HYPERLANE INFORMATION
HYPERLANE CHARACTERISTICS
  • Speed: Very Low
  • Accessibility: A rarely used hyperlane, the Sibwarra trail is known mostly to the Shi'ido of Lao-mon. It experienced a resurgence during the SGHW, when the Unknown Regions were conquered by the Mawites. The obscure hyperlane proved useful for those fleeing the occupation.
  • Route Hazards: Typical Unknown Regions risks, although in this case, the route is so untraveled and so poorly documented, there's no telling what you might encounter along the way.
  • Rest Stops: The entire trail is one long lonely stretch. Many of the planets along the way are deserted or lack any real civilization. Travelers are at risk of running out of fuel due to the lack of stations or inhabited worlds.
DESCRIPTION

"A third [Ssi-ruuvi cruiser] jumped into hyperspace too quickly to have made calculations, fleeing blindly." - Kathy Tyers, The Truce At Bakura

Following the thwarted invasion of Bakura, the Ssi-ruuk were forced to retreat. One of their cruisers made a hasty jump to hyperspace in its eagerness to escape the losing battle. The ship emerged somewhere near Lao-mon, homeworld of the Shi'ido.

These panicked Ssi-ruuk had just unwittingly charted the Sibwarra Trail (named after Dev Sibwarra, a notable casualty during the battle), a hyperspace route so obscure it was virtually unknown until recently. With traffic already low in the Unknown Regions, virtually nobody traveled the Sibwarra prior to around 870 ABY. It was seen as a useless route with very little reason to traverse it.

With the conquest and ravaging of Lao-mon during the SGHW, the Sibwarra Trail resurfaced as a relatively "safe" way in and out of the Maw-infested Unknown Regions. It was used to ferry millions of refugees to freedom—though many were killed during the journey, falling prey to the risks associated with a mostly untraversed hyperlane. Still, it has earned its place of honor in the history of the Shi'ido for those who did survive.
