Strengths:
  • Long-Range: The Wanderer has been refitted as a long-ray exploration craft designed to work on its own in more dangerous areas. The original Nephilim class Corvette was created as a solitary hunter vessel, and thus built out to allow for operations on it's own. This solitary design was perfect for conversion into a long-range craft. In order to further facilitate this use The Deimos was retrofitted with several different features. Most of it's weapons were removed, the holding cage was taken away, and the reactor was replaced with something more stable. The additional space was converted into a storage area as well as supplemented with additional sensor and communications nodes. The ship was also given a central databank. All in all, The Deimos is perfectly suited for surviving nearly a year completely on its own without refit or refuel.
  • Adjusting Engines: The other feature of the Nephilim class is it's adjustable engine pods. Designed by Vanir Technologies to assist in maneuverability the Engine pods on the Nephilim are capable of fully rotating three hundred and sixty degrees independently of one another, shifting and moving depending on the will of the pilot. These engine pods allow the Nephilim to move more swiftly through space, dodging obstacles and moving around far more quickly than one would expect from a ship of it's size. It also allows the Nephilim to outmaneuver smaller ships that it might be chasing. The Nephilim is not the fastest ship in the galaxy, but it is quite light on it's feet.

Weaknesses:

  • Not as Defended: Due to its role as an exploration vessel, The Wanderer does not have the same defenses as it's original model ship. The vessel has significantly reduced armament, having replaced it's four Light Turbo-laser cannons and Connor net launcher with just another Particle Gatling. This means that in a dogfight, the ship can do little more than hold it's own and would be lucky to win against a ship similar in size.
  • Armor: Though well shielded and constructed, the Nephilim-Class follows the same suit of thought behind it as many other Vanir Technologies ships. In order to preserve it's sleek and more stealthy nature, the Nephilim has no real armor. It's hull is a thin fiberplast coating, it's skeleton being a strong titanium body. Though the vessel has shields, once these are penetrated it is entirely too easy to destroy the ship with only a single heavy turbolaser blast or well placed missile. The Nephilim instead relies on it's increase maneuverability and sleek body to allow it to dodge and weave between most forms of assault.

Description:
Since her work with the GUIDE Rose has been using a modified VT-Momentum, and incredibly fast, and quick craft that makes it extremely suited for work as a quick exploratory ship.

As her work has expanded to cartography and longer trip however Rose has found that the Momentum has simply become too cramped. Though t trips within the one man ship that last several days are still fine, when her work takes her to the outer rim for weeks at a time it becomes difficult to sleep, eat, and live inside of a craft that really only has the one seat. As such, Rose requested a new ship from her father.

Alric, wanting to support his daughter in her work granted said request.

Though perfectly capable of designing and creating a new vessel, the smart people at Vanir Technologies decided that it would both be cheaper, and much easier, if they simply refitted a previously constructed class of ship. As it happened, Vanir Technologies previously produced a starship that was designed for solitary missions. Though this vessel was originally created for use by Bounty Hunters, the ship could very easily be retooled in order to suite Rose's work with the GUIDE.

The Foundry was quickly put to work, one of the smaller hangar bays being cleared to heavily retrofit and retool a Nephilim Class Corvette. The ship was quickly stripped and taken apart, the core frame, systems, and even power nodules kept in place though much of its weaponry stripped. In place of Turbo-lasers and connor net launchers Vanir put Communications relays and transceivers. In place of prison cells, they put a database. Simple alterations that made the Nephilim more suited to work as a long range exploration craft rather than a hunting vessel.

The Wanderer retains many of the design aspects of The Nephilim-Class Corvettes, including it's stealth features, slim profile, and adjustable engines that allow it to be so maneuverable.

Perhaps the biggest differences between The Wanderer and other ships of its class is the simple addition of space. With the removal of the detention area, weapon ports, and other small more spartan features The Wanderer is somewhat more spacious and cozy on the inside. The ship also has better long-range sensor and communications arrays, allowing it to better function as an exploratory craft for The GUIDE.
