The Tranquil Traders

Darben Skirae had gotten word out to the CIS, and had received word back. One of them wished to meet, so he went out to the designated meeting point that they had set in CIS territory. He was on an envoy ship and had contacted the CSA foreign affairs minister, [member="Rahn Haaku"]. Perhaps them being there would help Darben. He did not bring Renla with him, nor the droid Rexy and instead had a security detail aboard the ship, especially after last time.

Darben almost did not send himself out, after he had been attacked by pirates. As he arrived, he sent out a transmission for the CIS contact [member="Alessandra Creed"], and then he waited for both them and the CSA foreign affairs minister to arrive. He pulled out a flask that he kept with him, for his nerves while seated in his cabin, waiting for the captain to let them know others had arrived.

A miraculously well preserved Consular Class c70 retrofit dropped out of hyperspace and began to make a cautious approach towards the awaiting vessel. On the ship's bridge, Captain Quayle Argyus' hand hovered over the hyperdrive lever until the IFF system flagged the other vessel as a friendly. "Can never be too careful, ehh sir?" Teased Argyus. He had long given up on fighting the Neimoidian's paranoia though he couldn't resist jeering him. "I shall be sure to remember this captain, when my suspicion saves our lives." Replied Rahn wryly as he removed his crash restraints. After freeing himself, the niemoidian rose to his feet, "Captain, please express my willingness to board immediately." In all of Rahn's years serving in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rahn had never met Darben Skirae, Minister of Trade, an incredibly powerful position for an intergalactic government whose greatest source of wealth and security is its trade policy.

Argyus pressed a blinking button on his console to transmit to Darben's ship."This is Captain Argyus of CSA Diplomatic Vessel 'Jaded Flame', Minister Haaku is requesting permission to board via airlock."

Once the CSA envoy entered Confederate space, as long as they remained among the major trade routes, they would find themselves entirely safe. If there was one thing the CIS prided itself on was keeping their territory free from undue piracy and anything that might interrupt capitalist ventures. Now, that wasn’t to say that there weren’t pirates, smugglers, and other unsavory types but they all reminded themselves of a common pledge. They did not defecate where they ate.

Her office received notification that their guests were in route and the dark-haired woman stood from a high backed chair. The Citadel, the main governmental HUB for the CIS, had its own landing pad where foreign officials could be safely deposited for a variety of business ventures. The CSA transport would be given clearance through the planetary defenses and also codes to dock. A trio of Magnaguard walked with Alessandra Creed as she made her way to the gilded turbolift in silence. Her expression was polite, however, filled with professional disinterest.

[member="Adron Malvern"] was set to meet with them due to his former ties to the CSA but the Minister of Commerce was uncertain when he would be arriving. Darth Metus seemed to have taken an interest in his talents and had a penchant for sending him all over the verse despite what her busy schedule dictated. Nevertheless, the young woman moved with purpose, and headed to the top skybox to await the arrival of [member="Darben Skirae"] and his people. She was unaware that he would be accompanied by [member="Rahn Haaku"] but it was perfectly fine. Whomever he chose to fill his team was up to him.

Once the landed they would see one of the busiest areas of Golbah City in action. Multiple ships coming and going with people from all walks of life bustling about. Every race, every alignment, every sort of business seemed to be conducted here. It was a melting pot. This was the reason that the Vicelord has permitted these potential trade negotiations to proceed. There was an ugly rumor that Commenor had allied themselves with the Empire. Considering it was a well-known fact that the Confederacy did not play will with Imperials… the Minister was a little surprised at the leniency. With that in mind, they would be provided every courtesy Geonosis had to offer.

Alessandra would stand out on the landing platform. She looked surprisingly human, despite being half-epicanthix, with typical limb proportions and a curvaceous form. The Minister was not overly tall like some of her distant relatives but she had retained the classical beauty of her Father’s people. She wore a sylphlike gown in a rather patriotic shade of royal purple. It was touched with lace, but neither too formal, nor too casual. It was respectful to the standing of her peers.

