The sith ascension - Raid of Katarr

Orbit - One hour until the ships would reach katarr

Abyss watched the stars pass by trough the small window of a drop ship that rested in the hangar of one of the bigger ships of the fleet. The ship was filled with the most loyal and fanatic follows of the one sith, soldiers, pilots and commanders with burning hate and rage for those who opposed them. Abyss himself was the one who declared the sith ascension, a movement with the intention of crushing the mandalorian crusaders like the filthy insects they were. Looking left and right, Abyss focused on the small troop that was on the drop ship with him. Some soldiers equipped with every grenade and explosive they could carry, others with heavy weapons. He had made it clear to them and anyone else who followed them that this was not just an supply raid or a opportunity to bring terror to the enemy. This mission was a symbol, they would burn down the planet, and kill anyone who would come to stop them, leaving nothing behind but ash.

Orbit - Minutes before entering the orbit over katarr.

Katarr felt as dead as Abyss had imagined. Not many had decided to live on a world were in ancient times one of the worst genocides in galactic history happend. It didn't matter, the real reason they choose katarr was to draw the crusaders on a world were their defeat would be a message to the United clans.

"Pilot, start the transmission"

Abyss said to the man in the cockpit of the drop ship who moments later typed in a few informations before starting to send a signal to anyone who was close enough:

"Crusaders. The end of your campaign begins today. The sith ascension has begun, and we while burn your homes planet for planet until there will be nothing left for you to rule. Like in ancient time katarr will be a symbol for the power of the sith."

Still sending the young acolyte straps a durasteel plate on his chest, the symbol of the one sith printed on it.

"For passion, for power, for victory. The sith ascension has begun."

Orbit over katarr.

Abyss could feel the drop ship falling down towards the planet, followd by two more. He left the command over the fleet to those more skilled in commanding ships, instead focusing on leading his man to victory. After breaking trough the atmosphere the drop ships take formation, moving towards a landing zone around half an hour away from the planet capital to avoid being hit by anti air weapons stationed on the planetes surface.
As the doors of the ship open, Abyss drops to the ground, his ignited lightsaber in his right hand, a red flag bearing the symbol of the one sith in his left.

That blasted backwater planet hadn't been enough? Those imbeciles had said, find a planet that is interesting, so Axel had! But nooo, now he was once more on another planet, looking for the lesser known to become better known. Draped in his brother's jacket, cane in one hand, top hat in the other, Axel swung arms about in a slow step. This place was equally as boring as he had imagined...

"Hey man, you might wanna get off the street!" Axel heard a man shout nearby, and when he turned the man gestured toward the Holodisplay that showed a transmission from some nasty or other. Axel relied with a nonchalant wave of the hand.

Like his mother he was hot blooded, like his father he was cunning, like both he was able to hold his own. No invasive manuevers would catch him off guard anyway. Unlike most whom specialized in a range of abilities, he only held real talent in one, one he didn't even understand himself. This skill, his Battlesight, let him know of danger before it came, where upon his enhanced droid speed allowed him quick reaction times. The last time he had been hurt had been a surprise to him.

Besides, the Sith raining down on a planet? He would have heard about it through his connections had it been a plan from the higher ups. No, this was a lesser that wanted to make a name for himself. That was his mistake. Axel honestly prayed that he got a chance to show the Daemon-Verd way, the way of Clan Daemon, and the way of Blood.

Katarr had been Nihilus's target, the planet he had eaten many years ago. Residue of that evil, that life eating, Force draining, Wound remained, even after all this time. What else would one expect when a walking Wound in the Force literally ate most of the life on a planet using one of the more corruptive Force abilities.

As such, there wasn't much on Katarr, a "City" if it could be called that existed, but there were no sprawling spires and vast city-scapes. Even after all this time, the place gave many people the chills after dark, and there were always nasty rumors. Most farmers lived in a communal area together and never traveled alone, out of habit or out of superstition.

"Alor," A warrior said, flipping on the communication. "This has just been sent to us from a formation of dropships entering the planet's atmosphere."

"Excellent, he gave us ample warning. Put the defenses on alert and don't let the defense group just let more ships saunter through." The defense Force was fairly small, only a set of frigates to respond and fire on enemy ships. The Mandalorians had bigger fleets, yes, but those only responded when the hyperspace warning devices warned of an enemy fleet approaching.

