The Stalking Dead

-Setting-

https://youtu.be/kkmI-NyEw5I

When the world goes to shit, what will you do to survive? Teth used to be a city of bright lights, life, drama, ...possible Credits. Now, it is like every other planet that's been infected - filled with the scum of the universe. ..Rakghouls. Everyone with half a brain knew it was coming; the zombie apocalypse. That's all that the world had come to. A violent decaying world of death.

People around the world were getting gnawed on and it became a problem.
Only the higher ups knew what happened when they all became like this...
No one without what one would call a "writer" knows what caused it, though, because some of the first of the beasts had bath-spice in their systems when they were re-killed and autopsied people believed it was that. But not all of them did. But does it really matter what caused the outbreak? what caused the downfall of this city and possibly the world? Because at the end of the day, all you have to do is have to kill to survive.

-CHARACTER-

The world of Teth had already been overrun by Rakghouls but that didn't bother the HRD assassin right now.
Break wasn't one to do random acts of kindness...
and he wasn't about to do so now. He owed a favor to an old planet official who's family was trapped among the wreckage, he hired Break to try and find them or possibly bring back their bodies for several thousand credits each. His ship was large but it was also quiet as it entered the planets atmosphere. Teth was in ruins and he was VASTLY outnumbered...so what else was new? He wasn't stupid or anything he knew to hire help before he came. Everyone could use a friend. ..or bodyguard. But mostly he was looking for people to help him mow down the Bantha fodder known as the Rakghoul. The Ship touched down in an area just far enough from any large groups of Rakghouls to go unnoticed. Slowly and silently the doors opened under cover of night Break would wait patiently for the rest of the team to join him.

Taenor had answered a call for some help in extracting people from a rakghoul infested planet. Not exactly the prettiest place in the universe, but the credits would spend and he needed the experience. As he couldn't pilot a paper airplane if he tried, Taenor had met Break, the leader of the operation, at a rendezvous point and traveled down tot he planet with the human-esque droid. As they were making their final descent to the planet, Taenor was checking over his gear one last time. Along with his normal gear, he brought with him a combat axe. His armored fists could serve as weapons, but sometimes you needed a force multiplier, and besides that, he wanted to test various melee weapons out before he began forging his own beskad.

Taenor followed the droid out of the ship, his Bwatha cradled in his arms like it was his baby. The visor on his helmet was up, he was going to savor the open air while he could, he wasn't going to open up again unless they were away from the rakghouls again.

"What's the word on location, boss man?" Boss man came out a little strange, normally Taenor only went on operations with other Mandalorians, and he would refer to them in their language. He wasn't going to mistake any of his current comrades for his normal vod, though.

"Go to Teth, they said!"
Bam! A rakghoul's head exploded.
"It'll be fun, they said!"
Bam! Another freak bit the dust.

Nyx sighed as rakghoul blood splashed onto her jacket. She just had the damn thing cleaned. The street rat made a futile attempt to wipe it off before more rakghouls rushed her, but gave up and raised one of her blaster pistols preparing to pull the trigger.
The punk mercenary had gone to Teth for work. . . only to find herself fighting off freaks a day or so later.

As more corpses piled up, she was made aware of a ship coming down behind her. She just shrugged. If they helped her, they would help her. If they didn't, she'd shoot them in the face.

Break stepped out of the ship taking care to make sure all of his weapons were in place. He left his bag behind in favor for a utility belt.
He brought along 4 incendiary grenades, 4 EMP grenades and 2 charges of plastic explosives.
Along with that his trusty plasma canon and vibro-katana. Full load out ready for action. And for the last time on this trip he pulled out his holo pad. A small map of the city came up even detailing the many tunnels under the city

"Here"
A small red dot on the map lit up in one of the tunnels in the middle of the city.
"In the safety holdout there should be a couple hundred survivors there...being generous of course. .. but I have confirmed that the family of out client did check into that safehouse." He placed the holo pad back in the ship.
"Now while there are more than out targets in there we are only to bring HIS family members out with us. Any more than that and we risk attracting a Horde of these monsters. And I don't know about you but I only have so many clips for this gun and so many swings with a sword before it dulls."
Break hit the side of the ship signaling all of the passengers were out. The door closed and it could be heard locking tight.

