Description:
Cantina by day, club by night, the Rugger is a backstreet establishment in the lower promenade district of Nar Shaddaa. While it isn't the greatest - or cleanest - place around, the Rugger boasts cheap prices and a long standing patronage. It is visited by beings of all walks of life, from those who have only just stepped foot on Nar Shaddaa to those who have been visiting it - or residing there - for decades. It is particularly a favourite for Smugglers.
The Owner/Landlord, Ari Sinnat, allows virtually anything to happen within the walls of his Cantina provided his property is not damaged and his closer friends aren't bothered. Want a drink? They can sort that out. Something to eat? Any time of day! A bit of Glitterstim? Walk this way... Be warned, though. Once you get on the Gossam's bad side, no amount of begging will remove you from his black list.
The Rugger's bar is run by a couple of Besalisk, who are practically entertainers in and of themselves. There are also a couple of Twi'lek waitresses, but surprisingly Sinnat only really has them out during the day. Hey, he may be a scoundrel but he's not that kind of man.
The Romping Rugger boasts live music almost every evening, though some bands leave more to be desired, as well as a jukebox filled with all the latest Galactic Hits! Its alcoholic imports include some of the finest Mandalorian Spirits, Brews from the Outer Rim, and Wine made before Corellia became Brokellia! Don't care for wasting a little extra coin on the finer stuff? We've got you covered there, too! Just, don't expect it to taste all that great. Or be cool. It will get you off your head, though!
Inside, the atmosphere can be described simply as intense and intimate. During the later hours, a darkness sets in which is further aided by a thick smog of smoke which drifts through the establishment. The ground is usually sticky with spilled drinks and other questionable substances, the tables no better. In one corner a red light blinks above a thinly veiled door, but we don't talk about that... By contrast, the daylight hours are actually rather nice. Every surface is clean enough to eat upon, and AC units blow clean air throughout. It's also considerably quieter during these hours, after all the Rugger is more known for its nighttime delights than its more humble afternoons.
Every year the Rugger hosts a Novacrown Tournament, which attracts a surprising amount of attention. This event proves to be one of the most successful days of the year in terms of profit and turnout. By contrast, the rest of the year is rather... Normal. A steady swathe of people throughout the day, pub crawlers, staunch Rugger patrons, and first timers in the evening. Once it was the place to be! Now it's simply another club in an already over-saturated market.
