Ignore the planet in the background...

Name: The Time Foundry

Intent: To create a unique shipyard within Primeval space like nothing the Galaxy has ever seen.

Classification: Automated Shipyard

Location: The Chiloon Rift - The Bubble of the Lost

Affiliation: Whoever owns the Chiloon Rift (Primeval)

Population: N/a, complete automation.

Defenses: N/a, space station is dedicated to creating starships and on-board droids.

Points of Interest: The space station itself is nestled into a point of interest it. The Space Station that makes up the "shipyards" is within the Bubble of the Lost, an area of space surrounding an interior monolith that creates a space time anomaly that distorts the passage of time experience inside the bubble to what is experienced outside the bubble. That means five years are capable of passing inside while only one year passes outside, which has been the cause for hundreds of ghost ships in the system throughout the centuries.

Description: A single dedicated Space station that does nothing but produce droid manufactured and driven starships for the Primeval Fleet. It builds ships, stores them up, and then launches them as a fleet. Due to the effects of the bubble, these fleets could randomly appear five times as often as the average shipyards, the trouble is finding them however, in the deepest portion of the nebula. Additionally, it has been entirely automated in order to ensure that no living things are involved with the station, to prevent local insanity, and to streamline production. This provides some drawbacks however, in that if a station ever malfunctions or becomes damaged, it is unlikely to ever be repaired given its difficult location.

History: The Time Foundry Initiative, is a program first conceived by the Directory, the decision making arm of Warlord Zambrano's domain. At first, the original initiative was merely to develop the mining system of the Chiloon Rift to become an effective shipyards... this initiative was soon expanded upon when they discovered the source of the ghost ship sightings within the system that have occurred all throughout its history: the Bubble of the Lost. Soon realizing that this could be far more valuable than they first realized, they soon drafted up resources to construct a shipyards, and not within the asteroid belt, but within the heart of the nebula. Multiple blueprints were up, but ultimately taking in the effects of the rifts unique location, they settled for a single totally automated and dedicate space Foundry, that would churn out droid driven starships and send them out of the bubble. It was their hope, that every so often, a massive turnout of starships would occur.

Their reason in hoping for this, is that they were placing factories within the Bubble of the Lost, thus they all would experience a time dilation effect where its own passage of time is independent from the passage of time outside of the bubble by approximately five times as fast. This means that a particular space station could produce something like five years of production in one year. It is also notoriously difficult to navigate one's way to space station, making repairs impossible by conventional standards if the station is ever damaged both due to asteroid and plasma obstacles, but also due to the unique time dilation effects of the bubble. Like their presence within the bubble, this is a blessing and a curse; on one hand the shipyard system has the possibility of producing far more ships than any other single system could and being highly defensible, on the other hand the shipyard system is improbable to repair.

Before all of this was constructed however, it was simply a search headed by Admiral Thetsh to find the source of all the ghost ships within the nebula, due to their infamy in the pirate system. With the plentiful resources of the system, it made it a prime breeding ground anyway for the creation of starships, but he also wished to create a full system sweep in order to determine if the ghost ships were caused by an interior anomaly, or were simply lost in the nebula inexplicably by natural means. Using the Dovin Basals on the Warlord's Vong Warship to clear a safe passage for mining vessels to go through as they mined through the nebula's asteroids, the Admiral planned to direct a path directly into the core of the system for investigative purposes

However, as they were progressing, a giant Concordian Class Mandalorian ship shows up which soon reveals itself to be almost entirely devoid of life, and is essentially a ghost ship. Sending in various agents to board the vessel (redirected from pirate hunting), they discover that this ghost ship entered the nebula this current year, yet the logs extend well into the future.

After going deeper into the nebula, a rough boundary is discovered of where this legendary bubble is, and using the path they created, began to build a factory outside the bubble using the plentiful resources, and then sent them into orbit around the monolith that generates the bubble.

Strengths:
  • Production Accelerated x5: With time dilation working in its favor, the Time Foundry can produce ships at a rate five times faster than the next competing Shipyard system.
  • Difficult to reach: Being in the center of a Primeval, and Pirate infested nebula surrounded by asteroids and rogue ships, with the risk of becoming lost within the Nebula, is a surprisingly good deterrent and defense for one attempting to find this Foundry.
Weaknesses:
  • Difficult to reach: Being in the center of a pirate infested nebular surrounded by asteroids and rogues ships, with the risk of becoming lost within the Nebula, is an unsurprising double-edge sword. If the enemy can't find the Foundry, neither can the Primeval. So routine repairs are unlikely, or expensive, if ever necessary.
  • Vulnerable: If one was ever determined enough, and lucky enough to survive and surpass the perils of the Chiloon Rift, they would have almost no troubles destroying or taking over the station for themselves, given that it was built without any onboard weaponry. An invader though, would have to be worried about the Fleet it would be in the middle of constructing however.

Apologies for the wait.

Now, this is pretty ambitious. I'm going to approve this, given it's lack of defenses, but with a strong warning that if this is abused, this sub will be revisited.

Approved, Pending Secondary.

After consideration with [member="Raziel"], the board's expert on such things, I am going to approve this.

However, I am giving this the sternest of warnings. Do not abuse or this submission will be denied back to the stone age.