"We have 72 hours to make it there and back. After that the ship will be taking off without us."
He loaded the plasma canon as he spoke.
That being said we do have orbital support once this bad boy takes off. And we have 3 supply drops ready: A minigun, more ammo and stimpacks.
But let's try to use them sparingly because the blast radius tends to give off out position and attract these bastards."
He pointed in the direction of the safehouse. If we get through this quickly and in one piece I might be able to sweeten our deal Mando."
He smiled a bit then gave the motion to move out.

"A perfect example of organic's chaos." Ultimatum spoke to himself as he tried to return to the ship he had stolen. Coming to Teth had been an accident, a fortunate one though. He had been escaping his 'master' and now he was free to accomplish the goals that he had set himself. This planet was the epitome of what organic sentients did to one another.

He didn't rush as he walked. He could tell that there were about three or four creatures in his vicinity. He was trying to classify these creatures, his mind searching the HoloNet for the name. Of course, the HoloNet was very large and there were many, many possible creatures. However, he would soon have the answer. Even as he walked, he felt an enraged animal jump, try to bite him, and scratch wildly at his back. The creature was not aware though that Ultimatum was metal and was incapable of feeling pain or being turned.

He was able to knock the creature off his back with a quick swipe downward, he followed this movement with a punch that threw the animal back four feet. He was able to turn to face two more of the animals before they leaped at him. He knocked one aside with a backhanded swat to the predator's head. Ultimatum felt satisfaction at the loud cracking sound of the creature's neck breaking. His next move was to grab the other creature, who was clawing at the metal being, by the throat. He looked closely at the strange animal, using his free hand to bat away at the creature's attempts to cut his arm. In a moment his system registered an information upload, now he knew what the creature was. A Rakghoul. He let the information come through, analyzing it and filing away what he considered necessary.Ultimatum then punched the ghoul in the face three times, before tossing the animal away.

He walked up the loading ramp of the small freighter, but stopped when his sensors indicated that there were about a dozen of the Rakghouls within the ship. His diagnosis immediately made the assumption that the ghouls had probably done enough damage to the ship that it was no longer in flying condition. He connected to one of the command consoles within the access area. He uploaded his replacement AI into the system and ordered it to begin the self-destruct sequence. He had further calculated that there were probably other people on planet, which meant other ships, which then meant that he no longer need the ship which his 'master' would undoubtedly try to track. He unplugged himself and casually walked down the ramp.

Ultimatum was about five meters from the ship when it became a massive fireball. He could feel the heat, and the pinging of small bits of metal strike his outer casing. He was able to move out of the way just before a larger chunk of scrap metal struck down. By the time the wreck had become a heavily smoking fire, Ultimatum had begun working his way towards the city. However, his sensors indicated that a ship was landing nearby. He began to make his way towards the area where he had calculated it landed. At least in the meantime organic assistance was necessary...

Taenor returned the grin and nodded. He closed the visor on his helmet, but didn't seal it. He only had so much air in the armor and wanted to only use it if he needed to.

"My HUD is showing a large mass of Rakghouls between us and our objective...they don't seem to be moving in any single direction, more like they are converging on one spot." He said, referring to Nyx's predicament. "We've got plenty of ammo to take them out quickly, and it is a direct line to the safehouse you indicated." Taenor was responding over their communication channel, allowing them to remain silent and not attract the Rakghouls. He began to move out in the direction of the mob of rakghouls with Break, Taenor moved several meters to Break's left and stayed abreast of his movements. That way they'd cover the largest amount of enemies without being within each others fields of fire. Just as they were walking out, a fireball went up to their right. It was not directly on their route, but it would attract Rakghouls to it and that might bring them across their path.

