Description:
- Seen from hundreds of miles away, The Rupture is a massive, misty and glowing feature of the Horizon. On-Site, it is an extremely active region denoted by the single, massive fault that stretches down to the upper-mantle, accompanied by hundreds of streaking, less intense faults, all stretching across almost half the planet
Points of Interest:
- The Rupture: Technically The Rupture is a massive network of fault lines, but it is famously known for the single, long and stupidly large Fault that stretches across half the planet. This region is surrounded by Lava Fields, Volcanoes, Dry Oceans and is permeated by an intense Volcanic Mist
- Minor Faults: Stretches across all sides of The Rupture are hundreds of smaller faults. These are much safer to explore and act more as Tourist Attractions. They are still major faults reaching deep into the Crust, accompanied by hundreds of active volcanoes and lava fields, but much all dwarfed by the Primary Fault.
- Geothermal Plants: This entire half of Skism was the source of all energy for the S'kiss before The Emergence came. These Plants still stand, and quite a few still operate, providing Auxiliary and Emergency power to the Planetary Grid. But most are now defunct and are slowly being eroded by the intense heat and tectonic activity
HISTORICAL INFO
The result of massive Tectonic Movements, The Rupture is a fault more extreme than any other. A series of Plates moving away from each other for billions of years has finally resulted in the massive tear we see today, stretching all the way down to the upper mantle.
Since the development of sophisticated energy technology, the S'kiss have relied on the tremendous amounts of heat generated from The Rupture to satiate their growing population through the use of an extensive Geothermal Plant network spanning the entire length of the fault. However, these facilities have recently been largely abandoned since the arrival of The Emergence and the subsequent switch to less expensive Antimatter Reactor Complexes.
