The Underworld | The Coratanni Cartel exploitation of Nar Kreeta

"Then go get him." He waved his hand. Slevin didn't do that to insult his dearest, of course, but it was more a common gesture of his...distaste for particulars. He was not the fine scalpel that Natalia was, he was not the surgical instrument in their relationship. He was the sledge hammer. Oh information was important, yes, but he only needed to know it when he interceded in a project itself. In truth, he much preferred that she handle the...finer details.

She was better at it.

"You know this sort better then I, my love." Slevin intoned as he cast a glance towards her. "No need to involve me."

Not unless someone needed to die anyway. As far as everything else was concerned...well Natalia was better off handling the more sensitive matters. "I'll ensure that you have everything you need sweetheart."

Laboratories. Equipment. Everything.

That was his roll really, to be the brutal front. It suited him more, there were sometimes that he thought about tinkering with the more subtle sides of life, but in truth it was only a passing fancy. He was never meant for such things, he was meant to be direct, effective, and brutal. Of course, that didn't mean that sometimes he couldn't surprise, but those surprises were rare and few in between. That was what made them so special, and what allowed them both to enjoy them.

"I will." there was no indication that said that Natalia would not get what she wanted. One way or another, she would acquire that scientist and have him come work for S.I.N.

"I am sure he would see the benefits in his longevity by working for us." the corner of her lips twisted into a cruel arch. Taking her narcotic, she took another deep drag.

"How are the Runners doing?" she asked him. A few of the orphans that they brought under their win were trained to be just as efficient and effective as Slevin desired. Natalia spent most of her time with the children, but it was not due to any maternal instinct.

It was simply grooming.

Taking them young and training them to be completely and utterly loyal. A few of her Little Birds served in a function of not only protection but for gathering information.

[member="Natalia Thawne"]

"Fine." He said with a simple shrug. "They're learning well."

That was the truth. There wasn't really much that one could learn under the wing of someone like Slevin, not anything that would be worthwhile in civilized society anyway. That didn't bother either them of course, they weren't in this to make the galaxy a better place. Everyone connected to them, everyone who worked with them, they were simple servants in some way. Neither of them cared very much about anything else besides each other.

It was what made them work so well.

"We'll need more, eventually, but that shouldn't be an issue." It never was, not in a galaxy wracked with war, death, famine, and half a dozen other galaxy wide tragedies.

The fact was that they preyed on the weak, those that suffered and couldn't help themselves. Every avenue of their business, how they handled it was dependent on the lowest of the low, those that would take any helping hand they could get.

Those that didn't realize that some hands...were pure poison.

The Runners and Talia's Birds were an ongoing project. They depended on the two hand to mouth. Slevin and Natalia provided food, shelter, entertainment. The strongest among them would become the extension of Natalia's and Slevin's hand.

They would receive the best of everything for their loyalty. The Runners and Birds would take lives without remorse, without regret... to protect S.I.N's interests.

Natalia groomed them into believing they were part of the family. To an extent they were... but a means to an end.

"No." her slightly accented voice would state.

"The war brings us plenty." a slight drag of her green eyes drifted over to Slevin. It would take them at least three days to reach Hutt Space. Plenty of time to consider what to do about S.I.N. then.

"I've heard that an Imperial government might have Rishi in their sights." She spoke of the Imperium. Word had it that they were moving in and out of former Techno Union worlds.

"The Imperium.."

[member="Natalia Thawne"]

He rolled his eyes.

"Even if they rise." Slevin said as he snapped his fingers towards the girl that had been standing the corner, pointing towards the nearby bar for a drink. "They'll fall a week later."

It showed how much cynicism he held towards the galaxies governments.

"They think they'll expand and be great, but in all honesty they won't have much more of an impact then the Hutt Cartel did. Central powers are just that, central." He had very little faith in anyone taking over Rishi, especially them holding it for long. This part of the galaxy had a mind of it's own, one that usually tended towards murder and death. Any galactic government that sought to claim them would find a load of trouble waiting for them.

