The Silver Lining

Rachel was wandering the SJO homeworld of Kashyyyk. She was looking for someone to get to know and maybe even help her with a problem she had been having for a while. How to construct a lightsabre. She had some idea how to but she couldn't dude to the fact she was having trouble learning even the most basic of force powers.

She eventually ran into a pink haired woman she knew as [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]. "Hi there, Asaraa is that right? You might not remember me. My name is Rachel Taff. You are also a padawan aren't you? Would you be able to help me maybe figure out how to make a lightsabre. I have a bunch of crystals and the parts for it, but I have no idea how to put it together properly."

She hoped Asaraa would be able to help her. She hadn't found anyone else who was able to. She was sure she was stuffing this up somehow.

The nicest thing about Kashyyk and Silvers Rest was the weather, the temple had always had a surfeit of good weather, the warm sunlight dappling across the grass and benches, over the young padawan who sat, reclining backwards, her eyes closed as she enjoyed the sunlight playing across her face.

There was a stillness to the morning, a certain reflective solitude...and she was desperate for something to do, some break from the meditative routine she found herself in. The girl's blue eyes flicked open as she heard a voice, the question held in it, her arms coming forward as she pulled herself upright.

"A lightsaber?" A smile pulled up the corner of her lips as she sat forward, "Sure, I can help with that. We have a few guides in the library but it's really more a sense of touch and how you feel than anything else. It's part of making the weapon yours instead of just a standard weapon, I guess it's like...imbuing it with part of your essence." She grinned, turning a bright smile on Rachel, "It's probably the one kinda meditation I do like. You're Rachel right?"

Rachel looked at [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] slightly defeated at her honest answer of the fact it was more down to touch and how she felt. More about imbuing one's self and mediation. "Yes my name is Rachel. But you have to be kidding meditation. I can barely get my force push to work how am I supposed to meditate and create a lightsabre." She looked for a spot to sit down still dismayed.

"Is there any other way to create a lightsabre? I really do suck at using my force powers. My brothers were so much better at it." She would admit more than a little upset at this revelation. "Like there has to something right?" She would ask looking at the pink haired woman. She hoped there was, she really was terrible at learning how to use her powers properly.

A soft smile pulled at Asaraa's lips, "Well, we have a lot of training sabers or older sabers you could use if you wanted to," she offered as she gestured with one finger, her lightsaber flicking up off her belt, spinning idly in the air before it slapped into her hand. "But that's not quite the same." With the flick of a button, the silvery cylinder of energy ignited sending shadows dancing across the surface of the path in front of them. "Your lightsaber is almost like another limb, the meditation makes it so it's a part of you." The pink-haired girl leant backwards and grinned, "I mean you could always make one without it, but then," she reached out with the force to levitate some stones off the ground, letting them circle slowly around Rachel's head like a halo, "someone would be able to pluck the lightsaber right out of your hand. It's really not that bad," she relented, "the masters have a lot of experience guiding someone through the process and I mean...I'm not exactly the best at meditation, but if I can do it then you can for sure."

Rachel sat and thought. She thought on meditation. She though on the best way she did it. As she did the spirits wished things into her ears. Ways other than standard mediation. Moving meditation or practising combat moves sounded more her style. Her brother that was dead would have been more a sitting mediator while her other brother a fixing mediator.

So she stood tall and ran herself through several combative movements she could remember and felt something ebb and flow deep within her. She should have her own lightsabre and she knew deep within her it wouldn't be a master helping her make it but [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]. "No I want you to show me how you do meditation and how you would construct a lightsabre. Something deep down tells me it should be you." She said with a smile.

The pink haired girl returned the smile with a small shrug, letting hands fall out behind her resting them on the grass as she closed her eyes, relaxing as the rays of the sun caressed her flesh. A soft sound of contentment slipped fomr her lips as she tilted her head around to look at Rachel. "If you're sure, well meditation, I've heard it's different for each person. It's whatever clears your mind, as if you were going into battle? How would you prepare yourself for it? So you didn't have any distractions."

She looked at [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] as she asked how Rachel prepared for battle. "I hate to tell you I don't, I have come to a conclusion that there could always be battle around the corner, so I am always ready to fight anything hostile I can't talk down or generally change the mind of somehow." She said with a shrug before feeling something in her pockets. She brought out two broken crystals and in doing so visualised a whip looking thing.

She then went about making it before turning around showing a rather peculiar lightsabre whip that's colour was a dark silver. "There I think that's done it. This is my lightsabre." She said with a smile at Asaraa before bowing "Thank you for assisting me."

That was an unusual lightsaber, the fluid nature of hte blade would require Rachel to learn a completely different style of combat from the usual lightsaber forms, which could come as a surprise for anyone who tried fighting her in the future. Which, to be honest, wasn't the worse thing in the world. Any advantage in a fight was something to be taken advantage of.

"Well, you're most welcome. I hope I managed to help, but I think that you did most of the work here yourself." Now she was a little curious about how the blade would actually fight, "We'll have to test it out sometime too." No-one could accuse her of not being honest about her thoughts, besides, if Rachel could come up with the idea then someone else would copy it and better to be prepared.

She nodded to her friend [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]. "Yeah we will once I have had some time adjusting to it. I have never really used a whip before. I don't know why the force lead me to build one." She said looking down at the weapon. "It is really strange." She said attempting to use it and missing the target altogether. "This might take me a bit longer than I thought." She said.

Several hours later she had finally gotten the basics down and managed to actually hit something. "Okay I think I have got it. You wanna duel and test my skills? I might not be good but I can at least hit something now."

The girl arched an eyebrow, pushing herself up easily off the ground where she'd been meditating, fingers flexing as a small ghost of a smile danced across her lips. "I mean if you're sure," the pink-hiared girl held out her hand as her lightsaber floated up off her belt, slapping into her outstretched palm, "but just so you know, I don't hold back for anyone, not even friends. Although, I'll admit I'm kinda curious to see what your whip there can do."