She bore no weapon as it was wholly unnecessary when taking into account that her security was comprised of some of the most lethal droids the CIS had to offer. It was not a threat, merely a precaution, and their red eyes glowed dimly in the blistering heat.

Once the envoy from arrived Alessandra would greet them with a polite, refined smile, that would have been cultured from growing up on Brentaal IV.

“Welcome to Geonosis. I am the Minister of Commerce—Alessandra Creed.”

Alessandrabar.png

Darben Skirae's captain heard the communication from [member="Rahn Haaku"]'s captain and allowed the connection. Meanwhile, Darben headed to where the shuttle was aboard the CSA ship and waited for Rahn to arrive. From there the shuttle was designated to head down to Geonosis, where the CIS diplomat was to meet with them. "Darben Skirae" he greeted to Rahn, once they met and put a hand out to shake his hand. "Have not met with the Confederacy yet, so I do not know what we will be dealing with as of now." In the shuttle was a small detachment of guards, as Darben had insisted upon.

Down the shuttle would go, and there they would be greeted by the one they were to meet, [member="Alessandra Creed"] on a landing platform, greeted with a polite yet formal smile.

Perhaps it was Adron's influence in Commenor or his relationship with the Queen that was the result of his task today. The Vicelord had made his objective painfully clear, the dealings between Commenor and The Confederacy would be smooth, and he was here to ensure the expected standard was maintained on both sides of the table. For the evening he had decided on a rather flashy suit. A formfitting suit, the suitcoat and trousers were sewn with a near-shining silk that was cut nicely with a deep purple. His feet had freshly polished, black shoes that were a close shade to his own raven hair. It was eccentric, it was flashy, and to a good degree it was Adron.

He ran a firm hand over the top of his hair, smoothing his locks into place as they took form over the peak of his head. He made his way to the landing platform, unaccompanied, a trio of clicks erupting rhythmically. Two of the clicks came from the firm heels of his shoes, the third sounded from the tip of his cane, tapping against the floor as a lead for the man.

Adron felt at home in this form, he felt as if he was a Count of Serenno once again and while he was far from Serenno, he was close to home. His eyes fell over the landing pad before him ,it seemed he was the final one to arrive. His eyes could spot the unrecognizable form of Alessandra Creed. A woman the man knew next to nothing about, he had been ordered by the Vicelord to treat her with the utmost respect, as she held the title of Minister, making her his superior. For now.

His lack of station and rank was a constant reminder of his own shortcomings, and caused a soft tick in his jaw as he thought of it. Closing the distance between himself and the landing pad, his voice called out as he approached. "Well. I hope we have all been properly introduced." He said, before inclining his head to the group respectfully. "Mr. Skirae, Minister Haaku. How pleasant to have you here." As always his tone was political and measured, yet in some ways it seemed as if there was a slightly feigned interest in the men. "I trust your travels were comfortable?" He asked, before looking to Alessandra. They would not have the pleasentry of introduction, not now. Appearances were everything when it came to such matters, and for all intents and purposes they must look unified.

"Minister. A pleasure to be in your company." He bowed his head to her respectfully before tapping his cane against the surface below them. "Well. Shall we?" He raised his hand away from the landing pad, allowing them to move to a more comfortable venue.

Rahn Haaku

Minister of Foreign Affairs, CSA
The shuttle ride to the planet's surface was a boring affair. Not quite long enough for Rahn or Darben to trade more than a few pleasantries and a broad strokes outline of talking points. Chief among them, at least in Rahn's mind, was downplaying their relationship with the Imperials and assuring that the CSA's commitment to peace and prosperity for its own citizens and its galactic partners remained their highest priority.

Descending down the boarding ramp, the Commenori delegation was met by a near-human woman who introduced herself as Minister of Commerce, Alessandra Creed, and their Minister of War some Serenno Count whose name infuriatingly escaped Rahn's recollection. Rahn for his part gave a shallow bow thanked them for their hospitality before following them to a more suitable venue. As they walked across the landing platform, Rahn contemplated this planet's history and the history of his own people before deciding that overall, Geonosis was far too hot and dry.

