ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Triple KGDefender Drive Array: The original propulsion system has been replaced by three military-grade KonGar KGDefender ion engines, extensively tuned and integrated with the vessel's modified power distribution and flight-control systems.
  • SLAM System: A SubLight Acceleration Motor allows the Shyyyo to force considerably more thrust from its propulsion system for short periods, contributing heavily to its exceptional acceleration and top speed.
  • Modified Hyperdrive: A heavily tuned Class 0.3 primary hyperdrive is supported by an independent Class 12 backup unit.
  • N-CRAB Astrogation Bypass: A Nav Computer Route Astrogation Bypass allows the Shyyyo to adjust course while already travelling through hyperspace without first returning to realspace.
  • Electronic Warfare Suite: Extensive ECM and ECCM equipment, including a Full-Spectrum Distortion Projector, provides broadband sensor interference and targeting disruption against hostile tracking systems.
  • Low-Observability Package: Nightshadow-treated and Reflec-coated hull panels are combined with a sensor-stealth system, bafflers and thrust trace dampers. Together they reduce sensor returns, electronically muffle onboard energy signatures and lessen the detectable exhaust trail produced by the vessel.
  • Countermeasure Suite: Chaff and flares are supplemented by a small complement of MerenData Mimic Sensor Decoys. The decoy drones can project electromagnetic and holographic signatures intended to resemble full-sized spacecraft and provide convincing false targets during an escape.
  • Transponder and Signature Masking: A modular transponder rack carries prepared identification hardware and incorporates a masking code modulator alongside a signature modulator. The systems allow the vessel's transmitted identity and sensor signature to support an alternate ship profile once direct observation has been broken.
  • Tractor-Beam Countermeasures: A Shroud can confuse and displace a tractor beam's tracking lock, providing the Shyyyo an opportunity to escape its hold.
  • Ion/EMP Hardening: Mag-shielding protects vulnerable electronics and other critical systems against ion and electrical discharges.
  • Shipboard Automation: An X10-D droid brain assists with autopilot and control of shipboard functions, supplementing cockpit-slaved systems and KA-5E "Kase" during minimal-crew operation.
  • Sensor-Resistant Compartments: Concealed cargo spaces make use of Nightshadow compartment lining to substantially reduce the effectiveness of routine cargo scans.
  • Hyperwave Inertial Momentum Sustainer: A Hyperwave Inertial Momentum Sustainer allows the vessel to briefly maintain hyperspace through many interdiction fields rather than being immediately forced back into realspace.
x
STRENGTHS
  • Run Them Down, Or Leave Them Behind: Three military-grade KGDefender ion engines, extensive tuning and a SLAM system make the Shyyyo exceptionally fast. Its acceleration and top speed are the vessel's defining performance advantage.
  • Built to Move: Upgraded flight controls, powerful manoeuvring systems and extensive modification make the Shyyyo highly agile for a freighter of its size.
  • Hard to Hold: Nightshadow, Reflec, sensor-stealth systems, bafflers, thrust trace dampers and electronic warfare equipment give the vessel several overlapping methods of reducing, confusing or disrupting hostile sensor tracking.
  • False Trail: Mimic Sensor Decoys, a masking code modulator and a signature modulator give the Shyyyo several established ways of complicating identification or sending pursuit after the wrong target once contact has been broken.
  • Take the Hit and Keep Going: Strong shields, reinforced critical compartments, system redundancy and mag-shielded electronics give the Shyyyo considerable survivability while it creates distance from an attacker.
  • Disable and Disengage: Ion cannons, automated laser turrets and ion or mag-pulse missiles give the vessel several ways to disrupt or disable pursuit without relying on overwhelming firepower.
  • Minimal Crew: Cockpit-slaved controls, an X10-D droid brain and KA-5E "Kase" allow the ship's major systems to be operated effectively with a very small crew.
  • Flexible Astrogation: The N-CRAB and HIMS provide useful options once the Shyyyo enters hyperspace, allowing course alterations without a normal realspace stop and providing a means of pushing through many interdiction fields.
x
WEAKNESSES
  • Power Hungry: The Shyyyo cannot operate every high-demand system at maximum output indefinitely. Engines, shields, electronic warfare equipment and weapons all compete for available power, forcing the pilot to prioritise systems during sustained engagements.
  • Not a Gunship: The vessel carries enough weaponry to defend itself and disable pursuers, but prolonged exchanges with dedicated combat craft work against the Shyyyo's design. Its best defence remains creating an opportunity to leave.
  • Specialist's Nightmare: Extensive modifications, military-grade propulsion and numerous specialist systems have made the vessel complicated and expensive to maintain. Many repairs require specialist knowledge and components rather than ordinary dockyard servicing.
  • SLAM Trade-Off: Pushing the SLAM system places significant strain on the propulsion and power systems. During maximum-output operation, energy available to other systems, particularly energy weapons, is reduced.
  • Speed or Silence: The stealth systems reduce signatures rather than eliminating them. Three military-grade ion engines running at extreme output still produce substantial energy and exhaust, making discreet operation increasingly difficult when the Shyyyo is being pushed for maximum performance.
  • Not Invisible: Nightshadow, Reflec, sensor-stealth systems, bafflers and thrust trace dampers make detection more difficult, but none constitutes a true cloaking device. Close-range scans, powerful sensor platforms and sustained observation can still locate the vessel.
  • Continuous Track: Alternate transponder codes and signature modulation do not erase an observer's existing visual or sensor track. The Shyyyo must first create separation or otherwise break contact before a false identity becomes substantially useful.
  • Finite Countermeasures: Mimic Sensor Decoys, chaff, flares and similar physical countermeasures are expendable and can be exhausted during a prolonged pursuit.
  • Interdiction Limits: The HIMS can briefly sustain the Shyyyo through many interdiction fields while already in hyperspace, but it does not allow the vessel to initiate a hyperspace jump while trapped inside a gravity well.
  • Reduced Cargo Capacity: The triple-engine installation, reinforced systems, electronics and concealed compartments consume a substantial amount of internal volume. The Shyyyo's original 150 metric ton cargo capacity has consequently been reduced to approximately 100 metric tons.

