Faction The Solution for Overwhelming Odds (Darkwire)

A breath left the teen, allowing relief to flood through her veins. Daiya glanced at Peyton, then down to the pouch set on the table. Caution still tempered her approach, but as she reached the pouch, the glistening liquid inside the stim canisters drew her eye to them. Reassured by the freedom fighter's words, and Daiya had little reason to doubt them, her hand reached toward one of the stims.

No, two.

"Astral. These could come in handy." Daiya grinned at Peyton, playing with the slender capsules between her fingers. More than once, the young shadowrunner could have used these in a tight spot if they'd been known. As long as she wasn't going to have another vice to pay for. "Thanks."

It didn't take long for others to rise to the challenge, just not the one Daiya was expecting from Peyton today. The woman had more than stims tucked up her sleeve, assuming a posture the young shadowrunner was used to from CorpSec. Her eyes narrowed in on the stun baton, and she took a step back.

Ruby's voice distracted the teen, drawing her back to the showdown starting up in front of her. Her mouth opened in response, giggles coming instead of words to see Ruby face off against Johnny Diamonds. As eager as Daiya was to watch that match, she caught Samnai out of the corner of her eye. Imbued with the confidence of the stims rolling between her fingers, she marched over to poke the woman in the chest.

Peyton had asked them to pair off.

"You and me, how 'bout it?" Daiya demanded, slipping the stims in a pouch on her utility belt. She glanced over at Peyton, eyeing the stun-baton in the freedom fighter's hands, and pressed her lips together. Her fingers lamented the grip of her blasters as the young shadowrunner pulled them out in full view of Peyton and Samnai, holding them lightly to avoid any implication, and tossed them over onto the padding of her sweatshirt.

Just in her armor now, Daiya felt better protected than most against the older, bigger woman in front of her. Her mouth grinned wide as she asked, "You game?"

If only Daiya didn't let her mouth lead over her brain.

'Seriously? Feth it.' the young Corellian thought to himself. This oughta be real interesting, all things considered. 'Let's narrow this down some, eh Johnnyboy? One; you're a former Jedi Knight. Two; you've been trained in hand-to-hand combat by some of the best in the galaxy. Three; if you start showing off now, not only will you look like an even more colossal nerf-herder, but you'll be giving up the ghost. Do that, jig's up, now isn't it?' He sighed lightly, twisting himself ninety degrees, gripping the crate, and hopping off to his feet. He shrugged his shoulders, and his jacket slipped off, down to his wrists, where he pulled one hand through, and twirled the jacket around, setting the now heap of cloth on the crate next to him.

"Never seen a girl confuse Diamonds with 'whatever' before. First for everything, I suppose."

He raised an arm to chest level, and began to un-do the strap to one of his armored gloves. Slipping it off, he repeated the process with the other hand. As this was going on, he never let his gaze wander from Ruby, assessing her body language. No proper form, eyes squinted until almost shut, and no real tension in her musculature yet. Barroom brawler, eh? Well, we'll see about that. 'Remember, John-boy. No using the Force in a manner which might give you away. Do. Not. Forget.' He was beginning to focus on the task at hand when that focus was interrupted by incessant giggling. His head dropped, and he sighed yet again, putting index finger and thumb to the bridge of his nose, rubbing lightly. This had to be one of the most off-her-rocks girls he'd ever met, this Daiya. 'Forget it, Johnny. Sparring, task at hand. Got it? Yeah? Good.'

He raised one arm up to chest height, the other dangling loosely at his side, as he set his feet, and looked toward Ruby. Johnny was damn fast, even without the Force. It was all about using your opponent's body against them. Weight, angles, motions. It was all connected, and like the 'lectricity that flowed on the wires above their heads to provide power to the lights, he pivoted on the ball of his left foot, hand snapping forward toward Ruby's own right wrist. The goal here was to grab & twist her arm as he moved forward, the result hopefully to be Ruby flipping over herself, landing flat on her arse. Simple, yet effective.

Samnai looked at the wide, confident grin on the younger girl’s face, the finger poking her, and said one word, “Okay.”

She took off her jacket along with her two guns and knives, neatly placing them on the side. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Johnny pinching his nose—relatable. She looked Daiya Daiya in the eyes, cracked her knuckles…

Then promptly punched her in the face,
hard.