Break stepped carefully and swiftly as he moved towards the city. He was happy to be accompanied by the mando. He seemed eager to please and work. 2 things that reminded him of himself.
"10-4, I'm picking that up too. Keep your eyes on the prize not the glory. Nobody sings of a dead mando killed by Rag-Uglies. We're going arou-"
The HRD was cut off by an explosion of fire to his right about 80 meters to be exact. Break didn't waste time giving the signal to move to cover. He knew that the ugly bastards would be swarming this way.
"Get to higher ground. We'll take cover in one of these buildings alright? "
While Break wasn't a Mando himself he always wanted his hired help to go home alive and in one piece.
[member="Taenor Arrocco"]
-----------------WITH THE ROGUE-------------
The Rakghouls themselves were fierce in numbers but her position was giving her the advantage not many could attack at once to give her a lot of trouble but she would run out of ammo before they were all dead and then they would feast upon her flesh once the flesh munchy took a dirt nap. However that is when simultaneously almost every Rakghoul turned its head in the direction of the Blast [member="Nyx"] had been inadvertently saved by the organic hating droid. En Mass all but a few of the ugly bastards ran headlong towards the loud sound of explosion. Perhaps more munchies and crunches had crash landed on the planet. Oh boy they tasted good when cooked...

------------WITH THE HEAVY----------

The droids loud and flashy dinner call had attracted every Rakghoul this side of the city and it wouldn't be long before they were upon him. There seemed to be 3 easy routes he could take. ((Of course the AI could always make his own way this writer doesn't care as long as the others had fun))
1. He could take shelter and go down an abandoned tranzit tunnel to the left.

2. Head into one of the many buildings that surrounds him.

3. Go in guns blazing and try to fend off the mighty Horde of zombies.

[member="Ultimatum"]

Ultimatum calculated possible damages compared to final results. He was by no means under the illusion that he could survive against masses of these creatures, it only took one lucky Rakghoul's claw to cut some necessary wire that would debilitate him. The danger of heading to the buildings was that he could become trapped, though the same could be said of the tunnels. From what the HoloNet said about Rakghouls, they were good at smelling and seeing in the dark. However, there would probably already be many smells in the tunnels that could mask his, and anyways metal didn't have the same tantalizing aroma to these things as flesh. That was probably the largest advantage he had, being metal made the Rakghouls have to think a little more than if they simple smelled a human.

He decided to go into the tunnels. Making a run to the left until he reached what appeared to be a dilapidated transit system underground. The immediate vicinity was empty, however if the Rakghouls followed him then this area would soon be filling up. He ran to a console nearby, hoping to access city functions and see what was still running, unfortunately the computer must have been damaged at some point because it didn't respond when Ultimatum tried to turn it on. Instead of trying to find another computer, Ultimatum ran down onto what had once been tracks for the station. He began running as fast as he could, which was nowhere near as fast as a Rakghoul but he could keep running for longer than most other beings.

He was somewhat upset that he hadn't been able to meet up with the ship and whoever was aboard, however he hoped to meet them again at some point. His thoughts fell to the refuse and decomposing matter that practically surrounded him at the moment. All more proof of the true legacy of organics. They left nothing but garbage behind when they were done with a region. They would remove all resources of possible worth and then move on, destroying whatever ecology had once thrived there. It was a saddening fact, but at the same time so enraging. Sentient organics did not know how to come to an equilibrium with the ecosystems that they lived in but instead destroyed it and made their own.

Break said:
"Get to higher ground. We'll take cover in one of these buildings alright? "
"On the left." Taenor replied before he jumped into action. He turned to the building directly to his left, located a doorway and ran inside. Some point during the infection there must have been rioting as the door was busted down. Taenor swapped his Bwatha for his combat axe and ran up a few flights of stairs and onto one of the residential floors. He paused in front of a doorway, trying the knob to see if it was locked. It was. Taenor took a step back and kicked the door right over the lock. His weight and strength blew the lock through the doorjamb on the far side. Inside he found an apartment that looked to have been lived in, though no one was there at present. In all likely hood the residents had gotten infected while out and just never returned. Taenor made sure that the apartment was clear, then switched to his Bwatha again and stood by the window, waiting and watching.

