OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Sotemvotii
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins: Ujotthon
  • Average Lifespan: 40-50 years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: Large, powerful, canid species that appear to have skull like masks on their faces, though it is actually a part of their face, along with a pair of large antlers.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type 1
  • Average Height of Adults: Males are typically around 2.2 to 2.5 meters tall and Females range from 1.8 to 2 meters tall.
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Under the fur their skin is gray.
  • Hair color: The shades of their fur can range from snow white to many shades of gray, and midnight black.
  • Distinctions: The Sotemvotii are a large, carnivorous race of canids, considered the apex predators of their planet, outside of the Green Sea. Their fur covers their entire body sans the face, which is covered by bone, giving them a rather ghostly and intimidating visage. Unlike most canid species, they do not have tails. They have wickedly sharp claws that can tear into flesh with ease, as well sharp teeth connected to their bony faces, as if they were carved rather than naturally grown like most species' teeth. When a Sotemvotii youngling grows, they shed their old bone like mask, revealing a soft, already growing bone underneath, which will grow into the face of an adolescent, and then when they shed that, their final face will be that of an adult, never to change again.
Males are typically larger than females, with more muscle, wider frames, and larger antlers. Females, on the other hand, are lighter and more nimble, making them superior climbers, be it to chase prey across a mountain or up a tree.
The fur colors differ between the Sotemvotii, usually where their packs typically hunt. If on the snowy mountains or forests, their fur is usually snow white, so as to blend in with their surroundings. Or gray to blend in with the stone, or black to disappear in the midnight sky.
  • Races: While there are mostly no physical differences between the Sotemvotti tribes, there are a few cultural differences. While there are a great many packs that are independent of each other, they have been categorized under 4 different tribes, due to their general behavior when it comes to how they treat those outside their own packs, how they view outsider species, and how they kill their prey. All named and categorized by Eternal Empire researchers and scientists.

Jover: Considered the most honorable and 'civilized' of the classified tribes, the Jover are the largest and most unified. Many Eternal Empire researchers believe that, if left alone, they would become the dominant culture and way of life for their species.
The Jover, when hunting for sport and not food, only go for other creatures that can fight back, be it one of the many predators native to the planet, or one of the recently immigrated Nelvaanian. They will leave children and pregnant women alone, be it out of honor for the defenseless or so that they may grow into future worthy hunts.
They, along with the Utcasen, are also the most likely to form larger groups, or clans, by many packs being combined into one, becoming a small civilization. It is believed to be a mix of natural progress as a species, as well as seeing the success of the Nelvaanians and their settlements. There are even beginnings of slaughter farms, where they breed their own animals for food rather than go out and hunt for it themselves, so that they may use more of their time and energy to hunt for sport and fight worthy foes rather than chase after small prey, though there are only a few examples, the idea slowly spreading.

Utcasen: Also known as 'The Leftovers' by Eternal Empire researchers, the Utcasen are made up of 'lesser stock' so to say. They are typically smaller and less physically impressive, so hunt in larger groups and rely more on ambushing prey, and prefer easier prey rather than hunting for sport and honor. Like the Jover, they are also likely to form clans. They will more than likely ignore the Eternal Empire and the Nelvaanians, though will prey upon them of one is isolated and alone, not caring the age or if one could properly fight back. Food is food.

Vizikar: The Tribe made up of those without pack or clan, cursed to be alone. Be it by being banished from their pack for one reason or another, or being born by an already pack-less Vizikar. They typically stay as far away from other packs territories, sticking by lakes and rivers for fish and other creatures that have the same idea. Though they still hunt in forests and mountainsides, they will leave when they catch a whiff of a clan, as they will more than likely be hunted down and killed for trespassing on their hunting grounds. Their main goal is to survive. Some may form small packs of around 3 or 4, but typically they are alone.
The Vizikar, like the Utcasen, will also tend to stay away from any settlements of the Nelvaanians, but if they grow desperate enough, may stalk the outskirts of a village, and snatch anyone unawares.

Rossver: This tribe is the cruelest of the bunch, lacking the honor of the Jover, the teamwork of the Utcasen, and the quiet pride of the Vizikar. The Rossver seam to worship death, and seek to spread it throughout the planet, to the other tribes, and even each other, any form of loyalty being in direct lineages. They will eat any prey they come across, even one of their own, considered a taboo amongst the rest of their species, the worst of crimes even if one is starving to death.
They seek to wipe out all other tribes not like them, viewing themselves as the purest of their kind and holding onto their more predatory and animalistic instincts.
The Rossver will go after the Nelvaanians the most, besides the other tribes of their own kind, often stalking the citizens, waiting for one to make a mistake, and then strike and cause as much havoc as they can before escaping.
The Eternal Empire is making an effort to eradicate any known packs of this tribe, careful to separate them from the others.