Chocolate eyes, flecked with cinnamon, swept over the dashing gentleman that the Vicelord had assigned to assist her in this endeavor. He was late. There was nothing Alessandra despised more than tardiness, with the sole exception of governmentally funded assistance programs, which had a tendency to run without proper oversight. There was no excuse for it. Turning her dark eyes back to her guests her lips quirked in an approachable fashion, her ever-practical smile softening, at the shallow bow the Deputy Minister gave.

Ah. This was to be one of those meetings.

“Properly enough.”, Alessandra responded to Adron, as their guests seemed a little tongue-tied, perhaps exhausted from their travels. Neither creature had actually spoken much upon their arrival. Perhaps the crowded landing pad was a little too much for them? Or perhaps, the small complement of Magnaguards that accompanied her made them nervous? Regardless, she’d not make anyone endure the unforgivably arid weather any more than necessary. The former Imperial seemed to read her mind and suggested they take the proceedings indoors. “Mr. Malvern, my consultant, is quite right. Please, gentlemen, come this way. You may bring your security if you wish.”

The Minister of Commerce turned and moved toward [member="Adron Malvern"] and slid her arm through his, as if they were old friends, rather than meeting for the first time. It gave the appearance of a united front. Regardless what the truth of the matter was, half of the battle of negotiation revolved around appearances, while the other half revolved around winning a war half the table didn’t know was happening. “Impressive suit, Mr. Malvern.”, the half-epicathix murmured, her tone touched with amusement, and something unknown.

Once in the cool air of the Citadel she felt a little more relaxed. Even beneath the harshness of fluorescent lights, she was lovely, and it would soon become apparent that the woman was not unaware. She simply ignored it. At least, until it suited her. Truly, as many Genosian would admit, there was no pleasure, no rapture, no exquisite sin greater than central air. “Our business today will be conducted in one of our private meeting halls.”, she turned her head to speak to [member="Darben Skirae"] and [member="Rahn Haaku"], ignoring entirely, the vast amount of people scurrying out of their way.

Adron was, as she had heard, on the fast track to a Ministry position. If what her little birds had told her was true, it was for the Minister of War, and the appointment would be weighed heavily on her review. It was an interesting dilemma he seemed to face. First, he had belonged to the Empire, to the CSA, and now—to the Confederacy? She was intrigued to see how long it would last.

It didn’t take long to get to the meeting hall. It was a large room with a fully stocked wet bar and a long table, made of glistening knotted wood, surrounded by high backed chairs. It was most definitely meant for a larger group but it had the essentials. The entirety of the wooden table was actually a holo-table, and there was plenty of room for the Magnaguard, as well as any security from their Commenor friends.

Alessandra released Adron and made her way to the head of the table, where one of the Magnaguard pulled out her seat, and she took it soundlessly. Hands folding in her lap, she waited momentarily, for the gentlemen to do the same. “Before we begin—Is there anything we can get you? Water? Perhaps something a little stronger?”

If anyone required anything there was a servant droid standing off to the side. They need only speak their desires and the servant droid would see it met. Alessandra sat back slowly, shoulders straight, as she evaluated her fellow capitalists. “I must admit, it is a little strange, to receive a request from Commenor. We were informed that this act comes with an expressed endorsement from her Majesty. That is fact—Correct?”

By her Majesty, of course, Alessandra referred to the Queen of Commenor. Surely, both men in the room would know, and understand, the potential conflict of interest. The young woman waited, seemingly patiently, to see what the representatives from the CSA had to say.

Darben Skirae saw as one final meeting member arrived. And saw it was [member="Adron Malvern"], he recognized him. But he did not entirely know why he was here, as he stepped up to meet with them. In fact he was rather confused as [member="Alessandra Creed"] spoke of him as her consultant. Last he had spoken to the man, he was under Lady Kay. But, he pushed the thoughts away. Now was not the time, now was meeting time. Darben wanted to bring the security, but he felt perhaps they should stay with the ship. So he ordered them to do so.

