The Royal Terephon engineers have been the premier privately owned ship-building, weapons manufacturing etc... company on Terephon for centuries. They represent nearly in some way 80% of all goods manufactured on Terephon and are owned entirely by House Vale, the traditional ruling House of Terephon for the last several hundred years. Primarily, RTE enjoys ship-building and arms manufacturing contracts with the Terephon government but also produces products for the Hapes Consortium and galaxy at large on a more limited basis. Beyond their noble claim to the Duchy of Terephon, ownership of RTE accounts for a majority of House Vale's political clout within the Consortium.
RATIONALE
As per House Vale protocol, when Lady Rowan turned thirty she inherited the title of Ducha which had previously been held by her deceased mother. In addition to nominal executive authority of the Terephon government, as well as command of Terephon's military forces, this also entitled her to the majority stake in the Royal Terephon Engineers-a company founded by her ancestor Ducha Celesta Vale in the year in 41 ABY, after the previously ruling family was removed following a coup attempt against the Queen Mother.
