Again and again the enchanting prayer rang out in the bizarre alien architecture of the large chamber. Through telepathic shrieks strange undulating cerebral bulbous brains with long tentacles that held them upright congregated in a swarm. The swarm drew its telepathic attention towards a face which was embedded into the far wall. The face was enormous and it was comprised of various panels of technology and circuitry. It held a female appearance - strangely humanoid - but uneasy in appearance. Its eyes were shut and its lips flat and thin. All around different arcs of light passed through the exposed synapses of the tentacled brains. The light of intelligence passed their synapses and into the very end tendrils of their tentacles before passing into grooves in the floor. Behind them, their sleeping brethren were awakened. From grotesque womb sacks they slid out from their incubation to add their light to that of the already large swarm. The light funnelled into the eyes of the face in the wall. And the silent chanting continued.

The lights in the face began to blink brighter and brighter. The steel circuitry of the face's eye lids began to peel aside and brilliant green and white light bleed from her sockets and showered the swarm in a brilliance. This creature of technology awoke and her first words was a shrill gasp of life that if heard by any human ears would render the man brain dead as the information unleashed by that gasp would overload any capacity we possessed to digest data.
The face blinked into life and stared down at the swarm.

The swarm shuddered at her sudden return to life. The all huddled together and combined their telepathic shrieking into a single prayer. "Mother...command us." The prayer spoke. The face flexed its electronic muscles and the walls began to bulge and warp as if the very fabric of the chamber was her skin and flesh. The forms of fingers began to bulge from the floor until they rose in a maelstrom of cables and wires and began to form the various tendon of a forearm. The hands cupped the swarm and raised them to her eye-level."Mother is pleased?!" the prayer wept. The mother, the face, stretched her metallic lips and from her bowels a metallic mechanical series of utterances vocalized her digitized sentiments.
"Is it you who have awoken me?" She thought at her swarm.
"Yes mother, we were born to awaken thee." the brains replied.
The mother stretched her smile even further. The hands lowered them onto the floor and then melted back into the warped holes that birthed them.
"You've done well my children. My awakening from my slumber marks a rebirth of our species." the mother hissed in electronic gasps, "Our planet is dead, but we will find another soon. Hmmm". She closed her eyes and in the vast infinity that was her simulacrum brain, within a matter of seconds she downloaded and studied the data her spores had been harvesting over the centuries. After her research she unleashed a pleasured moan. "They have advanced to a delicously new level of technoadvancement. Good. Good. The harvest is ripe for the picking."
She opened her eyes and gazed down at her children. The lights of the chamber brightened and new corners of the chamber where illuminated. Hundreds more womb sacks were activated and more doors opened. The mother's tone became strict and cruel.
"Awake Necrodune. The Swarm shall be reborn. Go my children and do as Mother has commanded." she hissed. And then her eyes closed and her silence fell upon them with a heavy pressure.
The Forge Mother of the Palashintu had awoken through many of the copies of herself she had left many millennia ago. The deluge would soon return. And all would be consumed into a technological flood.
