STRENGTHS
  • Defenses - From duranium-trimantium hull plates to triple-layered Particle and Ray Shields to a Molecular Shield on top of all that, the Voidlight Cathedral was designed to be as close to invulnerable as was possible. Of course, it isn't perfectly so - overwhelming firepower can still overload the shields break through the hull-plating, but it'd take a lot to get to that point.
  • Self-Sufficient - Inspired as it was by the Generation Ships of old, it wouldn't be inaccurate to call the Voidlight a mobile township. While not as large as its ancient inspirations, the Voidlight is nonetheless potentially capable of running for the better part of a century without needing to refuel, and, barring the catastrophic destruction of the production centers, the occupants can feed themselves near-indefinitely.
  • Basically Unhackable - Every major system (Power, Navigation, Communication, Weaponry and Shields) on the Voidlight is overseen and operated by the Lares (see "Lararium" in Advanced Systems), while Life Support systems are subconsciously directed by the Lares. Although a maintenance crew is on standby to repair any physical damage sustained during combat, there are no external terminals through which one might interfere with these systems. You can, however, unplug the Lararium, assuming you find the room it's installed in.

WEAKNESSES
  • Self-Defeating Shields - In order to fire its missiles, mass drivers, and hypervelocity cannons, the Voidlight must lower its particle shields, as they block fire from within as well as from without. Since its energy weapons are primarily for point defense and close range engagement, that means that if the Voidlight wants to engage in any serious combat, it needs to open itself up to projectile fire.
  • Force Vulnerable - The Lararium may not be vulnerable to slicing, but its central component is a living creature, meaning that, assuming one can pinpoint it among the potentially thousands of life-forms aboard the Voidlight Cathedral at any one time, you can then manipulate it with the Force.

DESCRIPTION

The Voidlight Cathedral is not just a ship; it is a forge. Outfitted with the latest in Imperial educational supplements and containing numerous training grounds, it is within the halls of the Cathedral that the Crucible blazes once more to life. Civilians displaced by Imperial wars, criminals, and those residents of Imperial space not given citizenship rights are all herded to the Cathedral, where Imperia promises to give their lives meaning and value. Those who are deemed fit for combat are enrolled in the Crucible's Legionnaire program, where they are given prowess, dedication, and bravery to put the average Imperial soldier to shame. Those who aren't fit for combat needn't despair, however, as the Crucible has a place for them as well. Non-Combatants are trained in a variety of non-academic trades, such as maintenance or metalworking. And if even that proves too much for an individual, they're sent to Imperial sites in need of menial labor, where they will be given food and shelter in exchange for their services.

Darth Imperia, understanding that this project would be the target of any number of anti-Imperial terrorists seeking to cut off the flow of skilled Imperial assets, made sure that the Voidlight Cathedral was outfitted with the best defensive systems available. Redundant Particle and Ray shields are topped off with a Molecular Shield, providing superb defense against both projectile and energy based attacks. But the physical isn't the only realm susceptible to attack; slicers are an ever present threat, and often have unreasonably anti-Imperial sentiments, so in her wisdom, Darth Imperia decided to close off that angle of attack ahead of time. The Lararium System removes possibility of a cyber-attack on any of Cathedral's vital systems, although even Imperia herself must admit that it's not a perfect solution.

The Voidlight Cathedral has a maintenance crew capacity of three thousand (minimum one thousand), a dedicated Sith Temple, rooms for up to two hundred high ranking occupants, and enough room to house and train a maximum of twenty thousand recruits at a time. Its cargo capacity is around thirty-six thousand Imperial tons.