He followed the pair, glancing to [member="Rahn Haaku"] every now and then. "So you are the Foreign Minister?" he asked, not having really met the Nemoidian. "I'm Darben, Darben Skirae" he said, putting out a hand for a more formal greeting while they had the time, before they would arrive to the hall. And soon, they did.

"Oh I am good, thank you" he said, pulling out his flask and setting it on the table. It was filled with Commenori Brandy, his favorite drink. "Yes, the Queen did in fact endorse it. But, it was my idea that has brought us to this point. I always look out to potential trade partners."

As Alessandra approached him, her arm outstretched to take his, he found no difficulty in following along with their appearance. In fact he seemed almost as if he had been expecting the gesture, which to some degree he had. The Vicelord had not spoke of Alessandra in any extensive capacity, however she was well known among The Confederacy, in the end it had been simple enough to learn a bit about who she was and the character behind her. As they made their way down the landing pad, Adron's mind was on the coming business, yet when Alessandra spoke he glanced over to her without pause. His eyes were bright and peered down with a noticeable interest, yet in the same turn his tone had taken the guise of a man whose interest was reserved only for the most precious of moments. "Thank you. First impressions are paved through one's appearance." He said with the slightest tone of amusement as his eyes turned back to the path set before them.

"In that regard, you do not disappoint." He added, before they were ushered through the durasteel host of The Citadel. They followed the halls until finally they were brought before a meeting chamber of sorts. It had been equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable meeting, including a wet bar which Adron kept a mental note of, though he did not act on the thought.

Alessandra fell from his arm, causing him to divide the table, moving along it's length while he looked to a servant droid standing at the edge of the room. With an indiscrete wave of his hand, the droid was summoned to his side. However, he did not partake in a beverage, he merely passed his cane off to the automaton before waving it back to it's corner. Adron had decided to take his place on Alessandra's side, resting in one of the seats as Alessandra spoke.

When it was Darben's turn to speak, Adron glanced down to the flask the man carried into the meeting. He of all people could understand wanting your choice of drink, yet the display before him had seemed a bit eccentric.

"Queen Kay is a practical woman. It makes sense she would endorse such a thing. Not to mention with the recent....unpleasantries that plagued Commenor seemingly coming to a close, it would leave her open to fresh starts and productive friendships." Adron spoke with a knowledgeable tone, as he should having experienced a good deal of Commenor's most recent events for himself.

Rahn Haaku

Minister of Foreign Affairs, CSA
As they entered the meeting chambers Rahn took in a quick impression. He found its decor to be professional and yet also spartan. The imposing hardwood table was much too big for the two parties of delegates, but perhaps that was intentional. The table and the room itself felt too large, it lacked intimacy and Rahn wondered if this was a calculated move for the negotiations. Adron Malvern had anecdotal experience in the court of Lady Kay, knowledge of many of her government, and no doubt could use these to steer the negotiations. Rahn had been too busy and too new to the position to develop his own curated files on galactic players, so he was at a disadvantage for now. He hoped that TC-14 had already begun recording the meeting for later reviewing.

The Nemoidian moved to the Commenori side of the table and was followed by a small entourage of four black suited CSA VIP protective service agents who waited a respectful distance from the table, and his personal silver plated protocol droid TC-14. As usual, TC-14's right photoreceptor began recording the meeting.

After taking a moment to adjust his robes, Rahn sat next to Darben at the table. The Neimoidian's orange eyes flicked to the flask of Commenori Brandy and his lips twitched into a half smile of amusement. For his part, Rahn was willing to accept the hospitality of their hosts. "I can never pass on Blossom Wine if you have it." Made on Naboo from distilled flower petals, Blossom Wine was an extravagance found only amongst the upper echelons of society and while no doubt the Confederacy had at least one bottle lying around, he wondered if he merited the effort. It would be telling to see how they respond to his request.