Ruby heard Daiya giggle when she challenged Johnny. Cool it, girl, this is a sparring match, not a date, she wanted to say. But instead she kept her eyes on her opponent, watching with a furrowed brow as he took off his jacket and then his gloves. He seemed to be sizing her up, appraising her skills.

Well, the joke was on him because she didn't have any skills.

In the blink of her heavily-lined (and smudged) eye, Johnny's hand was around her wrist. And then she was suddenly on her back. Oh, what the what. Yeah, this wasn't unusual as far as Ruby's fights went... at least he hadn't elbowed her in the face for what would probably be the third or fourth time.

She couldn't see Daiya and Samnai, but she hoped they were concentrating on their own fight and not watching her make a fool of herself. Then, she remembered that Peyton was still there... watching. Ugh.

Ruby rolled onto her side slightly and swung her leg, aiming to hit Johnny in the back of the knees.

The stims that Peyton found were more military in nature , she was not pushing any kind of spice. She did think they were descended from spice, but it was more synthesized and prepped for combat use and to keep someone healed and act least active until they could get to a bacta tank. Just enough to mimic what some Force users could do, after she learned some tricks from them during the Underground time.

She was still Underground, but working on Denon, it made things a bit different. She was here to help this little group in case the worst happened at Denon, all under the guise that it would help them fight off the corpos. What she knew would, but it wasn't only designed for that.

Overwhelming odds, as it were.

"The trick is to know that the stims are to keep you in the fight, or keep you conscious enough to pass out in the right place, y'know, infirmary, landing zone, somewhere with a sawbones? But could give you the burst of adrenaline when you need it."

The blonde and her Sullustan teammate were pacing between the pairs of… well students may be a bit too advanced. But she was glad to see some of them taking it. "One of the things that people like us will need to do, is be smarter, and faster. Weapons help but they can be a crutch. Sometimes the environment can be your saving grace, or even taking a hit, if you know how to fall."

Peyton put her stun batons down, in reach for a very rudimentary Force pull, not that she was going to expose herself here, and gave a sharp whistle, calling attention, and made a motion for Cuan. The Sullustan had a bit more mass than her, and she knew his weakness but she knew how to take the hits he'd deal out.

"What you want to do is prep for their moves. Watch your foe, each species moves a bit different."
The blubreen moved as Cuan came at her, dealing jabs and hooks as she stepped back and to the side being where he wasn't. Until she did mistime a step and a kick took her down.

Unsurprising to Cuan, Peyton took the hit, rolling around and sweeping her leg into the knee of Cuan, toppling him. A quicker roll and she was up to her knees, ready to throw a jab to Cuan's face, but she was pulling back.

"If you're smaller, you have to be faster, but it can work!" She moved to see who was going to take the fight back up with their partner.

Daiya felt her grin shift sideways, smirking lopsided at her chosen opponent. Her eyes looked over the shorter, more mature woman, sizing her up. The teen had never seen what Samnai could do, not up close, but Daiya had youth and her armor on her side. She watched the woman drop her jacket, studded with weapons, making an appreciative sound in her throat.

It was just two Shadowrunners, facing off, evenly matc—

A splitting crack filled the air, leaving Daiya's face stinging with the sound. The looming ceiling of the warehouse dominated her vision, leaving the teen with the distinct impression of being sucker-punched. A growl rose in her throat as she rolled aside, picking herself quickly from a spot of duracrete free of the woman's shadow. Daiya rose to a half-crouch, her eyes narrow from treachery. "Fething schutta..."

The young shadowrunner didn't have any more words than that for Samnai, leaping forward to charge straight at her. Anger blurred her thoughts and surroundings, focusing Daiya only on the need to get back at the woman for her quick punch. Her face stung, pain leaking through damp eyes to sting hot cheeks all over again. She didn't hear Peyton's encouraging instructions, or see the start of other sparring matches, the young shadowrunner only had what she could feel. A vicious cycle that only pushed her forward, focusing rage into a singular mission: make her opponent suffer.

She kept low, aiming for Samnai's center mass. Daiya had already taken one surprise hit, she wasn't ready to see what else the woman had in store for her. She wanted Samnai on the ground, any way possible. Her arms swept out as she drove toward her opponent, ready to catch the woman if she ducked. Even by her hair if necessary.

Her life hadn't taught her what sparring really meant yet.

Only what survival meant.

Samnai felt pitiless at the tears on Daiya’s enraged face, right before the girl lunged for her. Her stance shifted into a more defensive stance.

