The Reek Races! (Interest check)

In order to obtain more money for the Beast Hunter's Guild, try something out i've wanted to do for ages, and make a fun thread for you gamblers and betters...

Mrrew is hosting a Reek Race.

Long story short, ten of these are going to be stampeded through a course of canyons on Tatooine (so that they don't go off course), chased by one of these to keep them running ahead at full speed. Spectators will be able to watch the race with viewing screens, connected to camera droids that will follow the race through the canyons.

Betting

Twice during the race, once before the race starts, and once halfway through the race, spectators in the crowd or watching through the holonet may place bets on whichever Reek they believe will win the race, making it's way out of the course first. Think real-life horse racing. Whoever bets on the winning Reek gets whatever he or she bet back...tenfold. (I.E If you bet one million credits... you get ten million back) Also, thos who bet over a million credits on a single Reek qualify for a range of expensive prizes. If the high stakes better were to bet on the winning Reek, they could win prizes ranging from a toaster... to a free pet Levioathan. The more you bet, the better your chances are... So bet away! Bets cannot be withdrawn, and all bets will be handeled through consoles.

How it will work

The race will be broken up into 10-20 posts- plus, of course, posts by the betters and spectators- depending on how many people display interest. I will use a random number generator (to keep everything completely fair) to decide what Reek(s) do what, I.E move to the head of the pack, lag behind, or... get eaten by the Bull Rancor- as well as have various obstacles and events occur throughout the race to keep it interesting. In the lat post, the winning Reek will be proclaimed, and winnings will go to the winning betters.

It's possible, of course, for more then one person to win- however many people bet on whichever Reek ends up winning. Gamblers have the chance to win millions... or lose millions. Plus, you get an entertaining sporting event to watch. Even if your character is poor, or not a gambler, you can enjoy the races just by being a spectator, or bet as little as a few credits! And remember, no matter what Reek you bet on (or prehaps you'll even bet on multiple reeks!) there's just a good of chance as winning as any other! Or you could bet on all the reeks, and be sure to win!

If anyone has any questionsm, no matter how small, don't hesitate to comment below! I'm hoping people display interest. :)

Inspired by Gordosa's Pod race!

[member="Darth Tsolan"] - Nope, sorry. :l You have the chance to win a shipload of credits, as well as the opprtunity to see violent beasts trample over eachother in order to escape from an even mor eviolent beast, though.... :p

[member="Kikhveakkaz"] - Glad you like it. :) As long as some more interested parties surface, i'll make the thread soon. :D

I suggest - just throwing it out there - instead of credits, you offer various grade of monstrous beast for the podium winners. People like credits, but credits mean only so much here; people want tangible rewards - they want new toys to spread Chaos with!

[member="Kikhveakkaz"] - That'snot a bad idea, but there may very well be multiple winners... For instance if everyone bets on the winning beast, everyone wins, and I have to give out 50000 Terentateks. xD

Hmm. Then make a regular bid, then a prize bid with a secret threshold, this way people can bid normally, but those who bid above a certain amount - known only to you - qualify for the prize pot. Then, give the highest bidder that wins the beast, and divide the rest of the pot on the others between lesser beasts/pack animals, and credit returns.
This way you only have to give out, say for example, one terentatek, a few maalraas, and the losers' credits. Not everyone would be receiving a beast, because not everyone might bid high enough to reach or surpass that secret minimum.

Edit: Bid. Bet. Damnit, my mind's on an auction right now. xD