"See if someone can get me a soda while an appropriate response moves to fight him in the mountains before he gets to the city." Draco stood up and moved around the little office. It was bold, he had to give the Sith Ascension that much.

A group of warriors, roughly equal in number to the Sith troops began moving through the rocks and crags of the mountainside, slowly moving carefully, taking note to hide from plain sight and wait for the opportune moment to strike. Draco remained at the city with some reserves, just in case something happened. The benefit of using a bunch of jump infantry all capable of flight. It might be fifteen minutes for the Sith Forces to trudge up the mountain, it was only a handful of seconds to recall his boys.

It took several several hours for the transmission to reach her after it was constantly being redirected through the various One Sith satellites before it finally appeared on the cracked screen in front of her, the audio message barely making sense through the more defunct than actual working speakers; but the Necro-Witch heard enough. As did her two daughters Andarta and Agrona, collectively known as the Dread Sisters.
Stepping closer to the Sith Lady, it was Andarta who asked, "Shall I notify War Fleet Wraith and The Corpse Eaters we are heading to Katarr, Dark Mother?"
Slowly she closed her eyes, recalling the day when the news of the One Sith laying waste to the Anaxes Military Installation, their first strike against her in their vain attempt to eradicate her accomplishments she done under their banner, reached her ears. All they had accomplished that day was killing their own soldiers, whilst bringing down a structure that was created with their own credits. She had forgave them for their shortcomings.
A few days later, a new report was presented to her. Her beloved science lab, The Thorn Of The Black Rose, had met a similar fate as the military installation; and though all her research, projects, subjects, and samples had been ushered out days earlier under the noses of the One Sith, it was not the death of the scientists that elected to stay back that had angered her. It was the horrific audacity that they had struck a blow against science, which was more than just a passion to her, but a cold lover in which she could embrace for all eternity. And that could never be forgotten.
Opening her eyes, and allowing the tremors of anger to course through her body, she looked around the ruined lab in which she and her daughters now stood. This lab was more than just a lab to her, this was, afterall, the birthplace of her daughters. And in her unstable mind, what the One Sith done to this lab was on equal ground as if they had killed one of her daughter's parents; and for that alone, she would never forgive them. The One Sith owed her more than just an apology, they needed to atone for their sins if they required her help again. So they would begin to atone now.
"No," she said biting down hard, drawing blood form her lower lip when her filed-to-a-pointe teeth made contact with them. "If they want our help....then let them beg."

Abyss could feel the darkness that once drained all life in katarr. The masked sith couldn't resist to feel slightly euphoric. Darth Nihilus, a powerful sith lord who also wore a mask was responsible for one of the largest genocides ever committed in the galactic history. The place of this genocide was Katarr, and with every step he took on the surface of the planet he felt more like he was following in the footsteps of the ancient sith. The city, if someone could call it like that wasn't to far away, he and his man only had to traverse the small mountains that stood between them and the city. Normally he would have used stealth and deception, but this wasn't some simple battle. This was the begin of the sith ascension and he wanted all eyes in the galaxy to watch as he and his man would rain down fire on the mandalorians. The red flag in his hand fluttered in the air as he slowly moved to the mountains, his men following him a step behind. They slowly made their way up the mountain, the heavy weapons forcing the soldiers to stop every few meters to help another out to drag it on the peak. From the peak the dark acolyte could see the city, a fifteen minute marsh away from them. He signaled his man to stop, observing the area in front of him. Something was not right, his message should have helped the enemy to prepare his attack, yet no mandalorian forces were moving towards them. He looked around, but he couldn't make out anything around him. His eyes could not be trusted and the darkness that remained on katarr hindered him from feeling for presences around him in the force. He turned around to his man, while ramming the flag in the ground.

"Weapons ready. Brothers and sisters, the time has come. Burn. It. Down. For passion, for power, for victory."

With raised weapons his man repeated his last words that became the unofficial war cry of the sith ascension. The soldiers with heavy weapons made a few last checks on the rocket and grenade lauchers, the rest unlocked the safetys on their blaster rifles. With another sign from Abyss the man started to move down the hill towards the city.