She winced as a hand hit against her raised arms—the girl had strength!—before sweeping her leg against the back of Daiya's ankle.

Grabbing one wrist and twisting, the older woman then tried to force her to the ground.

Johnny had stepped through as Ruby's body continued forward, the inertia of her own weight propelling her forward as she flipped over. Johnny chuckled a little bit as she hit the ground with a thud, arse first. As she lay there, she seemed to have a look of disbelief playing on her features. Johnny knew that look all too well. He thought back for a moment to his own beginnings when it came to combat. How did Avalore put it? Couldn't find your way out of a wet paper bag with a torch. Yeah, that was Ava's sense of humor, all right. Missed that girl, but she was off doing who knew what, who knows where. He wasn't a Jedi anymore, and what the Jedi did, not his deal. Ok, Johnny, enough. Spar, remember? Hello? FOCUS!

"You know, if you plan to survive a fight, maybe you oug..." he said, trailing off as he turned his head to look at her. It seemed as if she was pivoting to one side, and with a decent amount of speed behind it from the look of things. Just as quickly as well, her leg came swinging toward his own. She was quick, seemed to have a bit of natural talent, even if she wasn't aware of it. Still, Johnny was quicker. Years of this kind of thing, wasn't something you ever forgot, no matter what you might get into down the road in life. He had to give her that, though. Yeah, smart. Without giving it too much of a showy flourish, he simply hopped over her leg as it came swinging, as if he were skipping rope like a kid.

Continuing to turn around to face Ruby, he squatted down low, and rested his arms on his knees, looking to her with an almost stern look on his face. Very uncharacteristic for ol' Johnnyboy, that's for fething sure. But something was telling him not to make light of this. She could use the help, and maybe you could teach her a few things to keep herself safe down the line. When he spoke, his voice was a bit more even-keeled, and seemed to have an under-tone of actual care in it. Shocking, to be sure. Yet, there it was.

"Honestly, if you are going to go for the legs, you don't go for a broad sweep when you are facing a single opponent. Thrust kick to the knee. Quicker, more effective, and guaranteed to cause some damage." He offered a hand to help her up. "C'mon, I'll show you what I'm talking about. You might learn something useful." he said with a bit of a smile, and a twinkle in his left eye.

Daiya found her confidence bolstered by the woman's reaction when her wrist made contact with Samnai's arm. Youth and adrenaline on her side, the teen pushed further. Her hand grabbed for the shorter woman's arm, feeling only the brush of fabric when her fingers slipped by their quarry. A high-pitched growl grew from her throat, an empty grasp would not have deterred the teen another time, but this was payback time.

Samnai swept her ankle off the ground, turning the growl to a yelp.

Instinct gripped her heart as the teen felt the unbalanced sense of weightlessness, head tipping backward toward the ground. Her hands flew out in an act of desperation, clawing and grabbing for some kind of purchase at the woman's body. If Daiya could just use Samnai to pull herself back up, maybe she could use her strength and momentum to topple her back the other way.

Daiya felt the second contact of their arms coming together, Samnai achieving what she had not. She found her wrist locked within the woman's matured grasp, its halted reach rippling back through the teen's body as a shockwave. Daiya wiggled and wrenched against the woman's grip to no avail, leaving her with only one free hand. It reached up to grab at the hair around Samnai's face to back toward her with all her might, a frantic grapple to wrest back control.

"Let me go!" It wasn't intended to be an offer of trade, but maybe Daiya could be happy enough with that. She had bigger problems in the meantime. A sinking feeling invaded her stomach, exploding into a pit that clutched at her insides, throwing the teen into one last act. Pulling Samnai's arm toward her, the one wrapped around her wrist, Daiya rolled her opposite shoulder toward the woman, hoping to shift their weight.

Hoping to roll Samnai underneath her.

If she was going down, Daiya wanted to come out on top.

Peyton was still instructing in the back ground, weaving in through the sparing pairs. She heard her mention something about weapons being a crutch. Hmm. Well, that made Ruby want to saw off her arm and replace it with something like a cannon. That'd work, right? She could shoot people AND probably bash them with it. But that hinged on her losing an arm.

She'd have to think about it.

In her own sparring match, Ruby was still down on the mat and her opponent was... lecturing her. He'd jumped over her leg easily enough, and now he was looking at her rather reproachfully. Ruby rolled her eyes, ignoring the hand he'd offered to help her up with.

