  • Capable of providing a secure place of business for innumerable corporations and private citizens
  • Substantial internal and external security
  • Capable of docking with specially constructed facilities on very low gravity moons (<0.1G)
  • Voluminous docking bays and maintenance/refit facilities
  • Attractive aesthetics
  • Low-volatility, well-contained redundant reactors and other power sources
Weaknesses:
  • Underwhelming armament and small starfighter complement; incapable of repelling a full-scale military assault alone
  • Internal security situation must not interfere with open traffic and business across a massive internal volume
  • Moves like a small moon
  • Gigantic internal volume can lead to potential health concerns
  • Due to major traffic, cannot use flak cannons safely, and thus is not outfitted with them
  • The station can provide any kind of fuel, leading to potential volatility concerns in surface areas

Description:

-Overview

The Tion Trade Nexus is the galaxy's ultimate trade station, facilitating free enterprise from all corners of the universe.

The TTN is owned by the largest corporations in the Tion Hegemony. Specifically, Santhe/Sienar owns 10% of the station's volume and facilities, Silk Holdings owns 10%, Arceneau Trade Company owns 10%, NeuroSaav owns 5%, BlasTech owns 5%, Cestus Cybernetics owns 5%, and Akure Executive Leatherworks owns 5%. Many portions of these subdivisions function as public concourses and promenades. Other anonymous owners control 10%. The corporations collectively own the remaining 40%, which is rented out to other corporate entities or even governments, in lots not exceeding 5%. These areas, too, contain many public concourses and promenades. Markets abound, for every interest. Naturally, many owners and renters keep some portion of their holdings highly secure; not every part of the station is public. Invitations to do business in the secure areas are highly sought after.

-Security

A single VIORA Orbital Defense Cannon provides a wide-angle medium-range defensive emplacement. The cannon is not sufficient to hold off a determined assault from a full warfleet; it can, however, negate small craft strike forces and buy time for Tionese vessels to intervene.

Sienar J-Series Solar Ionization Cannons, having twice the power drain of standard laser cannons but packing comparable stopping power, can ignore starship shields. These weapons protect the station's many hangar bays from major internal and external threats. When coupled with point-defense pressor beams, the SICs are capable of repelling or neutralizing most small-scale problems.

The majority of the station's armament is focused on disabling weapons such as light to heavy ion cannons, mag pulse torpedos, and Connor nets.

The station's security force is twofold: Tionese elite guards have primary responsibility for order, investigation, and enforcement, but well-armed qo'saarai tuk'ata can also be found filling security functions, especially around AEL territory. Violence is discouraged, but intervention, with overwhelming force, comes only if there is significant collateral damage that would obstruct business for more than a few minutes.

The TTN has exactly the same Force presence as any other moderately wild place of business.

-Services

The station contains essentially every kind of service known to man, short of full-scale shipyards. Refit/modification docks, refuelling elements of every kind, arms merchants, black markets, highly secure vaults, metalworkers, commodities traders, banks, inventors, alchemists, auction houses, livestock traders -- anything and everything can be found in the markets of the Tion Trade Nexus. The Nexus' owners frown on slaving and spice trading in general, but their disapproval is not strictly enforced in the more secretive regions of the station. Considering the station has a volume of 33.5 cubic kilometres, nobody can have eyes everywhere, and the Nexus' owners don't actually want to put limits of any kind on trade -- it's simply a matter of deniability and image. The station's cargo capacity is effectively unlimited; its passenger capacity is similarly unknown, due to rapidly shifting internal structure, though its life support systems were designed to accommodate half a million persons. Crew numbers fluctuate between fifty and one hundred thousand, depending on economic forces and how one determines whether someone is crew or not. Various other regions are pressurized for other atmospheres, to better facilitate trade with non-humanoid species. Other stations and space rendezvous points surround the TTN, and must follow it when it finds relocation necessary.

Further details, such as culture and locations, will be addressed through the Codex.