"Besides." He yawned. "I suspect any such thing would find trouble around here anyway, what with the Alliance being so close."

That was really Slevin's biggest concern.

The Galactic Alliance, though hardly focused on them, was cracking down on Criminals. With the One Sith having been effectively vanquished there was now a rash of other focuses throughout the Galactic Alliance, and one of those focuses was on the growth of criminal enterprises, enterprises like SIN.

[member="Slevin Thawne"]

Ah yes. The Galactic Alliance. The redhead gave a slight smirk of her lips.

"True." her rolling gait brought her to the caf table, where a single ashtray lay for her to flick the ashes of her cigarillo.

"You think the Alliance will travel this far? They are still quite a ways." It would be interesting if they did came. Would also be a slight annoyance to their trade. The goal was to continue growing S.I.N. If they had to do it under the watch of the Alliance it would be more of an annoyance than a hindrance.

At that moment, their ship gave a slight shudder. The jump into hyperspace would commence the three day count down.

[member="Natalia Thawne"]

"Perhaps eventually." Slevin said honestly. He had no doubt that they would attempt to expand everywhere, most governments did. "Yet I suspect they'll be a problem far sooner."

The girl he had snapped at earlier brought him a drink, simple whisky, neat. "They think of themselves as good sweetheart."

Slevin rolled his eyes at his own words.

"That means they think they need to save everyone." Perhaps an oversimplification of how the Alliance viewed itself, but it was true in a way. After all why would they worry about the Sith if it wasn't true? There were plenty of planets in the galaxy that they could rule and be 'just' on without ever coming near the SIth. Why bother with the liberation of worlds? Why bother with any of it, because they thought they were good, and good guys had to save everyone. "They'll look to use eventually."

He rolled his shoulders. "We'll deal with it when we get there. A few dead Jedi, a governor or two, they'll get the message."

[member="Slevin Thawne"]

"Time will tell," Talia replied, turning to her beloved. With the cigarillo lightly held between to fingers, the woman sauntered back over to her lover.

Like a nexu draping herself against the object of her affection, Natalia boldly sank one knee to the right of Slevin's own. The other joined after, bringing the woman to straddle the man. Her skirt rose high on her thigh, baring the small thigh sheath that held three of her Devaronian poison tipped shivs.

Her expression was impassive, the magnificent sway of her ponytail a crimson snake down her back.

"Their desire to be good and purge the galaxy of all evil will make them predictable."

[member="Natalia Thawne"]

"Quite." He had no doubt in that either.

The do gooders of the galaxy were always the most boring people to deal with. Natalia and he had cleared more then one group of law enforcers from a planet that they were trying to do business on. Things generally tended to work out better if everyone accepted bribes...or died.

Simpler that way.

Slevin took a slow sip of his drink. "It's those with more...brutal methods that concern me."

"The Mandalorians." He continued. "I have no doubt they'll seek to expand as well, and although they should hold no interest in us, I have no illusion that if The Imperium creeps up on Rishi...well they would make an easy target for conquest."

Though Slevin had the usual low opinion of Mandalorian, he didn't underestimate them either. Though most of them were thuggish, not too dissimilar from people he employed, he knew that a few of them had their eyes set on the dreams of their ancestors. They wanted a Crusade, and they had started with what was left of The Republic. He had no doubt however that once they finished with that small meal they would turn to something else, and if the trend held...the Imperium would be a nice snack.

[member="Slevin Thawne"]

"You think that the Mandalorians would expand this far?" if that were the case, just how would they deal with them? Purely hypothetical of course. Whatever she and Slevin did, S.I.N. would be able to flourish. They had the front of the escort service and entertainment factor. Since the dawn of time, criminal empires worked hand in hand with such venues.

If the Imperium or the Mandalorians decided to move to Rishi or even Hutt Space, she and Slevin would be able to handle it. One way or another.

She took her cigarillo and took another deep drag, cheeks sinking in. The narcotic went flowing into her lungs, dilating her pupil and giving her a rush.

"Should we have one of the Birds keep watch?"

