Name: The Tainted City (often called "The City of the Unchained")

Classification: Urban Center

Location: Malachor V, west of the Abyss Academy

Affiliation: Darth Abyss (De-facto Ruler, but actually "ruled" by anarchy)

Population: Around 670000

Demographics: 90% Human and Near human, 10% Other

Points of Interest: The Spines of Light, Scrap Gallery, Slums, Scrap Reclamation Factory, Blight Lounge, The Black Port, The Junk Market, Citadel of the Darkness, Red Light District, Outsider Farm.

Description: The Tainted City is build upon blight, blood and scrap, born out of desperation but also out of hope. All started after the Floating Market grew in the sky of Malachor V, pulling more and more elements, criminals and others, towards the long deserted, dead world. The streets are filled with crime, with hunger and corruption, yet there is something else, a feeling of total freedom that lingers above the dirt and decay. Darth Abyss might be the one to take control in case of an emergency, but power inside the Tainted City is a constant, uncontrolled flux, which creates as much pain, as it creates kindness. One one street you might see the homeless die from their hunger, but in the next you see a group of young society dropouts feeding the poor and helpless in hopes of making the city a better place. Violence is present in every corner, but there is also art, a overflowing creativity that marks the whole city in the form of scrap sculptures, graffiti and streetart. Every piece of scrap, every small fracture a metal ship shell will be reused inside the city, as the population fights against the city itself, which is constantly falling apart again. Selfmade building, shops and booths are everywhere, forming the image of the Tainted city into what it is.

The Spines of Light: Powerplant and lightsource at the same time, the spines of light mark the center of the tainted City. Build out of old, broken generators from the salvaged ships, they are the City's blessing and its curse. Without it, the whole city sinks into darkness, without light and power left to fuel it, but the way it is build forces the population to be on constant watch for blackouts and power surges. The Spines are owned by Darth Abyss personally and he oversees and pays those that are tasked with keeping the powerplant up and running. They are his main source of power in the otherwise anarchistic city, as everyone is depended on the spires.

Scrap Gallery: The Scrap Gallery is a district located in the western part of the city, and it is the place where the freedom and creativity of the Tainted City truly start to shine. Every street, every corner is filled with larger and smaller pieces of art, left there by those that meant to leave at least one mark in the all devouring vortex of the galaxy. Streetart, sculptures, graffiti, installations, even actual pictures on canvas can be found here. Young artists from all over the galaxy are drawn to this place, a sandbox to create whatever you want, out of whatever you want. There are also buskers, street artists and other live performances taking place here, both from established artists and from those that struggle to make their living.

Slums: The darkest, poorest but also largest district of the city, located in the far north, a place where almost no light of the spires reaches. It is not crime that kills the people here, but starvation and sickness. The parts at the edges of the town are not only littered with scrap, but with the bodies of those that found their end their, with no one to clean the streets. Yet it is also a place of unseen kindness, especially compared to the rest of the Tainted City. Instead of gangs, the streets here are controlled by groups that have dedicated their times and resources to the slums.

Scrap Reclamation Factory: Located south, close to the spire, the factory is the main source of income for the parts of the population that are not part of a criminal organizations, or own a business there. Unusable scrap is taken apart, packed and shipped to scrap markets all over the galaxy. The ownership of the factory is true to the spirit in flux, but only rarely do groups rise up to take it, as the workers of the factory will defend it to their dieing breath.

Blight lounge: A common meeting place for bounty hunters, information brokers and other freelancers, the blight lounge is a rough place even by the standards of the Tainted City. Whoever enters it can expect to experience multiple deaths while being inside. Yet it is on of the most visited establishment in the city, as there is always work to be found or a bounty to be claimed. It is also very popular by those only visiting the tainted city, and is commonly referred as the only place that serves good drinks in the whole city. It is located in the eastern part of the city, in a medium distance to the spires.

The Black Port: The largest spaceport of the city, commonly called the Black port is one of the most inviting places in the whole city. Used by many, there is a high demand for work there, with maintenance crews keeping the place running and almost clean most of the time. Located directly below the spires, it can make the Tainted City look much less riddled with decay than it actually is, often leading first timer to believe that the stories were exaggerated or completely made up.

The Junk Market: The main district for trade and shops is the junk market, located east of the Scrap gallery. A rather friendly place in relation to the rest of the city, the market is under no ones control, one of the few things enforced by the city's ruler Darth Abyss. Without turf wars taking place there, it quickly grew into the place with the highest level of wealth and security inside the city, and often pulls outsiders towards the city. Everything, from common items like food and tech, to illegal black market items like weapons and drinks are sold here.

Citadel of the Darkness: Located in the eastern edge of the city, the Citadel serves as outpost of the Abyss Academy for the members that decide to take a trip to the city. Other than the rest of the city, the Citadel has its own power source, and is not build out of scrap, but an actual structure planned and build with Abyss resources. There the acolyte of the academy can live while they are in the city. In case of an emergency, the Citadel comes with a bunker complex, where those close to Abyss can hide and wait out an attack.

Red Light District: The district furthest south of the spire, is the notorious Red Light District. Openly advertised as a place of disreputable fun, the district is actually a lesson in anarchy gone wrong. Here the flux of power comes into play with a constant gang wars, were groups emerge and die every day, were violence rules the streets, and absolutely everything is allowed. Often first timers end up here in the search of a quick thrill, but end up broke and beaten up when they are lucky, or dead if they are not. Only those in the red light district sometimes doubt Abyss control over the city, but the power of the sith lord keeps the district in a fragile balance as no one actually would be able to overthrow him.

Outsider Farm: Located north, outside of the city are the Outsider Farms. A prime example of urban gardening, the Farms are used to grow simple plants, with simple tools in an attempt to slowly terraform the dead husk that is Malachor V back into a world where people would like to live. Sponsored by Darth Abyss personally, the farms are under constant guard, and get supplied with everything the could need.

History: At first it started with a few huts and houses, made out of the scrap from all the ships that crashed down onto the planet due to its powerful, dangerous gravity field that easily can make ships of all sizes slide out of control and drop down on the ground. Then it grew, as the Floating Market rose in the sky. From there it was only a matter of time. A few huts became a village, run by criminals and dropouts alike, in a constant state of decay and rebuilding. Severing mainly as a oversized warehouse without a roof for the Market above, the nameless village felt the same pull than the market.

Darth Abyss watched over this development watchful, yet patient, allowing everything to grow on its own, with only very minor influences once or twice, until he felt that there was something big coming. Other than most city's, this one didn't build over time, but almost over night. When a group of society dropouts heard about what they believed to be anarchist paradise, they came. Not a few hundred, but thousands of the, called by the promise of freedom to rule themselves.

That was the time Abyss established his semi rule on the City of the Unchained, not by violence, but by his understanding of how to manipulate the chaos of a city in constant flux. Very soon the people realized that the sith lord could pull strings and make groups rise and fall in a matter of days, so he could keep the control. Since then it has become an undoubted fact that it is Abyss who can rule and control the city if he would want to, but no one sees a reason to rise up against him, as he allows the city to exist for the most part.

One day, there were the spires, and with them came light and power. It was the day, the former village became what is now named the Tainted City, a home for the lost and forgotten on a world lost and forgotten build upon sweat, blood and scrap to be warzone and haven for the lawless of the galaxy. The reclamation of Malachor V had begun.

Intent: to create a town on Malachor V in a overarching project to make Malachor a new hub for crime.
