The Sand Is Hot!

Daniel Blaidd

Daniel got up off the sand of the strange planet and looked around. Where was he? The planet was different from his home, this planet seemed way hotter. This hot planet burned him, he could not get in touch with nature, the only thing that seemed to be on the planet was sand. His feet were starting to become sore, he sighed as he began to look around some more, not that far ahead of him was a structure, 'what is that?' He thought, he then remembered, this is what the elders of his tribe called a building.

He began to walk towards it. As he walked, his war axe dangled loosely from his leather skin belt. The pelt on his body began to get heated, he reached the building and was about ten feet away from the entrance when he heard a sound, he instantly unsheathed his war axe and crouched down into a low fighting stance, he waited for whatever it was to come out.

"Stay calm Daniel...." He whispered to himself.

Darius was on this world for one particular reason only. His former teacher, Master Sedaire, had brought down a Krayt Dragon along with the rest of the Corellian Jedi. From this beast he'd found a unique pearl that made his own weapon practically unstoppable. Darius could not hope to bring down one of the monsters - not on his own anyway. He could, however, quietly observe them. The beasts had remarkable senses, and for the past week he'd been especially cautious in his hunt. Unfortunately he had not managed to come across anything but tracks.

Except for now.

He had felt the figure in the force some time ago. The teenager's ability to sense things was not particularly grand, but he could pick up faint echoes, as it were. This being the only sentient creature within several kilometers made that sensory particularly easier.

Clad in a heavy brown cloak to shield himself from the wind, the padawan trudged toward the stranger. In the distance he saw a building, and by it his quarry. Drawing his cowl back from his face, Darius began a slow trek toward the stranger.

"What -" too much wind, " -...what are you doing out here? This whole area has been abandoned for months - it's a Krayt hunting ground!"

Daniel felt the wind gust, grains of sand would brush through the pelt, he faintly heard a would from behind him, perhaps a voice. The Tribe boy turned keeping his fighting stance steady, he looked at the man in from to him, he wore strange clothing, one not natural to the tribe. Daniel tilted his head in confusion, the teen in front of him did not seem much older than himself.

The boy felt the sand grains between his toes. He then looked up to the sun, high up there was a bird, he looked back down to the strange man, his necklace and braid blew side to side in the wind.

He thought back to his grandfather, "those outsider's always have a secret plot." His grandfather said. He snapped back to reality, "I'd ask you you the same thing outsider." Daniel said still on edge, he looked around. "This may be a hunting ground, but I do not care." He said.

He looked the older teen in the eyes, and kept his stance.

"You'll care when one makes you its dinner," Darius quipped. His hand had been lingering near his lightsaber - it dropped to his side. This guy was tense, but he didn't seem like much of a threat. Not that the axe he held was entirely friendly - the Padawan just felt this stranger could be talked down. "I'm out here tracking them. For geological...surveys."

Because Krayt Dragons were rock formations.

"I wasn't expecting to run into anyone out here. Where's your speeder?" Darius lofted a brow. It only made sense for the stranger to have some kind of vehicle nearby; unless he was staying in that singular building. Darius realized that might have been the case.

"Hey, uh, I'm Darius," he held his hands out wide, "Not gonna hurt you bud. That house yours?"

Daniel watched as the man across him dropped his hand to his side.

"Geological surveys?...." Daniel whispered to himself, he wondered why the man wanted to do that. Daniel listened to the man as he spoke, the man asked where his speeder was, Daniel became confused.

"What is a speeder?" Daniel asked, without noticing he let his guard down just a bit. The man introduced himself as Darius.

"D-Darius....I am Daniel..." Daniel said softly. He then heard the man say he wasn't going to hurt him, this caused Daniel to bring his beapon down and stand up a bit more.

"That........house?.....n-no that is not mine.......maybe yours?" The teen said.

Daniel put his axe away and looked at Darius.

"Why are you dressed like that?"

So it was just a shelter? A bit odd, though not unheard of. Homes out in the Dune Sea were often abandoned when Krayt Dragons made the areas around them their new territory. It was just too dangerous to survive out here when those beasts were on the prowl. There were no walls that would stop them; no home was safe. Still, it might serve a purpose now, both for himself and this clearly confused young man.

Part of him felt like the boy was on spice. However, when he probed him with the force, he surmised the boy was entirely healthy. An amnesiac perhaps?

"Speeders are vehicles. They float with repulsorlifts - we use them for travel," Darius murmured, his arms falling slack at his sides. This kid was clearly not a threat. "It's nice to meet you Daniel - these are Jedi Robes. They keep the sand off of me and give me shade from the suns."

He came to a halt a pace or so away from the young man, arms folding over his chest, "Are you all alone out here Daniel?"