[member="Natalia Thawne"]

"I doubt they would come knocking on our front door." Slevin said settling his hands on her legs, gently stroking his thumbs over her skin. "I don't think they would occupy, not worlds all the way out here, but invade? Cause havoc and destroy something that affronts them?"

He gave her a considering look. "They would try."

That was simply how they worked. Their little Crusade was one that they saw as justice, and if the Imperium took the place of The Republic? Even if it was only the same moral space...well then they would be an incredibly tasty morsel for The Mandalorians. Of course, that was all conjecture, informed conjecture, but conjecture nonetheless. For all he knew The Imperium would never even gain the traction they needed and the Mandalorians would collapse next week.

"Let's not focus too far on the future." He said with a smile. "There's more immediate things to look towards."

Like stringing up slugs.

Three days later, their transport ship spewed with a violent burst of light from the dark mottled tunnel of hyperspace into former Hutt Cartel territory... Nar Kreeta. It was a major trade world, said to be awash in precious artifacts. Not to mention, right alongside the Mara Corridor; perfect for connecting straight to Rishi.

"Jaarl the Hutt has a palace here." Natalia would relay to her beloved, reading off the information file that Naia had procured for her. The same brunette was presently carefully brushing Natalia's hair, the bare woman standing over the lounging co-owner of S.I.N..

"He's currently feuding with Kobaa the Hutt." and it was a rather bloody grab for power.

"Kobaa has several spice mines while Jaarl has interests in Quesh with the adrenal trade." Quesh was a toxic world with a rich resource of toxic compounds. Many of the compounds on the planet closely resembled venenit queshaaga, roughly translated as "Hutt Venom", a primary ingredient in very powerful adrenals.

[member="Natalia Thawne"]

"So we kill them both." Slevin said bluntly as he took a sip of his drink.

That was his solution to most everything, though it probably didn't apply all that well here. Hutts generally worked off of a balance of power, simply going around slaughtering them all didn't tend to work out. Mostly it was because they would go into hiding before you could get every single one, and the creatures were surprisingly good at running their Empire from some invisible hole in the ground. Slevin knew that due to the history that had been flash trained into him, but still, the suggestion was his favored option.

"No." He bit his own words.

"I suppose that won't do." His head shook from side to side. "We approach Jaarl as contractors. He will know our names from our dealings with the other Hutts. We tell him that for a portion of the Spice mines we'll help him take over Kobaa's territory. He won't think past it, and will likely try to kill us when we deliver."

Slevin predicted they would have no issue with delivering Kobaa. "Then we kill him."

So they would go with his original plan, but...well a bit more refined. They wouldn't immediately lash out and slaughter the two Hutts, but instead would reach and worm their way into the organizations, taking over from within and then cutting off both heads. They wouldn't write any novels about the plan, but it would be effective at the very least. Slevin took another drink and rolled his shoulders, eyes slowly wandering towards his beloved.

Her hand had swept over her beloved's arm when Slevin had first recommended to simply kill the Hutts. However, her crimson smile went curving upwards at the change in direction. While she adored him with all of her being, he could be a bit too brutal. It was a rush when he acted so, but for this… this instead of the hammer they required to be the scalpel.

“I’ll send word for an appointment with Jaarl. We can set up a base of operations in the meantime, get a feel of what is going -- who else in in play.” A small wave gestured for Naia to depart. Rising to her feet, the bare woman came up to Slevin to press a kiss along his cheek.
“I will take care of it all, my love.” Natalia would murmur.

[member="Natalia Thawne"]

His fingers combed through her hair as her lips pressed against his cheek, a pensive look crossing his face as he considered what their first move should be. Information was always important, as much as he didn’t like listening to such things. Slevin knew that the more they knew the more likely they were to succeed.

“Good.” He said when she told him she would take care of it.

There was no doubt in his mind that Natalia was more than capable. He trusted her to handle it, just like he trusted her to handle any number of tasks back on Rishi.

“I’m sure some lower Hutt would be more than willing to give up his palace.” Slevin intoned with a slight bite to his tone. “They’re a very giving species when they want to be.”

