In a concession to the urgency of the situation, the tea was already steeping before Sela's visitors arrived. There simply wouldn't be time to faff about, and it was equally impossible for someone to come to Sela Basran's study and not be offered tea. Concessions, therefore, had to be made. Things were extraordinarily busy there. Since the Sith attack at Thyferra, it was all hands to the pump. Things between the Jedi Order and the High Republic Senate -- literally Sela's job as Senate Liaison -- were not what they should be, thanks in large part to the brash and foolish efforts of those calling themselves the Vanguard to break high-security prisoners out of prison against Republic wishes. Meanwhile, as the Sith rampaged, there were those seeking to protect Jedi artifacts -- literally Sela's other job as Chief Curator -- or otherwise get them out of their hands to avoid making themselves targets resulted in a flood of reports about things that needed to be tracked down and secured. And then there were the Padawans needing mentors, a role which strictly speaking was not hers alone, but in the absence of other infrastructure had fallen within her purview as a result of the way her role touched the education of future Jedi.
There were days where Sela could swear she could see the silver streak that framed her face on either side growing.