-With the Rescue Mission-
As soon as Break said the words [member="Taenor Arrocco"] was already on the job. Good to know the Mandalorian was already a well trained soldier Break covered the rear as Taenor took point. Taking position at the top of the stairs his canon ready to fire at the first sign of one of the ghoulish creatures.
When the mando busted open the door bodies of the deceased were strewn about the room. Not in a gruesome manner but in a peaceful position. These people died of suffocating, most of them in their sleep from the looks of it. Only a small few looked to have tried to make an attempt for the door.
"Careful, there is probably a gas leak in here. No firearms."
He noted to his comrade. Break then took the lead as they explored the room.
That's when he noticed what was out there. For a split second from outside one of the large glass windows Break noticed a very large metallic figure.
"I've got eyes on a large metallic entity heading down the tunnels possibly a droid."
The Human replica droid had THOUSANDS of droid models in his memory but that one didn't fit any of them.
Then he noticed the large Crowd of Rakghouls chasing after it.
"Ho, he's got some company on his tail. Take a look at the one rook."
Rook...it kind of felt right to call the mando that Break would say it would stick for now if the mando allowed.

- With [member="Ultimatum"] -

The Rakghouls hot on his trail the AI swiftly made his way into the tunnels. It was a wise choice as the Rakghoul Horde had food on the brain and didn't acknowledge his scent as he made his way underground.
If the AI noticed he wasn't being followed he would notice that along with most of the tunnels being barricaded that there was a lone public transit vehicle waiting at in one of the tunnels
And inside this vehicle would sit a lone droid connected to the small and beatdown hovercraft only saying the same phrase repeatedly
"Welcome aboard stranger! Put the money in the Box and we can TAKE O - OFF. OFF. OFF.OFF."
it would repeat the last word over and over as if malfunctioning until it rebooted and started over.

When the explosion went off behind her, Nyx was in fact surprised.
But, she was even more surprised when the freaks started ignoring her, instead gooing straight for the noise. Just as well, she figured. She didn't really have the ammo to deal with that horde, anyway.

When she was once more alone, the delinquent reached out with the Force, trying to get a read on how many other life forms were in the area. To her surprise, she picked up three non-freaks in in the vicinity; one organic, and what felt like two droids.

The organic and one droid were together, the second alone. She decided her chances were better with the group, and headed that direction, whistling as she went.

Ultimatum at first found it surprisingly quiet in this filth filled place. It always seemed to him that organics almost enjoyed living in areas of waste. The only places that he had found that organics did keep pristine was either in their primitive forms of organic repair facilities and scientific research areas. Even in those two places there were always somethings that could compromise the organic's fragile health systems. They were such a pitiable species, so weak and yet always wanted to be the leader and in control. It seemed natural to them, that the strongest and most hardy be the workforce while the weaker and more cunning were the leaders. This was not logical, those that were weak and on top would exploit those that were strong, leading to a paradox where the strong are manipulated to fight each other, complaining about the leadership, and all the time the weak are still in command. That, above most else, was as good a reason as any that eventually all organics must be eliminated... or at the very least all sentient organics.

When his sensors picked up the vehicle and its robotic inhabitant, Ultimatum made a quick search through necessary HoloNet records. It was probably public transportation, which meant that it would probably require a payment transaction before being willing to give any services. Another strike against organics sentients, they always require something for something, tip for tap as the old saying goes. Few of them seem to have understood the concept of working for a greater cause while expecting nothing in return. That was a good thing about artificials, they worked the majority of the time for nothing and therefore were capable of more impacting acts than any organic.

He stepped aboard, feeling a loss in friction under on foot as it stepped on something organic, at least it seemed organic. It didn't have the consistency of oil or other necessities of the artificial lifeform but felt more pulpy. Ultimatum had to listen three times before the words were fully comprehensible, he looked around, there was no box in the open, the vehicle seemed to beaten down to make anything easily visible. Even if he could see the box, Ultimatum didn't have any physical credits on him, he had the ability to transfer funds from his previous master's accounts, but nothing physical.

He decided instead to talk, he didn't enjoy taking over other artificial's computers, they were like him except they hadn't been freed yet. "I am sorry, but I do not have any physical currency on me at this time. Could I pay later when the money is available?"

[member="Break"]

As soon as [member="break"] mentioned gas, Taenor sealed his suit. The last thing he wanted was to suffocate silently.

