SETTING INFORMATION
  • Nexus Name: Sanctum of Ren
  • Nexus Alignment: Dark
  • Location: Covenant of Blood
  • Affiliation: Knights of Ren
  • Size: Small
  • Strength: Small
  • Accessibility: The Sanctum of Ren is located deep inside the Covenant of Blood, surrounded on all sides by layers of armor plating, and the ship itself. Only a single entrance is accessible for the Sanctum of Ren, and it is guarded at all times by at least two Knights of Ren. To get to this entrance, one must travel through the depths of the Covenant of Blood itself, facing down thousands of crew, cultists and other defenders intent to stop them.
  • Description: The Sanctum of Ren is built using obsidian as the primary material and brass as a secondary. The Sanctum is fifty meters long and twice that across and in height. Flames are an ever-present part of the Sanctum, flowing through carefully cut channels around the Sanctum, allowing for the heat to wash across those entering, but never truly risking their safety. At the entrance is a large arch, with either side of the arch having an opening leading to the Infernal Engine, the source of the flames. In the middle of the Sanctum is the Altar of Pain, a raised platform with a simple obsidian table atop it. At the far end of the Sanctum is the Throne of Souls, the seat for the Master of the Knights of Ren.
NEXUS EFFECTS
The Sanctum of Ren emits an aura that when encountered by Dark Side adherents, lowers the inhibitions of individuals and brings the darker emotions and feelings inside to the forefront. The Sanctum plays on an individual's emotions, enhancing the feelings of anger, pain, and fear to almost physical levels within an individual. For followers of the Light Side and Non-Force Users, the Sanctum of Ren will inspire a sense of heart-gripping dread, and can potentially stop the hearts of those of especially weak will.

POINTS OF INTEREST

  • Throne of Souls: Situated at the far side of the Sanctum of Ren, wreathed in flames, and flanked by banners flying the Brotherhoods banners behind it, is the Throne of Souls. Made from obsidian and brass, the Throne of Souls dominates the Sanctum of Ren from a three-meter high platform, easily able to see every part of the Sanctum. Dozens of spikes line the platform, each one holding the well-preserved skull of one of the greatest enemies defeated by the Knights of Ren.
  • Infernal Engine: Situated near the entrance of the Sanctum is the Infernal Engine, a massive construct of brass set into the floor on either side of the entrance to the Sanctum. The Infernal Engine fuels the flames that are ever-present within the Sanctum, providing the only light in the otherwise pitch-black temple. The Infernal Engine is fueled by the kyber crystals of those Force Users killed by the Knights of Ren and slowly bled to release their energy. The Infernal Engine turns this outpouring of energy into a thermal reaction, which sustains the flames around the Sanctum.
  • Altar of Agony: At the center of the Sanctum of Ren is a raised section of the floor. A meter off the ground, this simple platform has an obsidian table on top of it, with restraints at the ready as needed. Located at the center of the Sanctum, the Altar of Agony receives most of the Nexus's effect. Any physical pain felt here is amplified to exponential levels, while mental torture can have much more rapid and devastating effects. Inlets carved into the platform allow for liquid to pool off the obsidian table and run into collection pools for use in future alchemical practices should a need arise.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Sanctum of Ren came into being shortly after the Covenant of Blood was completed. Given the vessel's construction in parts, the Sanctum could only be completed after all the other pieces of the puzzle had come together. Left blank in the original design schematics, the Sanctum of Ren was built while the ship was taking on its crew and supplies. Located at the very heart of the vessel, the Sanctum of Ren serves as the gathering place for the Knights of Ren, and the seat of governance for their new nation in the making.