As he waited for his drink or lack thereof, he interlaced his fingers above the table top and locking eyes with his hosts across they table. Darben was correct in so far as this was primarily his effort. He had lobbied with eventual success to conduct this parlay with the Queen's blessing and Rahn was perfectly willing to let the Minister of Trade make the opening moves. A strong diplomatic relationship could only be built on mutual trust and mutual economic gains from well-crafted trade deals. If things progressed smoothly. Rahn would be there to start laying the tentative foundations of something more politically binding.

"With order restored, Her Majesty's government remains committed to peace, prosperity and mutually beneficial partnerships." Rahn replied to Adron. "Upheavals, challenges and reforms are cyclical events for any galactic government. What is important is that the Queen and her government have survived the challenge, emerged stronger, and therefore we can expect stability for the foreseeable future. This may in fact be the best time to reevaluate our relationship."

The state of the galaxy was ever-changing. Allegiance shifted. Friends became enemies. Enemies became friends. It was simply the way of it. Alessandra knew of the history Adron shared with Commenor and, truthfully, had expected that any representatives looking to do business would be equally apprised of the shift in commitment. She could hear [member="Darben Skirae"] and [member="Rahn Haaku"] speaking behind them and did her best not to overhear as they headed toward the meeting area. It was rude to eavesdrop. Instead, she remained near to Adron, her expression absolutely radiant as he responded to her initial compliment.

Her crimson smile was a constant. Cultured, polite, and perfect. The confident and almost velvet tone of her voice would curl around his ears in much the same way a snake wrapped itself around a mouse. “Thank you, Mr. Malvern…For telling me that which I already know.”

She continued forward and took their seats. The raven-haired woman waved her hand toward the droid standing along the wall when the Neimoidian requested Blossom Wine. Her original contact, Mr. Skirae was much more forthright, and his preferences were laid bare in form of a flask. Two very different men, clearly, by more than just appearances. “Bring our guest what he desires.”

Immediately, each of the men in the room, attempted to reassure her of the virtues of their Lady Queen. Her hands remained in her lap as she listened. Unlike many politicians, heads of state, and otherwise maudlin excuses for leadership, the Minister of Commerce actually paid attention. They spoke of many things. That indeed, [member="Lady Kay"] had endorsed this venture. That of course, the CSA was looking for friendships, connections, to further their own prosperity and reform.

The droid that Alessandra had sent away returned with the Blossom Wine and the dark-haired beauty rose from her chair with an air of sophistication. It was one, smooth, elegant movement that neither seemed hurried nor rushed. She moved toward the bar and retrieved glass, before returning to the table, in order to pour wine for the Deputy Minister. “All of that sounds lovely, in theory.”

She set the glass down beside Minister Haaku before she returned to the head of the table, having left the bottle, for his consumption. If Alessandra Creed were to imbibe it would not be here.

“There is a bantha in the room that we cannot ignore. Commenor is allied with the Empire. The fact that there was some unpleasantness due to the actions of one is far less concerning than the current, and seemingly active, political ties you hold. Mr. Malvern, when he was still an Imperial, was even sent to your space to advise your Queen.”, she turned as she spoke, her voice never raising in pitch, or volume—merely stating facts as the Minister knew them to be. “So—Tell me. What can the Confederacy do for you that the Empire cannot?”

There were a myriad of issues to consider when brokering into such tenuous business dealings. Adron claimed that it made sense for the Queen to reach out to them but Alessandra disagreed entirely. “Make no mistake. I share no love for warmongering, aside from the obvious necessities, but this is highly irregular. On one hand, we would be limited, extremely, in what we would be willing to trade. Weaponry, armor, technology, and data, would mostly be impossible. We can’t take the chance of the Empire using our own arsenal against us.”

“Then, on the other hand, how would the Empire react to your dealings with us? Has the Queen considered the potentially precarious position this would place her in?”

Business deals and alliances were not the same thing. However, both, required a certain degree of trust. Alessandra was all for the Confederate agenda, however, she was a capitalist first. If she could arrange a mutually beneficial package for both groups to enjoy without repercussion—it was worth hashing out the details. Gingerly, she reached up and pinched the bridge of her nose.