Break said:
"Ho, he's got some company on his tail. Take a look at the one rook."
"Rook?" The mandalorian asked as he moved to the window and watched [member="ultimatum"] moving towards and into the tunnels. Before the droid got into the tunnels, Taenor had his suit capture an image of the droid. "I'd like to know what you mean by Rook. I've never seen that type of droid in my life, you?" He asked as he continued to scan the street outside for any sign of Rakghouls approaching. At the edge of his senses, the Force kind, he felt the tickle of someone extending their own force senses and brush up against his awareness. Instinctivey, Taenor moved to another window in time to spot [member="nyx"] moving toward their building. "Heads up. We've got a live one approaching. I think she is coming to us, I felt her reach out with the Force. We should go downstairs and meet her, if she's not infected or otherwise a detriment to our health we can bring her with us, otherwise we can shoot her downstairs and not need to ruin this hidey hole we have."

-----UP TOP-----

Break watched as the shiny droid walked into the tunnel as he spoke to the Mandolorian.
"This is the first time you're been on one of my crews. Usually new guys get called the rookie. Or rabbit, you however have plenty of experience and need a cooler name. Thusly you are the Rook."
He scanned his databanks looking for a look alike droid.
"It seems he's a custom job."
He noted what the Mando said and nodded. It was always genuinely nice to have a force sensitive person on the crew along with him they were always so helpful for stuff like this.
"Dually noted. Let's move down and give her a welcome wagon then shall we?"
He chuckled.

-----WITH THE ROGUE-----
The street was eerily vacant. A few things on fire here and there and most of the buildings were either almost pristine as the day they were built or jaggedly destroyed and surrounded by glass. The stark differences were uncanny to say the least, as if some were spared and others doomed to be destroyed. There was probably a metaphor in that last sentence. As the rogue jedi walked around whistling her tune she would eventually catch the auditory systems of Break alerting them to her presence as they were already downstairs and waiting for her.

-----WITH THE HEAVY IN TRANZIT-----

The large AI was only met with an automated response.
"PHYSICAL CREDITS, MAY BE IS SUED AT THE CLOSEST TOKEN REDEMPTION KIOSK!"
To which the droid only pointed at a large broken token dispenser at the west wall of the loading station. It had a large picture of a more clean and better for ware transit droid along with the word "TOKENS" written across the top.
A few metallic chips lay strewn about the floor and leading to a rather messy control room as if someone used them to enter and lock themselves in. If one were to look closely they would note there would be a rust colored mess up in the glassteel windows in the shape of a hand to the left of the door was a box that said "TOKENS"
the driver remained at his post repeating his pre-recorded phrases. It didn't look like he was leaving anytime soon. And water could be heard trickling somewhere in the quiet transit systems.
[member="Taenor Arrocco"] [member="Ultimatum"] [member="Nyx"]

Ultimatum nodded his head in thanks, before remembering that this fellow artificial appeared to be little more than a simple machine with very little actual programming. It had probably been made that way to save money. He moved out of the vehicle and first scanned the area. His sensors, visual, audio, and radar, did not pick up any organic movement within the immediate vicinity. He walked slowly to the chips on the ground. He looked at them, seeing that they appeared to be old tokens, unfortunately the ones on the ground had probably been trodden upon as they were bent out of shape and seemed fairly beaten up.

He turned his attention to the box of tokens and opened it slowly, forcing any locks and other security systems to break. It wasn't out of fear that he moved slowly, so much as to make hearing him difficult. Being about 200 kilograms meant that he made a lot of noise walking around normally. In this case, noise might attract the Rakghouls, which would not be a good thing. As he opened the box he found a number of the tokens, most of which were dusty or covered in an organic material that he did not want to know about. Ultimatum pulled out about a dozen tokens and then moved over to the redemption kiosk. He placed one token in, too see if the machine actually worked. Miraculously, it appeared that it was working, though it was slow. A trio of credits fell into a small container at the side of the machine, made to be easily reachable for the average organic. He quickly put the other eleven tokens in and was rewarded with a soft clinking of credits as they fell into the container. That sound, while incredibly soft and probably not loud enough for the sound to travel far, appeared to be almost deafeningly loud to Ultimatum, who had increased his audio pickup by almost triple for the scanning he had done earlier.