She thought she heard Daiya swear at least once. The teen had also shouted 'let me go!' Ruby couldn't help but stifle a giggle-snort. Were they... wrestling? Haha.

Finally, she returned her glare to Johnny. Somewhere in the back of her mind, his advice may have been filed away. He'd seemed like he wanted to genuinely help her. But what would she do in the face of... kindness? Turn her back on it, of course. "Psssh," she crossed her arms stubbornly, still seated on the mat. Ruby was way too lazy for this chit.

Her face reddened.

The color on her usually pale complexion may have been from the minimal physical activity, she was pretty out of shape. But it might also been embarrassment. She didn't like to be talked down to – even if that hadn't been Johnny's intention... that's how she took it.

Ruby got up on her own, then walked back over to where the refreshments were. "You seem to like lecturing, professor." She smirked. "If you can do that while I eat, then I guess I"ll have to listen." Alright, the whole point of this class was to learn to fight... but this was Ruby's silent protest... she wasn't going to get knocked on her arse again.

She smacked away the hand reaching for her hair, making a mental note to tie it back tighter. She would have grabbed it were it not for the fact she was already struggling to keep her opponent in her grip. They were trying to trip each other onto the floor, and looked to be more brawling than sparring to outsiders—though neither party really knew the difference.

They struggled for another minute before Daiya Daiya almost tipped her over on the ground. Samnai shifted her unsteady feet, tightened her grip for a second, before deciding to not take her chances on this one and let go, pushing the girl back with her other hand and releasing the wrist at the same time. She eyed the girl warily, waiting for her to make a move—if she even does—before deciding to fight again.

While Samnai had no problem beating Daiya to a pulp, she was aware that the other people in this room might not feel the same and she wasn’t too keen on a sudden five-versus-one.

He blinked a few times as Ruby dismissed him completely, crossing her arms and not budging from her spot on the mat. What're you, seven? he thought to himself as Ruby seemed to get flush in the cheeks. He used to do the same thing when he didn't want to do something. When he was still a toddler, that is. You know you come off as holier-than-thou sometimes, Johnnyboy. Might have embarrassed her, think of that much? Still, before he could even get a word out, she suddenly got up, her body brushing his hand away as if he weren't even there.

"You seem to like lecturing, professor." She smirked. "If you can do that while I eat, then I guess I"ll have to listen."

"I don't like lecturing, no..." he said, emotionally at odds with how to react. He did genuinely want to help her get better, and if he could put her on her arse that fast in a spar, imagine how much more damage someone else could do to her if they were actually hellbent on knocking her for a loop? Or worse yet, killing her outright? A bit of anger bubbled up inside him, and rightfully so. It seemed like every single time he tries to do anything as of late, he got brushed off, made fun of, or basically told to go feth himself. His brow furrowed as he stood up from his squat, looking to Ruby as she walked away. He almost wanted to pull his rail pistol out and hold it to her head and ask her how she was gonna manage ducking out of this just to prove a point, but even Johnny wasn't that brash or idiotic.

"Have it your way, then. You don't want any help, then you better be able to eat and fight at the same time." he said, and launched himself at her, his bare fist aiming at her rib-cage. Can't talk smack if you get the air knocked out of your lungs, now could you?

It wasn't that hard to get through this lesson. Peyton had done it a few times in the past. Granted, it was for more people who signed up to it. Militants who were here to defend the galaxy and stick it to an Imperial force. Darkwire wasn't so far away from that thought process, and it was going to work. But what Peyton didn't expect were the kids. She was making kids fight.

Fine, they needed to learn somehow, somewhere.

As she and Cuan were pacing the group, Peyton couldn't help but smirk. "He isn't wrong." He mentioned, towards Johnny and Ruby.

"No one, in a fight, is getting scored on what is pretty. The longer a fight goes on, the more tired you will be and the more chance of a mistake. Take them down fast, get away. We're fighting for survival here, not to win the war. Not with what I'm teaching. I've got a few ideas that'll help us in the future though…" She was starting to throw in with the plight.

And Corpos? No different than an Empire.

Ruby angrily put some of the pastries on a plate and took a big bite – so big she could hardly swallow it. And she poured a cup of caf to try and wash it down. But the cup paused before it ever met her lips. Her narrowed eyes were on Johnny as he matched her gaze. Dang, did he look kinda mad?