  • Force Sensitivity: Rare
Strengths:
  • Apex Predators: The Sotemvotii are the apex predators of their planet, barring the unnatural creatures that roam the center of The Green Sea, of course. They are top tier survivors and hunters, any sentient race that has not evolved to be a natural predator, such as a human or rodian, will have no chance against them if they are without a proper blaster or armor. And even then, if you let one get too close, it's over.
  • Quick Learners: The Sotemvotii are quick to learn their mistakes and copy other species' advancements if allowed to examine them enough and if they genuinely believe it is better than what they were doing previously.
Weaknesses:
  • No Basic: Much like other species such as the Wookie or Geonosian, they are physically unable to speak in any other language than their own, making any form of communication difficult, as their language has not yet been recorded or translated, being growls and barks.
  • Primitive Technology: While the Sotemvotii are quick to copy other species behavior and basic advancements, they are still in a primitive age with low technology. They do not have advanced medicine, relying on herbs and fire for wounds. No blasters, using only their claws, natural strength, and the occasional spear as a long-range weapon.
  • No Force Resistance: Force sensitivity is very rare for this species, and due to their more primal-like tendencies, it is fairly easy to use the Force against them. Be it to coerce them to leave, or to crush their windpipes. However, when faced against a Force-sensitive, they will adapt and try ambush or stealth as to not be caught by the space magic.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivore. Their diet consists of whatever prey they are able to get their claws on. While they do prefer the challenge as well as the prestige it brings when taking down another predator, they will go after more typical prey for food to bring back to their pack or clan.
  • Communication: The Sotemvotii communicate via growls, barks, huffs, and howls.
  • Technology level: The Sotemvotii are in an era of early development of civilization, having recently begun using tools, not too long before the Nelvaanians and Eternal Empire set up shop on their planet. With many rightfully assuming that the Sotemvotii are copying them, to the best of their ability. And while unable to properly use any of the blasters they may find on those they have killed for the most part, they did take interest in the more primitive traditional spears and other such weapons they would find on Nelvaanian hunters, those who either used them for the additional challenge or refused to use technology outright. They use fire, to keep warm during harsh winters and climates, to close wounds, and even, after a few hunters seeing such, cooking meat on a spit with herbs and berries they can find. Though many still prefer their meat raw, others have taken a liking to the additional flavor.
  • Religion/Beliefs: The Sotemvotii, as a whole, worship two things. The Hunt, and Nagyfaisten, The God Tree. It is their belief that The God Tree is the heart of the planet, and that the planet itself is alive, the creator of all life that inhabits it. And that they are destined to be the rulers of the planet, as The God Trees chosen children, to become the mightiest of the God Trees' children. However, many, many thousands of years ago, they Sotemvotii were force out of The Green Sea, the great forest that surrounds The God Tree, due to a great many powerful predators that lurked at its heart, forcing them to migrate throughout the planet lest they are hunted to extinction.
Many saw it as a test from their God Tree, to prove themselves the mightiest of the planets predators.
There is a legend, that one day the mightiest of The Sotemvotii will be born, and lead them back to The Green Sea, and become the rightful rulers of their world until they are able to visit other worlds and become the greatest of hunters and warriors on them as well.
They also believe in reincarnation: Where, if one were to die during a hunt or in battle, they are able to be reincarnated as a mighty creature. But if one died in cowardice or old age, they would be reincarnated as prey, doomed to forever be reincarnated as such for all time.
  • General behavior: The Sotemvotii are a pack-oriented race, sticking together in smaller groups. Until recently, with the arising of many clans, multiple packs merged together with a single alpha to lead them, the largest of which barely succeeded 100. When the alpha of a pack or clan dies, the strongest and most successful of their hunters takes their place. If there a multiple that wish to take the role, then a battle of honor takes place, where the winner takes their place as alpha, and the loser is either banished or killed.
Be it pack or clan, they have multiple roles that are carried out.

The Alpha is their pack's or clan's leader. They are the ones who dictate where to hunt, if they should battle against other packs or clans for territory or hunting grounds, and how best they can survive.
Betas are the lead hunters and scouts of the clan, the most respected outside of the Alpha himself, and the candidates for the next Alpha.
Chi's are the younger hunters, those that just reached adolescents and left their mother's huts to live and fend for themselves. They typically accompany more experienced Betas on hunts, to learn and gain experience. They are considered Betas when they slay their first predator. The larger and more dangerous, the more renown they receive amongst their pack or clan.
Deltas are the ones that cannot hunt but still have their uses. Mothers are stuck in their huts, raising and nurturing their young, teaching them the basics of life, and caring for them until they are ready to leave the hut after 1 year. The pregnant are also of this category, as they would simply slow down other hunters as well as put their young in danger.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The history of the Sotemvotii is little known, as they themselves were do not keep records, due to being primitives, and past researchers seeing their race as simple animals and beasts for a long time, not bothering to research their behavior. All that is really known is that they originated from The Green Sea, the great forest that harbors the force nexus of their planet. But a couple of thousand years ago, they were forced to leave, as they were being hunted to extinction by the other great predators of the vast forest. And any attempt of returning has been met with death.
Since then they migrated to all around the globe, becoming the apex predator everywhere else, be it in the lesser forests, mountains, the coldest of deserts, and so on.
But now, there are rumors of Sotemvotii braving The Green Sea, be it for a religious sort of pilgrimage, or some sort of retaking of their "Homeland".

I love this submission. There is just one quick change. You mention the stone age in a couple of places, and while I understand what you are getting at that is a direct title for a period in earth/human history. As such the codex submission guideline prohibiting earth references applies here.

What could work is simply changing these out for the word primitive. If you want describe further something to help the author picture the stone age in their mind, that would be okay. We just need to avoid the use of the terminology. I hope this makes sense.

Tag me once you get that fixed or if you have any questions!
