Private The Slaughter of Stragglers

Though the Ashlan claim to Korriban had been broken months ago, there were still those foolish enough to remain on the planet.

The tombs and capital city had been scoured clean of Jedi filth long ago. Maerae herself had been part of the invasion force that had reclaimed the ancient home of the Sith. She had slain a crusader on her own, armed only with a vibrosword, and had absconded with his lightsaber after she left him in a pool of his own blood. She knew that their work had been quick, efficient, and brutal.

It seemed, though, that some of the Ashlan Crusaders simply could not accept their defeat. A few stragglers had escaped into the desolate wilderness of the harsh planet. A horrid fate, that would have ended in death for most others. But as Jedi—any Force-sensitives really—they were particularly more difficult to kill than the average sentient. Those false Jedi would find ways to survive, even for years if they had to.

And when the time came, they would strike at the Sith, with the intent to drive them from their world once more.

That could not be tolerated. Even her master, who did not appreciate Darth Carnifex's claim to the world, would rather die than see that become reality once more. It was why Maerae was here, in a rapidly descending shuttle under the command of a Sith she was unfamiliar with: to verify reports of an Ashlan Crusader sighting, and if they were true, to eliminate them with extreme prejudice.

It was, of course, an honor to fight their ancient enemy; to do the true work of a Sith. And though the Sith Lord she was serving under today was... drastically different from her own master, so long as his orders served the Sith Order as a whole, she did not care about his eccentricities.

Wallgof stepped on the surface of Korriban, it had been years since he was last here. Not long after the murder of his family, Wallgof had found himself searching for answers of his destiny in the ruins of the ancient Sith. Exploring tombs, attempting to commune with the Sith Lords of old and reading the ancient Sith texts that he could find. It took years of his life exploring before he found his answers. Before Naga Sadow selected him. Now the Sith Lord was returning to the home world of his ancestors. The Sith home world. Wearing the beskar Sith armour that made from his Mandalorian family armour. There would be Mandalorians furious that he would disgrace their ways in such a manner but he took from those lesser than himself and built with their tools to enhance himself. It was his methods of ensuring there would be lasting damage to the Mandalorians.

Wandering the surface of Korriban, it reeked of the Jedi, their attempts to destroy the world, to take the knowledge of the Sith. Their legacy removed from the galaxy. It was a bold move but one that failed. Wallgof only regretted not being there to ensure of its failure.

Still, years later, their stench still remained. Their presence plaguing the Sith Empire. Wallgof could tell it was a small band of nobodies, minor Jedi and weaklings. But enough trouble to the Sith rule that their removal would be needed. The Sith Lord was confident this minor issue would be handled with great ease and he could have great fun in testing his skills, working on building his strengths without relying on the power of Naga Sadow. The crazed Sith Lord knew that he needed to develop his skills and keep his monster caged otherwise he would be not seen or recognised as a great threat by either the Sith or the Jedi.

Was the Sith Lord strode forward, his tattered cloak billowing in the wind, he sensed the presence of another. Another Sith was nearby and clearly determined to sort the issues of the rogue Jedi. A determination that Wallgof could admire in a person. Striding towards the presence, Wallgof could not help but admire the look of Korriban. While some saw it was a harsh, dead, desolate land, Wallgof saw beauty, knowledge and life persisting against the Light. It was what he admired most of worlds connected to the ancient Sith. Life persisting against the Light, demonstrating that the Light was not needed and life would survive without it. Much in contradiction to how the Jedi saw things.

The lies they told about the Force. It was arrogance built from ignorance. Wallgof hated that more than anything.

"Hello child. It seems our paths are on a similar track." Wallgof called out to the other Sith, he could tell she was still fresh in her training but that did not mean she was weak. Just that she had far to go and potential not yet untapped.

As her shuttle descended to the arid terrain of Korriban, Maerae found herself marching down the ramp. Almost immediately, the heat hit her. It was a stifling thing, especially for a woman wrapped up in black clothing who was unused to such heat. She bit back any complaint she might have had—she was nothing if not professional—and stepped off the ramp onto the sandy ground below.

She spotted the Sith Lord, and imposing figure, and approached him, stopping at a respectful distance.

"My Lord," Maerae greeted the Sith Lord with a bow, "I am at your command."

Being at another's command was something Maerae was all too familiar with. It was the way of the Sith: the strongest ruled and led. One day, it would be her turn to lead such a mission. But today, she was just a Sith Apprentice. If her Master bid that she was at another's beck and call, then so be it. Darth Strosius had given her much, even in her short time under him.

If he wanted her to work under this Darth Wallgof for a mission, it was because there was something to learn from the experience.

"We have telemetry data and reports from our scouts that suggest the presence of an Ashlan Crusader in the region," Maerae pulled a datapad from her robe, offering it to the Sith Lord, "if it pleases you, I would accompany you while you root out this rogue Jedi."

She had no idea of this Sith's plans. She had no real idea of who he was, or how he operated. All she knew was that Strosius had placed her here for a reason, and if she was not at the Sith Lord's side, she feared she would miss that reason.

The Sith apprentice had him the datapad and his eyes scanned over the information provided. "The Jedi will not be here. Jedi are not fools, they wish for us to see where they are to not know where they are hiding." Wallgof spoke, his voice modulated behind the mask as he spoke, "to hunt Jedi you must understand that they are sneaking, deceptive people. They act heroic and claim to be inspirations and paragons of good, but look closer and they are worse than the most conniving Sith."

He handed the datapad back to Marae, "use the Force as your guide with Jedi. They do not hide their presence on our home world well. Rooting out their small light in the eternal darkness is never tricky." Wallgof stated, his body relaxed as he listened to the vibrations of the Force and followed the calling of the Light. The Jedi was not too far from them. "What are you skills with a blade?" Wallgof asked firmly, he was needing to know how the apprentice would be limiting him, holding him back. "Tell me your skills with the Force, limited how much?"

He was not seeking to know where she was strong but to know where she was weak. Knowing that, he could protect himself. Knowing where one was weak allowed a person to cover that weakness and strengthen it.