"The sith ascension has begun."

In the blackened mountains that surrounded the Capital City of Kataar the Mandalorians had set up their defensive line. It had been a mad rush to form a defensive line to either rebuff the Sith assault or delay it for the city's defenders to better prepare. With his heavy rifle slung over his shoulder Dariak was wandering along the entrenchments that his men were digging repeater nests and setting up mortars. While the main squads had pushed forward to the edge of the mountains' face that was pointed towards the Sith's advance through the peaks.

Mandalorians had also doubled back to place mines and traps to further hinder the Sith movements should his warriors fail to halt their advance.

A spotter team had climbed up to a nearby crest and was watching the enemy approach. Dariak brought his rifle up to his shoulder after unslinging it to watch the enemy troops. It was eerie to see the enemy on one of their worlds. A Mandalorian-held planet. "Mortars. Range; five hundred meters. Three rounds a-piece. Set for ground det. They're in the crags of the mountains." he barked down his comm. His men were in hasty raised positions but they were concealed. Rested. The Sith had to move towards them to gain any ground and if Dariak kept up a stubborn enough defence then he could beat them back to their dropship.

The mortars let out their 'fompf' sound as the shells were slid down the tubes to be fired back out again in the high arcs. The bombs crested and then began to fall back towards the ground with a screeching sound towards the One Sith ranks.

Abyss neither heard or saw the artillery projectiles fired towards him and his mean, yet he knew that they were coming ... or at least he knew something was coming.

"Move. Move. Move. Leave everything that slows you down."

If Abyss orders would have been give only a few seconds later he and his man would be burning ash by now. The soldiers dropped their weapons in the dirt and started running. Any sane commander would fall back by now, but Abyss was all but sane. The fire of hate that burned inside him like a thousand dieing starts left him now other option than storming towards the enemy. If his man were able to outrun the long distance attack and engage the enemy in open combat they still had a chance. They had to leave behind their heavy gear but most of the still carried multiple grenades and other explosives that would give them the upper hand. Aybss could hear one of his man cry in pain as his leg was ripped of by a shrapnel, but he didn't even turned around. Even if they all had to die he would watch katarr burn.

"Mortars! Airburst! Increase elevation by five degree increments per shot!" barked Dariak into his comm. The mortars soon started to toss airburst rounds so they detonated above the heads of the One Sith Troops. Better yet but each after each shot the gunners would pull back their tubes a little more so the shells would land where the Sith troops were running to rather than suffering from the delay of the shells hitting the ground.

Targets in the open was a wonderful chance for Dariak's men to get some target practice in. Longblasters and repeaters tossed their long range fire; both accurate and rapid mixed in together as marksmen and gunners alike took their chances to gun down the Sith units. Dariak lined up his longblaster's scope on each of the front runners and squeezed off a bolt from his front firing position.

While flying away from Azure, Cathul intercepted some transmissions from the Mandalorian Clans en route to Mandalore. They all seem to pertain to battle orders; she couldn't leave their mando'ade without some support! But she is still in high orbit, hoping to land without the One Sith suspecting anything while the defending Mandalorian force is busy engaging the One Sith in orbit. Of course, after dropping out of hyperspace a shave shy of the surface, because of the nature of what would bring Cathul down to the surface, she would go and put on her armor, with a holstered lightsaber. And perhaps actually fight with her beskar'gam on, which she did not do on Azure. She is about to hail [member="Abyss"] over comm, leaving some threatening message destined to Abyss, also perhaps reminding him of his role under Darth Centax's command, apparently using a Force-taunt through it. But Abyss certainly wouldn't mistake Cathul for Ugohr because she didn't have a Gunganese accent.

"Even though your share of the atrocities committed on Coruscant is dwarfed by those committed by [member="Darth Centax"], you... monster! He sent you and your troops down on Kataar so that he can commit more atrocities! Darth Centax will pay for what he did on Coruscant! He was the one who triggered Directive 12 and killed hundreds of millions of innocents!"

