesture was, after all, made in his name.

"Think of it as a small sample of what Cerberus's procurement lines can secure when the local regimes are looking the other way."

With a polite, disciplined incline of his head, Roqar reversed course and returned to his seat, leaving the high-end icebreaker on the table as a flawless corporate calling card.

You lack faith in my Champion.

The unwelcome intrusion of the goddess Vahl's voice in the dark recesses of Vatrës' mind caused the Avatara to glance toward the Qhan, some distance across the hangar-turned-banqueting hall. She couldn't look at the goddess, after all, for she was not physically present. "I have faith in your plan, my lady," Vatrës promised, already cringing from the pain she knew from experience the mercurial spirit could inflict upon her if Vahl found her Avatara wanting. She turned back from him, toward the transparisteel looking out into the void of space. "That includes your choice of Champion."

She didn't speak aloud, though her lips moved in the reflection.

His appetites are prodigious, Vahl mused.

"They require constant feeding," Vatrës answered. "Marauding. Reaving. Feasting."

The impression of a throaty chuckle. I am aware. At least as well aware as you, child.

Vatrës gazed at herself in the reflection of the window. Black irises gazed into black irises. "It leaves little time for the search."

Yes, Vahl said. Yet we will not find home without Hasuras Na-Gerra. We must accommodate his... eccentricities. Home will be there for us when we locate it. And the more his appetites and conceits and ego are fulfilled, the more effective he will be when the time comes. Everything will be as I foretold, my child.

"Yes, my lady," Vatrës said, bowing her head in reverent obedience. It was difficult, being unable to escape scrutiny, even if remaining utterly silent.

Vahl was silent a moment longer, then she said: You require your strength. Go. Eat. Drink. Be not a specter at the feast.

"As you say, my lady."

Vahl retreated deeper into the shadows and Vatrës turned back to the din and began to approach, her dress swishing pleasantly around her legs as she came into the light.
