NAME: Grim Cut

FACTION: Rebel Alliance

RANK: Grim has been called many things in his life, but recently the labels Freedom Fighter, Terrorist, and Rebel seem to define him best. Some of his past titles include Gladiatorial Champion, Padawan Librarian, Slave, Noble, Street Urchin and even Husband. Grim has been called many things in his short life and seen just as much, but what he longs to be most... Is Free.

SPECIES: Human

AGE: 26

SEX: Male

HEIGHT: Grim is average height for a human Male. About six one. Long legs and an average torso. His arms reach almost to his knees, but not so far so as to seem long or spindly. His neck is average proportions and his head is of about the same. Grim's broad shoulders cause him to appear wider than he actually is. He has a boxer's lengths and carries himself like a fighter too. Being a fighter is all he has left and it shows in even how he carries himself.

WEIGHT: Grim is almost two hundred pounds of pure muscle. As a slave it was truly survival of the fittest and when he obtained his freedom he sought to maintain his physical appearance and stay in shape. He works out daily keeping his form and strength. His body is averagly shaped, but what weight he does have is heavily toned. Skin tight clothing outlines muscle and tendons easily. He has the physique of a warrior and the lifestyle to back it up.

EYES: Deep amber, almost a dark gold. The color of Grimm's eyes hint at the dark side corruption that now taints him, the light within them seemingly extinguished forever. If you stare long enough you may catch the faint hint of madness that is common among those who have undergone the torture the Sith inflict upon their prisoners, a twitch of an eye here, long distant stares at nothing, all tell tale of insanity. His eyes have the look of some one who has seen to much. The lost look, which often makes others believe Grim is staring at a distant something, is actually a symptom of the atrocities he has seen. Most who are professionally adept in diagnosing such things would say he has Shell Shock, The Thousand Yard Stare, or quite simply put PTSD.

HAIR: Short cropped sandy brown hair covers Grim's head. His face is clean shaven. His well upkept appearance is a byproduct of his training as a Jedi. He often keeps his silk like hair kept this manner out of habit and has little thought to change it. Rarely does he wonder what it might look like in any other manner. His hair is free off split ends and easily maintained. Truly hardy stuff, but still softer that spider's web.

SKIN: Grim's skin is light tan and covered in scars. Their was a time when Grim's skin was befret the marks of battle, but that time has long since passed. Grim's normally tan epidermis is riddled with white tissue that speaks of thousands of lashes to the back, at least a half a dozen blaster holes and three times as many cuts and stabs.

FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes

BIOGRAPHY: Grim grew up on the lustrous world of Ession during the days of The Dominion. His parents were nobles and rather well off. He was an only child and as such he was often spoiled. However his parents were often away dealing with the beuracratic politics that ran Ession. In their attempt to amend for their absence they bought Grim whatever he desired. His servants played with him as much as he wanted, but still none of it could amount to a parents affection.

When Grim turned ten a Jedi sensed a magic in him and asked his parents if he could take him to the Jedi academy on Ession to be trained in the ways of the force. His parents considered it a great honor and said yes without hesitation. Grim did not mind, he rather liked the Jedi Master. Living in the temple was hard at first, but he soon gained what his parents failed to buy, a family. Grim had gone from a life of luxury to the poor life of a monk and in only months he had adjusted with ease, because he now had brother and sisters. Fathers and Mothers who cared.

He picked up his lessons quickly and was soon at the head of his class. Upon reaching his thirteenth year Grim was ready to accept the title Padawan. He passed his trials as all thought he would and quickly chose which course of study he would like to do next. Grim had a hunger for knowledge of everything and anything and so while many assumed he would choose to become a sentinel or guardian, Grim choose something a little less adventurous. He choose to become a librarian.

Grim studied and read every text available to him. He categorized, alphabetized, and numerically cabineted each and every data pad, holocron and book in the great libraries shelves. Again he quickly caught on, but in his lust for knowledge he fell behind in his martial arts. Grim and the master librarian, Helion, began to know each other like family. Often rejoicing in each others company.

Helion fully supported Grim's thirst for knowledge and answered his questions or led him to the sources which could. They both regailed each other with the things they had learned from the novels and text they had read. The enjoyed testing one another on their histories or incantations. It was like a game to them, one which they loved immensely. Helion gifted Grim a book of Jedi poems and it quickly became Grim's favourite. As time went on Helion had begun to encourage Grim to skip his saber arts class to read or talk with him. Grim did so happily, but one day the library and Ession came under attack.

Helion had told Grim to leave his martial class and Grim did so. But, what both had not known was that the Sith had planned a daring attack on Ession. While the war had waged some years now, none had expected the Sith to be so bold as to attack the capitol. They had targeted the Jedi academy and, mainly, the library. They had sought to keep the Jedi from destroying their text and thus struck here as soon as possible. Helion and Grim were in the middle of reciting poetry when two aids rushed into the library and barred it shut. They pleaded with Helion and implored him to destroy the books, claiming all was lost. Helion agreed with tears in his eyes.

These text were his life's work and now instead of being able to pass them on to his would be son Grim, they would go up in flames. Helion employed Grims help and together they destroyed the one thing they loved as much as each other. When the Sith reached the library most the scrolls were destroyed. Grim held his book of poetry tightly as he hid beneath a collapsed series of shelves. The Sith quickly found the duo, but not before Helion had ushered Grim into a narrow sewer grate. Grim's last memory of Helion was watching him being struck as he threw himself upon the last of his sacred text. Grim was now sixteen.

Life under Sith occupation was hard and many died in the Sith's iron vice. They withheld food and supplies from the cities and noble families they suspected weren't loyal. Millions starved. But, none dared fight back. They simply sat there, like doe caught in head lights. Grim lived on the streets begging, but never stealing for food. His one prized possession, a book of poems by various knights, kept him from giving in to the temptations of crime. Every night he would read them and every night he would recite the Jedi code.