What Abyss doesn't know is that the one person he had to face down on Coruscant while Darth Centax's atrocities took place, one Gungan general named [member="Ugohr Poof"], is more than just a Jedi Padawan by now. He has recently been promoted to Knight status and is currently stationed on Chandrila. But from what Cathul knew about Ugohr as a Jedi brute, asking for the Army of Malastare (or formally the 1st Legion) to reinforce the Clans' armies would probably take far too long to turn the tide of the battle unless the Clans manage to bring the One Sith's ground forces to a stalemate. What the Clans do not know is that General Poof is about to place a bounty on that very Darth Centax she is blathering on about. With that said, she is also to ask about whether they found anything pertaining to Darth Centax, hailing a frequency commonly used by the Mandalorians over this planet.

"To all Mandalorians in range, did you find any information about Darth Centax? I have a score to settle with Darth Centax and not just because of the atrocities he committed on Coruscant! His trail led me here"

The memories that the words spoken trough the force by [member="Cathul Thuku"] were summoning inside of Abyss mind were nothing but fuel his anger and rage. The greatest defeat of the one sith he had seen with his own eyes, the only reason why he was here today. Yet the memories did hold more value than just anger, they made him remember the lesson he to learn while on the battlefield. Raw power could win fights but not a war. To survive he had to be smart and cunning, tricking his enemies instead of overpowering them. He had not to much time to think about it as the first projectiles started to burst over his forces. From behind him could hear pained cries onca again. He didn't look back to check but based on the sound at least 5 more of his man had be hit. No there was not chance he could win like this, he had to find a plan. To long his actions were controlled by madness, to long his mind was clouded by the rage that the dark side was creating.

"Depart. Everyone fights for himself until we reach them. Do not give them a target."

His man started to spread out, walking in all directions to make it harder for the artillery to hit them. Abyss himself was continuing his path straight towards them. They wanted a target and he would give them one. At least for now. The next projectile splits above his head, shrapnel pieces raining down on him. By pure chance the acolyte was able to avoid getting hit, and channel his focus. Again shrapnel pieces were propelled towards him, this time piercing and cutting his body but not leaving any extrem injuries. The hit gave him the time he needed. For a second he raised his arm, the next he was nothing but a transparent shilout, hardly to recognize with the naked eye.

When the enemy began to spread out Dariak passed the order down the line for the Mandalorians to cease fire and reload. He watched as their line extended in the open plain to avoid the bulk of the mortar fire. He slapped in a new power cell before he called along his comm link. "Vode, it's time to pull back. We'll catch them in the mountain passes. Bury det-packs at your firing points and link them to my detonator. Move!"

The Mandalorians buried packs of explosives at their various posts along the entrance of the winding mountain paths before rushing back to the second line of defences. There sat repeater nests and trip mines along the narrow, winding pathways in which only two men could stand shoulder to shoulder. Mountain warfare was something Dariak understood well. To use the terrain to your advantage. The Sith would be forced to pull together to travel the mountains without wide open spaces to disperse themselves in.

  • Mandalorian Forces under Dariak have ceased fire and retreated to the second line of defences
  • Mandalorian Forces under Dariak have laid det-packs and traps at the entrances of the mountains that the One Sith under [member="Abyss"] must traverse
  • The pathways in the mountains have been wired with IFF proximity mines between the first and second lines of defences.

The fire stopped, his plan worked. Abyss was slighty surprised, in the back of his mind he had already accepted his fate if he should fail to lead his troops to victory. Releasing the power he used to bend the light around himself, the acoyle was once again visibly running over the battlefield. His man had scattered but after the fire stopped they slowly regrouped close to the mountain they had to traverse. Abyss started to count, reaching 54 soldiers that were still standing. Could be better, could be worse. Intelligence was worth more than manpower in the end. The troops came to a stop after Abyss signaled them with his hands to do so.

"Stay alert, they know these mountains better than we do, and they had time prepare. You ..."

He points at one of the soldiers closest to him.

"Give me one of your grenades."

The young man steps forward to the sith acolyte, holding the explosive in his open hand for Abyss to take. He takes the small object, trying to predict how much power he would need to throw it as far as he planned. With a medium swing Abyss throws the grenade to the opening in front of the mountain, after pulling out the safety pin.

The grenade detonates, setting of a det pack placed close to it. Just as he thought, the whole way was filled with traps, walking on it would be suicide.

"Change of plans. We climb."