“So, gentlemen, what is it that you are you looking for?”

Alessandrabar.png
[member="Adron Malvern"]

Darben Skirae could only agree to what both [member="Rahn Haaku"] and [member="Adron Malvern"] was saying, even putting in his own words into it. "I saw the chance after things were calming and presented the idea. It helps, these types of dealings as it keeps us confident that things are going well once more" he added onto what Rahn had said. Things were calming, and participating in negotiations and trade dealings was a way of showing that the CSA was in control of their situations again.

Then, there was mention of an alliance from [member="Alessandra Creed"]. "If I may be so bold, the people of Commenor have no allies, so to say. We have trade alliances and some non-aggression pacts, but that is as far as that goes. Any dealings the Queen endorses may be frowned upon, but it is behind closed doors and they do not tell us of such things. So no, I do not believe there is anything Queen Kay would even worry on."

He sighed lightly, deep inside he was starting to think this trade dealing would be different to most he made. Most went smoothly, perfectly smooth. This one seemed to have some underlying problems that he had not realized or seen. "Commenor mostly does simple trade. Trade route connections, resources. Sometimes weapons, sometimes technology." That's what the CSA was in most senses. A trading hub.

Rahn Haaku

Minister of Foreign Affairs, CSA
The queen had warned him that their trade relationship with the Empire may raise eyebrows, however the relationship was completely economic. The CSA took great pains to ensure a minimal interaction with the Empire's weapons of war. "Her royal highness wished me to make it quite clear that she understands your suspicions of our trade relationship with the Empire. However, you have our sincerest assurances that we, and I now quote Lady Kay, 'We do not give anything to the Empire outside of access to our trade routes and a pact of non-aggression. We don't trade weapons or military assets with anyone. We trade food, fabrics, medical and construction technology.'"

"We simply wish to offer you access to our extensive trade zone where your goods will be connected with eager, competitive consumers across civilized space. We understand the value of intellectual property and we can negotiate specific goods or services that will be exempt from a trade deal. However we do ask that a majority of your industries participate." Rahn expected at least 85% of the CIS's economy being given access to CSA's trade routes, merchants and clients. Any less and there would be angry voices on Commenor alleging the CIS was being 'protectionist' and unfairly protected from competition.

[SIZE=12pt]“The Empire gifted Lady Kay a company of soldiers to keep Commenor “safe” so stating the relationship between the Empire and Commenor is something based only around trade would be false.” He pressed, offering the two ambassadors a brief smile before glancing over to Alessandra. He turned his attention back to the guests and raised a hand as he spoke. “In fact. Given the Imperial Civil War, Commenor will likely be reevaluating their trade agreement with the Empire.”[/SIZE]

Pinching the bridge of her nose seemed to be her response when she heard multiple responses from the men in the room. Some of it, exceedingly, contradictory. Men that dealt in trade, that officiated trade routes for their respective nations, should be more cognizant than this. Just because they wanted to facilitate a business deal did not mean that the politics between warring kingdoms did not come into play simply because they wished it not to. Alessandra sighed. “You ask for quite a lot Deputy Minister.”

“And neither of you seem to be able to agree on the placement of where the majority of your trade actually lies.”

Mr. Skirae stated that the dealings the Queen made were behind closed doors. If that was the case, and they were entirely uninformed, then how was the rest of the free world aware? Briefly, she moved her hand over the holo-table and an official bulletin appeared from a local Commenor broadcasting network. It very clearly, very boldly, stated everything the two men attempted to deny and brush under the rug. “My consultant wishes for me to release my focus of your connection to the Empire. I will oblige him, if only, because the convoluted responses are beginning to wear my patience thin. I do not appreciate being misled by mistake, or, on purpose. Let us simply agree that it will not happen again during these proceedings.”