DESCRIPTION
The Shyyyo began as a Corellian Engineering Corporation YT-2400 light freighter, though relatively little of its original performance profile remains untouched. Its modifications have largely followed one priority: get somewhere quickly, survive trouble when it finds it, and leave before that trouble becomes a prolonged fight.

The most substantial alteration is the propulsion system. The standard drives were removed in favour of three military-grade KonGar KGDefender ion engines, an arrangement with precedent in other heavily modified YT-2400s. Modified power distribution, upgraded flight controls and a SLAM system allow the engines to be pushed considerably beyond normal freighter performance. At full output the Shyyyo has exceptional acceleration and straight-line speed while retaining unusually strong manoeuvrability for a vessel of its size. Running the engines this hard carries a cost. Wear increases quickly, specialist maintenance is regularly required, and SLAM operation draws power away from other systems.

Offensive armament has remained comparatively restrained. Automated dorsal and ventral laser turrets provide broad defensive coverage, while forward ion cannons allow the pilot to disable engines, shields or other systems long enough to create an opening. A pair of missile launchers provide additional options against difficult pursuers. The Shyyyo was not rebuilt to trade fire with dedicated warships, and its weapons are primarily intended to change the circumstances of a pursuit rather than dominate one.

Much of the space and power that could have supported heavier weaponry instead went into survivability, sensors and countermeasures. Nightshadow and Reflec treatments reduce the hull's sensor return, while the sensor-stealth system electronically muffles energy signatures generated by the ship itself. Bafflers reduce the detectability of the ion exhaust, and thrust trace dampers collect and cool exhaust gases before releasing them. ECM, ECCM and the Full-Spectrum Distortion Projector provide a more active means of interfering with sensors and targeting systems when discretion alone is no longer enough.

The various stealth measures do not make the vessel invisible. They work best when the ship is managing its emissions and avoiding unnecessary output. Driving three KGDefenders at their limits works against that goal. The Shyyyo can reduce its presence considerably when operating carefully, or use its engines to make distance very quickly, but maximum performance creates signatures that the stealth systems can only mitigate.

When a pursuit becomes more complicated, the Shyyyo has several other established countermeasures available. MerenData Mimic Sensor Decoys can produce false electromagnetic and holographic ship signatures, giving a pursuer additional contacts to sort through. Once the vessel has broken direct observation, its masking code modulator and signature modulator can support a prepared alternate identity through the modular transponder installation. These systems can disguise what the ship claims to be and how it appears to sensors, but they cannot make a continuously observed vessel spontaneously become something else.

The hyperspace installation received similar attention. The primary hyperdrive is tuned to Class 0.3, with a much slower Class 12 drive retained for emergencies. An N-CRAB allows a course to be adjusted while already travelling through hyperspace without first returning to realspace. A Hyperwave Inertial Momentum Sustainer provides a separate option against interdiction by briefly sustaining the vessel through many gravity-well encounters. It does not allow the ship to begin a jump while already trapped inside one.

Internally, the freighter remains recognisably a working private vessel. It retains cargo handling equipment, passenger accommodation, medical facilities, secure storage and living space. A significant amount of the original internal volume, however, has been surrendered to the enlarged propulsion system, additional electronics, reinforcement and concealed compartments. Its useful cargo capacity has consequently fallen to approximately 100 metric tons. Several concealed spaces use Nightshadow compartment lining to make routine scans substantially less effective.

Automation is extensive throughout the vessel. An X10-D droid brain supports autopilot and shipboard control functions, while weapons, targeting and countermeasure systems have been arranged for operation from the cockpit. KA-5E "Kase" provides an additional shipboard operator when present. The result allows the Shyyyo to function effectively with a minimal crew, although the amount of specialist technology packed into the hull makes maintenance considerably less straightforward than on a stock YT-2400.

For Rafe Mazzic, those compromises are intentional. The Shyyyo can still carry freight and passengers, but conventional freight work is no longer the only demand placed upon the hull. It has been rebuilt around speed, discretion and surviving an unwanted encounter without needing to win it.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • KA-5E "Kase": Kase is a programmed LRD-series envoy droid assigned to Rafe Mazzic and the Shyyyo. His programming has been tailored around Rafe's preferred communications protocols, contacts and working habits, with the LRD-series' existing mimic capabilities providing a familiar vocal and conversational profile when dealing with regular clients.
  • Communications Role: Kase monitors communications, freight listings and incoming job inquiries, filtering routine traffic and gathering details such as cargo, destination, payment, scheduling and any unusual requirements. Relevant information is passed to Rafe for review, while routine messages and preliminary inquiries can be handled without interrupting flight operations or other work. Contractual decisions remain with Rafe unless Kase has been given specific prior instructions.
  • Shipboard Role: Kase assists with communications, information handling and ordinary shipboard duties aboard the Shyyyo. He is not the vessel's primary automation system; the X10-D droid brain remains responsible for integrated shipboard automation and autopilot support.