Instead of going up the path in front of him, Abyss moves towards the climbable walls besides them, his man following. The whole action would cost him both time and man but it was still the best option they had.

She might have dropped from hyperspace a little too close to the planet, but Cathul landed her Neimoidian Yacht at the top of the wall that the One Sith forces were scaling in an attempt to get to the city they intend to attack. Looks like one of the One Sith lackeys under [member="Darth Centax"] fell for Cathul's display of anger in the Force. Provoking and then luring the enemy into a trap or a detour was part of the game for her. Her main objective was getting more intel about Darth Centax or his atrocities on Coruscant, yet the likelihood of taking just one of them as a prisoner would be rather slim. In her attempt at defending what lies at the top of the mountain wall that the enemy climbs, she used a spell that which involves the conversion of the target's sugar reserves into alcohol. Without knowing how much sugar she would be able to fermentate using the Force from each soldier climbing the mountain wall, or even which soldier would be hit, it's a shot in the dark to her.

"I am a little late, Dariak, but you can always use a space witch that can actually cast spells. You can access the Force but cannot use it for space magic; the enemy is led by a space wizard" Cathul said upon casting the first spell at the enemy.

[member="Dariak Talesa"] [member="Abyss"]

Abyss felt a touch in the force, something working inside his body. It felt oddly similar to the few times he was healed trough the force, a strange power pushing his body to use its internal organs in ways he couldn't understand. The presence came from the top of the mountain, someone who walked on the path of twilight as it seemed. Instead of slowing down, the anticipation of fighting another force sensitive forced him to climb faster, bringing space between him and his man. With a last pull, the acolyte pushes himself on the peak of the mountain, now observing the woman in front of him.

"I see you have a desire to die witch. Allow me to grant it to you."

The lightsaber on his belt was dragged into his hand and in a fluid motion he ignites the crimson red blade, while taking his opening stance of from two, the weapons held in his right hand, the blade of pure energy hovering slightly over the ground.

"You didn't think that a witch would wear beskar-plated armor? This beskar suit of armor at least gives me a fighting chance. I'm not like this Gungan artillerist you fought on Coruscant: he doesn't know anything about exactly how beskar gives me a chance to engage Sith Lords. He's almost all about offense"

Cathul knew that, since Abyss took the hit with her Force-alcohol spell, it may have rendered Abyss drunk, but he survived. Perhaps Abyss dipped into his glycogen reserves while climbing the wall and now his body was using fat. Anyhow, she never used that spell on another space wizard. But after that Force-taunt she ignites her own white-bladed lightsaber, in an attempt to block the lightsaber of his opponent. She used only one lightsaber, unlike Ugohr, that she knew Ugohr dual-wielded despite his primary combat specialty being artillery, and possibly one of the few Jedi alive, if not the only one, to primarily be an artillerist. Cathul could feel her own rage to but she decides to channel it into something other than a Force-taunt. She knew that an endless game of Force-taunts will harrow the morale of both sides while not accomplishing much otherwise. So she had to make sure she wouldn't get hit but she had few opportunities to hit. Makashi was more about not getting hit than landing hits.

"Now, it's really just that: a fighting chance. I'm not ready to dual-wield the way he does"

Axel swung his arms around once more grandly turning in place, an elegance about him that spoke of being more than human. Since he climbed the mountains, plenty of Vod passed by. He acknowledged none. But then, from below his perch on the inches wide jutting ledge, he heard detonations below. The red iris on black sclera focused below, seeing through snowy mist, into the electromagnetic spectrum; below walked a decent sized militia led by a seemingly godlike being.

The problem with being Godlike though? Most weren't, just pretended they were. He had dealt with people that could be considered such on a real scale, and others that genuinely were Godlike, and viewed such by the masses.

Turning his head to the man he had walked with, he raised his hat, bowing while simultaneously swooping the topper across his chest as he did, "Thank you, my man, it has been a pleasure. I feel like a bit more fun could be had below!" At that he stepped a single motion back, dropping like a stone as he did. Were the hat not held firm, his cane too, the duo would have been lost in the motions of decent. But he did hold them, as a matter of fact, one he now utilized, by means of slamming his cane into the mountain where upon it dug into a crevice.

