SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: The Refuge
  • Classification: Villa
  • Location: Vylmira
  • Affiliation: Voph
  • Accessibility: The Refuge is in the mountains far to the north of Vylmira City. While accessible by land, it's far more difficult to reach owing to the mountainous terrain. By airspeeder, however, it is quite easy to access. Assuming you know where to find it.
  • Description: The majority of the structure is built within the mountain, with only the top of the structure visible from the outside. The exterior walls are made of stone, as is a majority of the structure, but other materials have been used in the interior to make the structure more homely.
POINTS OF INTEREST

While a strange choice of name, the structure is built around a central shaft, theorized to be an old mining shaft of some kind. The Courtyard is completely enclosed, but well illuminated from a large crystalline structure that was designed to look like it is growing out of the roof of the cavern. Various Braziers hang from the walls, illuminating the courtyard in a soft orange glow. Down the south side of the wall, a waterfall plunges into the abyss below. A "safety net" in the way of a Force Field Generator exists to prevent people or objects from falling into the void. The Courtyard features five exits leading to the Meeting Hall (Bottom Left), The Forge (Top Left), Landing Pad (Top Middle, behind the pillar of light), Hall of Tranquility (Bottom Middle), and the Main Hall (Right).

Located just off the courtyard, the Meeting Hall is a simple room that Voph uses to entertain guests and business deals. Also doubles as a dining room. As with the rest of the dwelling, the Meeting room is designed to have a rustic aesthetic, reflecting the temples that Voph used to dwell in, but still features the full array of technological features one may expect from a meeting room.

The Main hall is located off the Southern exit from the Courtyard, and leads to the private halls of The Refuge. Along the walls stand armor-clad mannequins, and trophies of Voph's history as Sith, Warrior, and Admiral. From the carpet clad main hall, one has access to the Baths, The Master Bedroom, and Guest Hall.

Though named The Baths, this room is for recreational purposes. The master bedroom and guest rooms feature fully functional state-of-the-art refreshers for hygienic purposes. The smaller raised pool serves as a hot tub to relax in, while the larger pool allows for swimming. A fountain feeds the larger pool with heated water, as the cold stone often chills the water as well as it does the air within the refuge.

Continuing to capitalize on the rustic feeling, the Guest Halls appear to be a single open room, but the individual partitions are equipped with Holographic privacy screens and sonic dampening, allowing the guest total privacy while staying at the Refuge. Equipped with a fully functional fireplace and small dining area, the Guest Halls are designed to offer a cozy getaway in the mountains.

The Inner Sanctum of the Refuge, the Master Bedroom is dedicated to the Lord of the Refuge, and decorated with a number of trinkets from his past. Along one wall is a collection of bookshelves, filled to capacity with a wide array of books that Voph has collected over the years (An oddity for a blind individual). The Fireplace is natural, requiring wood or other fuels to properly function. Along one wall (Not pictured) is a small workbench that aids Voph in the creation and construction of Force Imbued items. Though there is a bed within this room, Voph's refusal to sleep means it rarely sees use, though it is large enough to comfortably fit two people.

A simple facility allowing Voph to create Armors and Weapons in peace, hidden away from the world when he needs time to himself. As with the rest of the villa, it is surprisingly modern in functionality, in sharp contrast with the rustic appearance.

Built to house a small garden within the Refuge, the lone tree is the only notable plantlife growing within. Be it the Force, or simply the awe-inspiring design of the small room, the deepest point of the Refuge instills a sense of calm and tranquility within those that visit, encouraging rest, and quiet reflection. Though they are not marked by conventional means, the stones around the small space serve as gravestones for Voph's closest friends and allies, even if their bodies have been lain to rest somewhere else.

Mechanical Level
Hidden in the walls and floors, there is an array of mechanical passageways, accessible by a hidden door within the meeting hall. A collection of droids wander these passages to maintain the Refuge's systems without interrupting the rustic design of the villa.

Landing Pad
The Refuge hosts a landing pad large enough for airspeeders or snub fighters to land and offload supplies, cargo, or passengers.

SECURITY
None

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Originally beginning construction after Vylmira was accepted as a member of the Confederacy, the structure was intended to be a small monastery of sorts, before Voph purchased it and began redesigning the structure to serve as his home. Built high in the mountains, The Refuge requires artificial heat, even in the summer, as the caverns can become quite cold. The Forge is the only location within the Refuge that naturally radiates heat, owing to the forge equipment stored within.

The Refuge is designed to reflect the ancient temples of the Jedi, offering a simple, homely feel that modern structures often lack. And though subconscious, Voph modeled certain aspects after his childhood home. While Voph may not be confident that he has truly found a place to call home, The Refuge offers a calm and stability that no prior lodging had. Finally able to forego living aboard his ship, Voph began to settle in, and decorate the place to suit his tastes, adorning the halls with mementos and memories of his various exploits across the galaxy...