He was talking to her, and it took a long moment for her to process what he'd said. Eat and fight? Next thing she knew, he was a blur of motion – a fist being propelled straight at her chest. A few garbled sounds escaped Ruby's full mouth. She attempted to swivel her midsection slightly at the last second, missing the full impact of his punch.

But his fist still connected.

And there was enough pain to make her spit out her mouthful of pastry in the process.

And spill her caf all over herself.

The plate of pastries dropped first, and Ruby dropped next to it. "What the frak!" That was rude. Maybe she deserved it. Still, who punches someone when they're eating!? There was food on her face, and her eyeliner was running down her cheeks. Her fist closed around a muffin, and Ruby climbed to her feet – with a grunt. Her ribs hurt quite a lot. Straining through the pain, she hurled the pastry at Johnny. She really didn't even care if it hit him or not. But if it did... all the better.

Now, he damn well knew this was going to end up a little, well, awkward, at first. I mean, who throws a punch at someone when they are eating? Then again, Johnny's logic was; who goes off to grab a snack in the middle of a spar? Sure, he was trying to help her out, but damn, it was still a fight none the less. The galaxy, it seemed, had decided to curse ol' Johnnyboy again this night. He connected, sure, but with the way Ruby twisted around, he ended up hitting her partially in the abs. Which meant soon enough, her preferred snack of choice from the table became a projectile which hit Johnny.

Directly. In. The Face.

His left eye, to be exact. He wasn't sure what was in that fething pastry, but he sure as hell didn't need baked goods to the eyeball. Even if it was his ocular implant, which, thankfully, could handle it. He raised his hand up, and wiped some off the jam filling off his cheek, and stared at it a moment with a look of utter disbelief and amazement. "You've got to be screwing with me... raspberry jam?!" he said with just a slight tinge of absolutely karking annoyed in his voice. And as he looked up, a muffin came hurtling at him at breakneck speed. He was so preoccupied with the damn jam, he didn't even realize it until it was too late. And so, a runaway muffin, compressed by Ruby's grip, had come hurtling at his throat, and connected with a good bit of power behind it.

Johnny held his throat, cursing in Huttese as he choked during every other word, stumbling backward & falling on his own arse this time. Yes, Johnny Diamonds had indeed just gone down... to breakfast food. Not gonna live that down any time soon, are you, you utter gonk...

Riling up Darkwire into a militia was nowhere near her agenda, but hey, someone had to keep an eye on the kids. Raven shook her head to herself in mixed amusement and disapproval, watching the fists fly and food thrown [X]. Her laidback posture on the sidelines had waved off the others for the sparring round, indicating she couldn't be bothered, at least, not in an amateur setting. Though she wouldn't admit to weakness, feigning disinterest in such brute tactics, she quite admired those who could swing a punch and hold their own in a brawl. If only her biology weren't so fragile, and yes, she spoke from experience, internally wincing at every impact between Daiya Daiya and Samnai Rouber Samnai Rouber , and the 'gem couple' Ruby Jaxx Ruby Jaxx and Johnny Diamonds Johnny Diamonds . Lucky they could take a hit. Her own bones weren't nearly so durable nor quick to mend, compared to ordinary Humans. Know your limits. Stick to what you're good at. Hand-to-hand combat was not her forte, and she did not intend to prove it. Wisdom, not cowardice, in her opinion.

The guns though. Those interested her, eyeing the crates on her way in. Hopefully target practice was on the menu. Her eyes were born for sharpshooting. With that anticipation alone, she'd hang around and observe. Her gloved hand flipped through one of the flimsi binders, sifting for a syllabus or other useful tidbits, whatever this Peyton Steele Peyton Steele had to offer.

"Feth..."

The young shadowrunner barely had breath to give voice to words, coming out as a grunt of exertion instead. Her balance gave way as the weight pinning her in place suddenly lifted, and she teetered for a moment before standing up straight. Eyes narrowing at her opponent, Daiya glared across the newfound distance, her hands and desires denied satisfaction.

She couldn't lay a single claw on Samnai!

Daiya panted, her whole body heaving from the tense struggle. It was freed of the woman's clutches, wasn't that what she'd wanted? The older shadowrunner stared at her, as if finally sizing her up. It sent blood pumping to her cheeks again, a frustrating growl growing in the teen's throat. It was starting to feel like Samnai was just mocking her, playing with her. "Is this a fething game to you?" Daiya was nobody's toy! "C'mon, do your worst!"