Not every Hutt was sitting on the Hutt Council, but many of them were rich enough to have entire compounds. He and Natalia could borrow one of those. Settle themselves for the duration of their stay on his waste water world.

[member="Slevin Thawne"]

“Which is why I’ll play the part that they want to see,” a small nibble of his lower lip and then the soft tilt of her head against the brush of his hand.

“They’ll be giving… and once we have them in our trap, we can enjoy the spoils, my love.” when it came to Hutts, they enjoyed feeling as if they were in charge. Natalia would be able to give them a sense of comfort and play the part of the attractive business woman. A time and a place.

Sliding from his embrace, the leggy redhead strode toward the closet. The freighter was not anything fancy. But it served their purpose.
“Our little empire that we built on Rishi would prove that we are more than up to the task of handling Jaarl’s opposition.” they had made so much headway in such a short time. Their dealings with the Hutts’ had begun back with Sempra the Hutt. From that, they had their foothold in the spice trade.

[member="Natalia Thawne"]

He smiled as she nibbled, though pulled back for half a second to speak. “No doubt they’ll assume to control us.”

That was how Hutts worked.

“I won’t play subservient.” He just couldn’t do it. “I won’t attend any of the meetings.”

That would have just brought the entire ruse down to the ground. Hutt’s were...well they were egotistical things, and so was Slevin by nature. Partnerships were difficult enough for him, downright servitude? Impossible. He’d rather scrape the slugs off the bottom of his boot then work for them, especially considering that they tended to be fools.

“We’ll have to move fast.” Speed was the key here, to strike before either of The Hutts could properly think things through.

If they moved fast enough, neither Jaarl nor Kobba would know what was happening before it happened.

[member="Slevin Thawne"]

"I shall play the piper, my love," her throaty voice would float across the cabin. Smoldering eyes would peer over the perfect curve of her bare shoulder, the intricate tattoo that lined her neck gracefully curling over the dips and arches of her collar bone.

She moved with a fluidity that was graceful as it was deadly, a Bha'lair on the hunt for her next kill. A salacious grin animated the tanned countenance of the redhead, her hand plucking the black dress from its dress hanger.

"I will have him eating from the palm of my hand, worry not." she cooed, a glint of silver among tips of the tempting sway of her bosom. Aurodium crescents that decorated the jewelry that warmed against her skin.

"Naia would return soon with the answer," a slow slip of a dress strap went sliding over her shoulder. Turning to her beloved, the full figured woman went gliding back to Slevin. With a lower of her lashes, Natalia took the thick mane of her ponytail in one hand. She spun in front of Slevin, baring her back and the scalloped unzipped portion of her back.

[member="Natalia Thawne"]

Slevin slowly leaned forward and began to zip up the back of the dress. There was a slight glow to his eye, a displeasure. Not at the small chore of course, he didn’t mind that, but at the idea of Natalia having to lower herself in the presence of the Hutts. The idea didn’t sit well with him, though at the very least he wouldn’t be there to react to it.

His own nature would have made it impossible.

“I suppose we’ll have to work quickly.” He tapped the side of the chair as he leaned back once more. There was still quite a bit to do after all. The Hutt’s were a distraction, a very profitable one, yes, but a distraction.

There was still the cache on Dantooine, and the other plan that they had already set into motion.

“A week.” Slevin said. “At most.”

That seemed like a tall order, but...well for them it was the way of things. They had an Empire to build, and such things had to be done quickly

[member="Slevin Thawne"]

Turning to Slevin, Natalia came in to step in line with her beloved. Her body would melt flush against him, arms coming up to cup his cheeks.

"One week." she would promise. It was final. Whatever she did to ensure they were in the position they desired, Natalia would pay Slevin in kind thrice fold. They each had their place, and come what may, he was the only one who had her loyalty. Her heart.

"I need you move quickly with Kobaa." crimson lips barely came to hover over his, breath mingling. The flat of her thumb went tracing along the corner of his mouth.

"Strike fast. I want his head on a platter, my love."
