The Unpleasant Side

[member="Farah"]

Nikolas glanced back towards the windshield just in time to see an oncoming freighter, his fingers twitching to the right and pulling the controls. They banked hard to the left, sliding past the freighter as it let out a loud hoooooooooooonk. A small smirk touched his lips.

"Relax." One hand slipped from the controls and patted Farah's knee.

He had never really been the best at comforting people, that was more Matt's department, or even Jerick. They were better at that sort of thing. Most of the time he'd really only been able to make Teslyn feel better about things, though that was because they were so similar. Slitting someone's throat in front of her always did the trick, no matter how depressed she was.

Nik doubted that would work for Farah right now.

"We'll be fine." He pulled the yolk back towards it's center position, letting the speeder glide to a more even position. "Besides."

The executioner grinned and pressed the speeder forward, another kick of acceleration pushing them back. "You wanted to get there fast."

“Relax?!” Nik’s words did nothing to alleviate Farah’s panic or anger. Her eyes slipped down to the hand at her knee and her glare intensified a bit. “Keep your hands on the steering for the love of Coruscant.

One hand gripped the seat beneath her while the other scrambled for the handle above the door. A string of curse words left her mouth, some muttered and some shouted as a pair of speeder bikes swerved suddenly to get out of their path of destruction.

“I don’t want to get there by ambulance, Thawne!” She hissed out with so small amount of venom, glued to her seat as another kick of acceleration surged them onward. Really, how fast could this thing go. “I’m too young to die, damnit.”

"You're fine!" Nikolas said as they suddenly banked to the right and tore through a build up of traffic.

A dug, or what looked to be one, screamed at them in his native language as they swooped by him. Half a dozen different speeders honked their horns, but of course Nikolas paid them no attention. He smirked slightly, glancing in the rearview mirror to see another speeder narrowly avoiding crashing into another. His gaze wandered back towards Farah for just a second, and then a shrug lulled over his shoulders. The Executioner really didn't see a big deal.

"You know." Nikolas began as they suddenly turned to the left and cut upward, moving into the higher class districts of Coruscant. "You'd figure we'd have seen some police by now."

The thought mused in his head as he suddenly pulled back on the controls and slowed them considerably.

All of a sudden, they were part of the normal flow of traffic, just a block away from Farah's work.

After all was said and done, Farah found that she was gripping Nik’s arm rather tightly. It was unclear when it had happened, but perhaps she subconsciously was trying to ease him back from the steering yoke. Whatever it was, it hadn’t worked.

Her heart was pounding in her chest even as they merged back into regular traffic a short distance away from CoreGren. The adrenaline pumping through her system kept her on edge and reactionary.

“You’d think.” She bit out, highly unamused. Was she ever amused with him? They hadn’t even had 24 hours together and already things were a roller coaster.

Carefully she loosened her grip on his arm, hand settling onto the edge of her seat in the case that he decided to launch them into hyperspace.

“Just…drive like a normal person now.” They’d already covered a majority of the ground they needed to anyhow.

He gave her a bemused smile, though didn't say anything. Of course if Farah ever met any of his siblings they would likely regale her with tales of how Nikolas had almost killed them each several times while driving, but for now there was no danger of any of that. If there ever would be.

"We made great time." He said with a small smirk, gently guiding them along the designated path of traffic. "You'll probably get to that surgery you were yelling about."

Nikolas had no idea if that was true, but he had taken several shortcuts and been driving pretty fast. He didn't particularly care if Farah did make it of course, this entire debacle had been amusing enough on it's own. There would be consequences in the days to come, Black Sun striking back and other Syndicates reaching out...but that would be settled in due time. He would have to make sure to send some Runners to the Hospital, if only to ensure that no one came to Murder Farah.

Despite himself he quite liked her.

Perhaps it was because of her fantastic rear, or maybe it was something else. Either way, he didn't want her to end up nailed to his door as some kind of warning.

Farah leaned back in her seat, still on alert but less…aggressive. For the time being anyhow. At this point she was just happy with not needing surgery herself or ending up in a morgue. Oh that’s right, the surgery.

“I’d better.” She mumbled, eyes glued to the chrono on the center console for a few moments.

It wasn’t long before they made it to the emergency entrance of Coruscant General.

“Alright, bye.” Was all that she grunted before letting herself out, not particularly pleased with how things had turned out but…again, she wasn’t dead.

The fact that she’d said anything was telling of the fact that she did not hate him.

Nikolas gave the woman an easy smile. "I'll see you tomorrow night."

There was a sense of the self assured to those words, confidence that could only come from a mad man. It was clear that he meant what he had said about their second date, and in his mind she had after all already agreed to it. That was why they were here in the first place, not currently slitting the throat of the head of Black Sun here on Coruscant.

Of course, he needed a day or two to sort all that out.

There would no doubt be reprisals from the Black Sun, they would either come for him at the apartment or skip the middle-man and shoot straight for Coratanni Assets. He doubted they would be brazen enough to go after The Walk, but maybe Akkara. He considered for a moment, and then shrugged.

"Make sure to have something red." He said to her as she walked away. "Or we'll have to go shopping."

Nik offered her a wink.
