Don't Trust Your Senses

Slip walked down the halls of the Commenor Temple, hopelessly lost, trying to find his way to where he was supposed to meet up with the others. Of course, the place was huge, and was impossible to navigate, and the instructions he was given were equally confusing. Slip looked around, hallways leading every which way. Yep, he was definitely lost.
The shadow man stood nearby, being his usual not-helpful self. For a hallucination and fragment of Slip's own mind, he was surprisingly unhelpful, and seriously annoyed Slip sometimes. Slip knew that he was just getting annoyed by a nonexistent being that was a figment of his own mind, but still, the shadow man could at least be a little helpful sometimes, instead of being unhelpful almost all of the time.
Slip was here because he had been given the opportunity to train and meet a member of the Omega Squad, so of course Slip had accepted. Being a supersoldier, he could respect those in commando and special forces positions, as he had been made for that, and trained since birth for such a role, so of course Slip knew what it was like to have so much pressure put on someone. It definitely was an interesting lifestyle.
But if only he could figure out where he was supposed to go! Of course he would get lost, he always got lost! And the shadow man was really starting to piss him off. Usually the shadow man was very talkative, but not today. Today, for some reason, he was eerily quite, which both concerned and annoyed Slip. Something was off, but as for what, Slip had no clue, as the shadow man wasn't telling him or giving him any signs to what that thing might be. Strange.
And right now he was really annoyed by the lack of proper signage or maps in the Temple. It was like this place was made to get lost in...
For now, Slip walked through the hallways, trying to find his destination, which were the training rooms.
Sometimes, he wondered by architects decided to make buildings like this so complex and confusing. Now, he knew why: to confuse people like Slip, and to make them lost. And to leave a bad first impression on the people they were meeting.
Perfect way to start the day.