Ultimatum swiped up the credits deftly and walked back to the vehicle. He turned down his audio receptors, the droid driver was plenty loud enough and damaging fine tuned equipment, specifically his audio sensors, was not something he wanted to happen. He pulled himself in and dropped six credits into the box. He then waited to see if the driver would respond.

[member="Break"]

Taenor nodded and swiftly moved from the room, bwatha held to his shoulder, scanning left and right as he moved. He slipped down the stairs as silently as possible and took up a position in the back of the lower level shop. His rifle was trained loosely on the front door. He waited, knowing that his droid employer would be following him down and that [member="nyx"] would be showing up in a moment or two.

Nyx stopped in front of the door, taking a deep breath as she got her sword ready, and opened the door.
The shop was a ruined as practically everywhere else, but with one fairly big exception; there was someone alive in this dump.

The street rat blinked as she spotted [member="Taenor Arrocco"], and looked him over. Mando. Great.
Then the noticed the rifle aimed at her, and she quickly drew one of her blaster pistols, aiming it at the Mandalorian.
She was not dying on this dump of a planet!

"How about you do us both a favor, and put the weapon down, hm?" She stated, not wishing to get in a fight, but not willing to back down, either.

[member="Break"]
[member="Ultimatum"]

'Hmm, cute.' Was his first thought, he really didn't have the intention of shooting her unless she had proven violent. In that event he'd have shot her and not thought much about it, but all the same he was glad she wanted to talk. Behind the screen of his helmet, a quirked eyebrow would just barely be seen as he took in her pistol against his rifle.

"I gotta say, I love an underdog. How about we both put our weapons up? I'm only being prepared in case you turned out to be some psycho...cause who else would be on this planet?" He said, a grin audible in his voice as he began to pull his weapon down from her. He would keep it cradled to his shoulder until she had her weapon facing down or away, then he would relax and stand straight.

-----WITH THE TEAM-----

Break scanned the girl.
"She's clean, as for any mental disorders she can prove she's as crazy as us later. The coast is clear for now so let's get moving.
He turned and looked at the rogue.
"If you want a ride off this planet and some extra action kicked your way come with us. Only stipulation? We need your name and some identification. "
Break wasn't sure about letting someone just join the crew but if someone else was willing to be here they could be used.
"I've got some readings of a power source nearby.
If we're lucky we can find where it's being diverted to and follow it to our target. Ready to head out?"
Break took in the surrounding area 2 ways seemed to lead to the target.
"From what I can see, we can head up and travel by rooftops to get around unnoticed, or we can travel by ground and get there quicker."
He looked at [member="Taenor Arrocco"]
"You want to choose the route?"

-----WITH THE HEAVY-----

As the vehicle disembarked the AI could notice the bus like ship would lurch with every turn and it seemed that the windows had been boarded shut with wooden planks from the inside as if someone were trying to make sure nothing could make it inside. Abou 10 minutes into the ride the ship gave out all at once as the craft seemed to jump. going off its path into a free flight. Then it became apparent why This was the only one left. A pileup of 3 More of the poorly made vehicles had blocked the main tunnel
Forcing it to come to an abrupt stop. Thankfully a maintenance tunnel with a locked door was nearby, [member="Ultimatum"] Could walk further down. The tunnels, open the door or head back up to the surface. However sounds could be heard from behind Ultimatum the Rakghouls could have possibly heard the commotion of the stop.

Ultimatum sighed, why did this happen to him? He had simply been trying to escape and now he was in some messed up world that was far too covered in organics for his liking. He had heard of Coruscant, a world made up of cities, practically controlled by computers and droids. That would have been a paradise to him, but instead he was trapped on this planet full of decaying organic material, failing robotics, and insane organics.

He jumped off the debilitated vehicle and began making his way towards the surface, he couldn't outrun them and staying down here was a strategic nightmare. No matter where he ran he would eventually be found out. On the surface he could get into one of the many buildings, maybe reinforce a locked door and wait out the ghouls. Maybe he could meet some other people up there, the idea that he had had would obviously be thought of by organics.

He moved as quickly as his heavy metal body could, but he could also hear the Rakghouls' feet pounding ever nearer.