She was certainly planning to. The young shadowrunner caught sight of the boxes, her eyes following one of the unmatched shadowrunners. She scoffed at the figure's masked attire, her short temper flaring again at their obscurred identity among Darkwire teammates. As uncouth as that seemed, Daiya couldn't ignore the where their attention lay, a visual reminder of Peyton's careful preparations. Tracking Samnai's wary glare with her own eye, the young shadowrunner picked up one of the weapons provided for the day.

The stun baton crackled to life in her hands, illuminating a restored grin on the teen's face. She tested it once, letting the weight of the baton's head fall into her palm, before holding it in front of her. Daiya approached from Samnai's right, she wasn't about to fall into the same trap twice.

She leapt at the last second, swapping sides to come at the woman from her left, jabbing her baton into the air where Samnai wasn't yet. Where Daiya expected Samnai to be a second after spotted the teen's feint.

The crafty woman was going to keep anticipating her moves until Daiya did something unexpected.

Or expected the unanticipated.

Samnai couldn’t help but smirk. She crossed her arms and looked down her nose at Daiya Daiya . “Yeah. With you, it’s as easy as a child’s game.” Feeling quite confident, she relaxed her posture further and nodded at the new arrival.

The girl’s next move made the smirk fall for a split second of confusion as Daiya reached for a baton, before hurriedly dodging the crackling weapon.

Oh shi—

Samnai choked on her pain. The stun baton had hit directly on her waist, and the only thing she could mutter was a “Kark,” as it paralysed her.

She stumbled back and her foot hit the set of knives she had laid out at the beginning. She glared at Daiya, reaching for the sharpest one.

It’s on, you brat.

So it seemed that things were starting to calm down. Peyton never really put a time table for the sparring to go, but every so often, she'd step into one pair or another, to have them do another quick few second run at each other. Others were breaking for some food. Some were even… fighting at the table?

Now that was a tactic, getting someone while they were down, or busy. It wasn't the most overhanded tactic, but in certain circumstances? An element of surprise was important. The challenge was avoiding collateral damage, getting in, and getting out with just the target, and sometimes the target adjacent objectives. Tossing a look to Ruby and Johnny, Peyton merely shook her head. They seemed to be more adult than the others.

Others were coming and going, it was a fairly simple plan today. Peyton had a room, then a building roof to get some rounds fired off for later. Cuan and Peyton were watching those coming in, and making sure the ones who were a bit shook up were taking what they could, bacta patches and the like, even some foodstuffs for those who really were suffering.

All that was fine and good until the hissing of a stun baton caught her attention. Cuan looked up but Peyton was already on the move. Her own baton in her hands as she walked briskly so as to not make an alarm, but she was starting to feel that headache the Force always gave her. Hand found one of her own stun batons. For any who could sense the Force, there'd be a sense of not anything too strong but a cause for most people to get a headache. Something Peyton always felt whenever she touched the Force.

It was a good skill to have to keep people at bay, or at least off their game when she was around and fighting. But she wanted to see how these two would go at it. She gave a quick whistle, not one to stop the brawl, but one to get the attention and tossed a stun baton out to Samnai. Daiya already showed she was creative enough to bend the odds into her favor. Now Peyton wanted to see how they could fight with someone holding them back, but evened odds.

Her second baton came to live in her hand.

So, things were spiraling – at least for Ruby and Johnny. Their sparring match had devolved into a school-lunch-room-style brawl. The only thing missing seemed to be the call to battle: food fight!

Ruby watched, with a huge amount of satisfaction, as the muffin hit Johnny right in the throat. She cackled. He deserved it. As he fell back to his arse, she wasn't going to waste the opportunity to kick him while he was down.

Running over, Ruby didn't hesitate to aim her boot for his ribs and kick a couple of times. Despite the crazy look in her eyes, there was a lightness inside her that she hadn't felt in a long time. Was this what it was like to have fun? Okay, so she was just kicking a guy... but there was something about this that seemed like a good time.

It was then that she notice what a mess his face was. There was still bits of jam, donut, and spit on his face. Gross. Maybe that was humiliation enough. The moment's hesitation left an opening for Johnny to recover. Ruby jumped back, just in case he tried another gut punch. She didn't have any ammo this time (aka food).