Grim had no friends and no one to help other than his book and his memories of Helion. He stayed in various shelters and worked odd jobs for food. Most days he didn't eat at all. It was a hard life that saw him grow a little colder to the universe at large. One day a group of urchins flash mobbed a store and stole various items. Grim had happened to be in the area and the authorities having nothing to go on other than that the perpetrators were bums arrested all the homeless within ten blocks off the store. He was now eighteen and to be sold for slavery.

Before when Grim was still with his parents he had been betrothed to another. She was a sweet girl, but it was not in most children their age to be cruel. The day Grim was put on auction he recognized Ashla's sparkling blue eyes in the distant. He didn't know how he knew it was her, but somehow he did. She was surrounded by a gaggle of servants and she was inspecting slaves for purchase. Their eyes locked and she immediately approached. She recognized him too. They talked for a time and she bought him, bringing him to her family manor estate. They told each other of all that happened and together they reminisced on their childhood.

Grim quickly fit into his role as servant and every night he would talk to Ashla making her dinner before bed and reciting her poetry from his book. He had a bed to sleep in, three meals a day, and once again a lover. He had yet to realize it, but with each passing stanza of poetry he read to her from his book, the deeper her heart enter twined with his. Grim and Ashla ran away one day. They sold her jewelry to buy a small farm and some land. Together they got married there. They cared for the land and while it was difficult learning at first, they soon were able to sustain themselves. They lived self sufficiently.

Ashla's parents had put a bounty on the duo however and it wasn't long after that first year that they were found. Grim and Ashla awoke one night to their door being kicked in. They hid underneath their bed, but the bounty hunter easily found them. He wrenched Ashla from beneath and she screamed Grim's name as she was taken. Grim was frozen in fear as his mind went back to the sight of Helion being struck down. Ashla resisted greatly and maimed the bounty hunter. She refused to give up her new life. So, he ended it for her. He fired his gun point blank into her and she crumpled to the floor.

Grim watched in horror as his wife fell to the floor for what seemed like hours. As she hit the ground with a dull thump Grim roared and did something he had been to scared to do since the library had fallen all those years ago. He withdrew his saber and fought back. He charged the hunter, swinging wildly at the cyborg. The bounty hunter easily disarmed him however and Grim wept as he rode in the back of a speeder next to his wife's corpse. Having found out Grim was a Jedi and having killed Ashla the bounty hunter turned Grim into the Sith instead.

The Sith tortured Grim for weeks, attempting to turn him. Every night before he passed out from pain Grim recited his wife's favorite poem. He had memorized it and somehow it gave him the will to persevere. Unable to break him the Sith sold him to the coliseum. Grim was now twenty two.

At first Grim had refused to fight. He was paired up with a man named Titus for a battle of duos. Grim merely sat idly by, refusing to even move. He longed for death. He longed to be with his wife, his father. But as Titus battled with the other gladiators, fending off death with tooth and nail, he spoke to Grim. He told the boy to fight, not just here, but everywhere the Sith reigned, for only than would Grim's loved ones know peace. Grim was to fight for not just himself, but a cause far greater than himself. The cause that is love.

Grim heard his words and found they rung true. Titus was like Grim, he had lost his whole clan in the Sith conquest of Mandalore. They had been purged in the day of reckoning and thus he lived as the sole survivor. Now Grim fought alongside Titus and together they slew the competitors in the name of love, in the name of vengeance. They survived their first assault within the arena of death. The crowd of Sith collaborators roared in approval at the champions. They showered them with gifts of flowers, gold and more from the safety of their booths. Grim would see them all shower him with with their blood. He vowed to have his retribution upon these barbarians and would see it done in the name of Helion, Ashla, and so many more.

Together Titus and Grim trained within their camp. Titus taught Grim Mandalorian war chants and Grim learned the language and chants quickly. At nights when they thought of the challenges of tomorrow to come, when fear begun to dig within their bones, they rejoiced in each other. Titus told Mandalorian war stories and Grim recited Jedi poetry in galactic high lingo. But, despite their fears, they won match after match. Going from one coliseum to the next, the two fought for their cause of harmony. The elder Titus training Grim in everything that he knew and Grim listening closely. Together they climbed their way to the top.

Finally after years of fighting Grim and Titus were to obtain their freedom, but first they were to fight the Sith governor son's chosen champions. The Sith youth had placed a large amount of credits on the match and the odds were heavily against Grim and his new brother. Together they fought fueled by love and vengeance. They won the day after hours of hard fighting. Dozens of enemy gladiators and beast were thrown at the pair, but the light side guided their blades and they found victory in the blood red sands of a Sith arena.

The Sith youth outraged by the win ordered the pair to be executed, but the crowd threatened riot if their beloved champions were killed. The Sith developed a cunning plan. One in which would spell death upon at least one if not both of the gladiators. A death match between the two new champions to decide who would go free. They were ushered into separate cages that night and as Grim thrashed about trying to obtain sleep he heard a soft song, harsh and mournful, ring out from Titus's corner of prison. Within his cage he sang his last cadence. All night he sang Vode'an.

Grim heard his older brother's song of love and wept. They marched onto the field and met each other within the center of the ring. They did not fight however. They embraced each other one last time. Titus whispered with tears in his eyes wishing his vod'ika farewell. He knew should one of them not die it would spell death for the both of them. Before Grim had realized what Titus was saying the Mandalorian pushed his brother from his hug and with blade he took his own life. Grim roared in angst, screaming. The crowd exploded in anger and boos. They had come to see a fight and had been cheated.

Grim was arrested and to be sold to the spice mines of Kessel. He was now twenty four...