Jerked to a halt, he looked around, spotting a ledge where upon a twilek and a man readied to face each other. Another single second found him landing nearby as well. Dusting snow from his leathers, he placed his hat back upon his crown, and with a courteous nod, he smiled, "Might I face the braggart first?" Axel called, knowing the woman was wearing armor and equally ready, but that he wore a jacket that weighed next to nothing, and moved with cybernetics that moved him quickly with zero extra issue.

Plus the items he wielded were not that alone. Each was special by its own means.

Abyss just stood there, his eyes locked on his enemy, wordlessly waiting and observing. She was a friend of the jedi he fought on coruscant so he was slightly surprised that she expected him to give her a fair and honorable fight. His lightsaber still rested above the ground, ready to block any attack that she could throw at him. Back on coruscant it was him who had to fight both a soldiers and another force user, this time he would do her the same favor.

"Time is an interesting thing. It can change to outcome of battle. It can make the difference between life and death. And sadly ... at least for your life, I do not have much of it today."

He could hear the first of his man coming close to the peak of the mountain, the others following. It would be under a minute before the first woulf rise besides him, forcing her to either run or die. Other than the gungan he had no problem sacrificing his man to win a fight.

[member="Cathul Thuku"] [member="Dariak Talesa"]

Axel turned an eye over his shoulder, his head remaining still, as his Battlesight combined with his scanners to reveal a man that arrived behind him. He slunk about thinking he was unnoticed by anyone, until a powerful yet swift spin met Axel's now elongated staff against the temple of the Sith. When he dropped, the Iron Knight continued the momentum to land the way he had previously faced, the cane once more shrinking back to size.

"Ya know, your men are kind of slow." Axel called, placing the tip of his cane against the ground, resting on the Songsteel shaft slightly. He was not taunting the man, rather just noting a lousy trait. Like his father he was respectful of battle, never more rude then necessary. Currently he was not the opponent this man saw, so he was not the one able to be crude if needed.

"Anyway, regardless of whom you face, your men won't get far."

[member="Abyss"] [member="Cathul Thuku"]

Abyss looked the armor wearing mandalorian witch and what ever he was with disgust, yet his expression was hidden behind his mask. Two force sensitive at once would be madness, even for him. Once again he would rather think than fight his way out. If he could get enough of his man up on the mountain they would have to retreat, because even the most skillful fighters could not keep defending against over 50 blaster rifles for long. Behind him one of his man finally reached the peak of the mountain, rather confused to see his lead in front of the two strange figures that tried to stop them on their way.

"As much as I would enjoy to cut both of you into pieces ..."

With the force he pulls a grenade from the belt of his soldier, letting it Hoover into his left hand. He moves the small explosive to his mouth to pull the pin, before casually throwing it towards his opponents.

"I have more important thing to do right now."

With a step back, the acolyte drops himself over the ledge, only to grab the edge of mountain he just climbed. The drop would keep him out of the range of the grenade, while it was clearing the path for his man. He had no doubts that the two would survive the attack, but it would buy him and his man time to move on the mountain with more soldiers to push them back. The soldier he got the grenade from would very probably be not so lucky, but it was a price Abyss was ready to pay.

[member="Axel"] [member="Cathul Thuku"]

Rocked by the blast of the grenade Abyss' men just threw in her direction, Cathul was projected a few meters back. Thank the Force she actually had the armor on, or else she would have been blown to bits by now. Yet she knew that she couldn't rest; she would have been made to suffer the advances of the stormtroopers. From what she was told about stormtroopers, she would think they have poor aim by now. And she could only cast one spell (just not on Abyss; he had no glycogen reserves left and she knows that the spell needs sugar present in the target to work) on any one stormtrooper before she is confronted to the reality of the situation, where the stormtroopers would finally climb over the ledge. And this is where her lightsaber came in handy. Axel and Cathul would cover each other's retreat towards the town. Cathul did her best to bat away the blaster bolts back at the stormtroopers... but amid the smoke she couldn't tell how many were actually hit by the bolts she did bat back.

"Where is [member="Dariak Talesa"] and his men when we need him?"

Cathul began retreating towards the town, as fast as her armor-laden self would allow her to. But she did make a fighting retreat, batting away the enemy bolts fired the best of her ability.