Alessandra moved her hand again and the image on the holo-table changed. Therein listed a conglomerate of enterprises that were housed within the Confederacy. The list was expansive. “Regardless of allegiance, there is a portion of our market that will remain within Confederate space. Anything produced from our private sectors can be stricken from this list. There are some projects that are not available for mass production, and others, that we can’t take the risk of being reverse engineered.”

“We do, however, have a surplus in textiles, refined fuel, foodstuffs, and select technology. As you can imagine we have hundreds of droid models at our disposal that may benefit the everyday citizen of Commenor. My suggestion would be to start with a limited pool. If the test venture fairs well with your people, then, we can perhaps negotiate for a larger portion of the market.”

The Confederacy, more than anything, was a war-machine. Much of what they produced was specifically designed to annihilate their enemies. Simply agreeing to divvy out their secrets to a nation they had no relationship with was a folly of epic proportions. To say that the people of Commenor did not obey, or adhere, to the laws their leadership set forth was laughable at best. Still, Alessandra, could see a silver lining. They had not asked for this meeting, yet, the Minister of Commerce would not refuse an opportunity to bring greater wealth to the nation.

In the same hand, she would do nothing to harm it. She may have been born across the galaxy, but this nation of droids, and member worlds, was her home. It was her duty to protect it just as much as it was her duty to investigate and thoroughly review the ramifications of any trade proposals. No matter who made the offer, no matter how sweet, or innocuous it sounded.

Darben Skirae saw this meeting was getting off the path he had meant. It was steering away from trade business. [member="Alessandra Creed"] pulled up a bulletin, but Darben had heard otherwise from Kay herself. Nonetheless, he would oblige to them to move off from that topic, move away from the politics and stick to trade. It was why he was here, after all. Allessandra Creed extended offers such as foodstuffs, textiles and even some droid models while some other things were clearly off the table. Completely understandable, that was.

"A limited pool sounds the best idea. A sample, so to speak. A couple droid models and some of the other things perhaps could be on the table for this limited pool? And in return we can give some of Commenor's Chrysopaz gems as well as some fabrics and simple enjoyments like foods and drinks." A simple deal, with the small things. "If we decide to extend it further, I can discuss with Miss Kay what else we can extend to you and the CIS." He looked to [member="Rahn Haaku"] and [member="Adron Malvern"], seeing if they had anything to add to this.

Rahn Haaku

Minister of Foreign Affairs, CSA
"This is your area of expertise, Darben. I defer to your best judgement." Said Rahn indicating his solidarity with his compatriot. However the mention of droid imports from the Confederacy was an opportunity to disnfranchise Cato Neimoidia's branch of the Trade Federation. They were producing various droid models for the CSA, but they paled in comparison to the Confederacy's tech and droid intelligence programs. Facilitating Confederacy droids in the CSA market would work in his favor down the line.

Rahn raised his wine glass in a toast to Alessandra Creed. She had earned both his begrudging respect and the designation of a political opponent. Her bold use of a Commenori News Story, miscontrued as it was, showed her to be a confident and brazen player.
As a neimoidian he had taken great offense to what he viewed as a deliberate slander and attempt at humiliation. Had Adron not stepped in to change the area of focus Rahn would have been content to hurl insults and torch the negotiations in rebuttal. Rahn conceded this round but he would be back to bleed the Confederacy dry. He chuckled menacingly, though quietly, into his cup before drinking its contents.

Not once in his life had Adron devoted his knowledge to such a tedious field as Commerce. In fact he had skillfully dodged such interactions, until now. While his knowledge lied in war, he could certainly see why the Vicelord had chosen Alessandra to take over these negotiations. She was very skilled in the halls of her field. However, Darben and Rahn had been an interesting team as well. Perhaps not as prepared for the accusations they received, but not an uneducated duo by any means.

Darben seemed content to start things off slowly, and Adron could not help but agree that would be what is best for now. He offered Alessandra a soft nod, showing he agreed with the final decision.

“Very well. I am sure Minister Creed’s department can draw up the legal documents while Mr. Skirae and Mr. Haaku report back to Queen Kay.” He declared, gesturing to Alessandra before returning his hands to his lap.
