The Princess and the Pauper (Kiyala)

Alderaan

Always did she seem to end up on these streets, wandering the boardwalk, and finding herself just streets away from where she had grown up. She saw the tall building even now, despite being several blocks away. Though it was no castle, the menacing unstylish architecture signaled that clearly. She could hear the children's voices loudly, probably they were out playing in the yard. She shut her eyes, trying to drown out the time she had spent in that Orphanage...from a day old to when she was 13, finally old enough to escape and start her training as a Jedi.

She kicked a rock in her path, making sure to not go any closer to that place. It was as if a vortex, sucking her near but she always fought to not be dragged in completely...though she really had to focus on finishing her job and get off this rock. Only bad memories of childhood and more recent ones of war were here.

The job? Steal from the palace of Alderaan. Normally she stuck to smuggling, but hey...when a good burglary job presented itself she couldn't say no.

Oh how did she hate politics, or more so the preparation for potlics. Hours of putting on make-up that honestly couldn't make anyone feel good about themselves or look good. Then she had to listen to many lectures on who would be there, how not to offend them by any unnessacary body movements or looks. It was in short a very bad day for Kiyala, which is why she was leaving. Packing her things she had quickly disguised herself as well as she could considering the short amount of time she had. She crept to the edge of her room which laid an open glass doors to the balcony. Attaching her repelling rope, she readied herself for the jump or at least she did until she grew a weird feeling.

In fact, when she struggled to focus harder her mind stretched farther out and could only barely track the source of such irritation. In fact, it was occuring in the jewel and artifacts room below her. She took off running for the balcony leaping clear over it's railing, she had spent time with the witches where she may not be a threat to most but she was no kitten when it came to normal people. That was assuming the person bothering her was normal. As her fingers latched on tight to the repeling rope, she swung easily arcing toward the window of the jewel room.

Unfortunately, the windows were not open so with a quick but minor spell she caused the winds to open them for her. She easily landed into a roll inside scanning the area. Her voice still light thanks to her young age but didn't help for intimidation purposes as she yelled. "Thief come out! Maybe if you cooperate things won't get ugly for you." She remained rather low to the ground for stability reasons of course.

Leaving the streets near the Orphanage, she crossed town to the area she normally never entered. It was a place of riches, of royalty. When she was young, they would clear the streets of 'her kind', scared of thief. Was it ironic then, that she returned intent on what they supposed her to do? She would steal from them all right, she only wished she could steal their pompous superiority complexes as well.

The palace was guarded, locked, and walled, but through use of a few smuggler tricks she was able to get in undetected. Finally in the treasury vault, she started looking for the thing she had been hired to find: the Alderaanian Hetraton. Rare, beauty…and would fetch quite a price.

However, nothing was ever as easy as it looked. The windows sprung open and a girl jumped through, one who seemed quick to fight and show the world she was more than just someone in a pretty dress.

"Calm down," Mid said, her blaster still at her side. She wasn't going to shot this lively one, unless worse came to worse.

"Who are you, head of security?" she asked, continuing to look for the AH Jewel without too much bother of the hothead. Cause the girl certainly did not look like one of the guards, dressed the way she was and coming in through that window like Zorro.

"Don't brush me off! Your lucky I don't tell Daddy your stealing from him yet!" Kiyala called upon the force and more specifically a spell to draw an unnatural mist that though she was young given that it was a contained space the spell worked out pretty well. "Ha ! You can't steal what you can't see." Kiyala was seriously pissed off about how the woman didn't see her as a legitimate threat. She was boiling inside, so hot that the woman's sleeve would slightly catch on fire, she rose up from her crouched position now at this point attempting to grab Midnight's leg. Are you listening? Stop trying to steal from my family."

It attached she would have formed a tight grip on Midnight's leg. "I'm Kiyala your future Queen so you better listen to me lady!" Kiyala said toward Midnight.

It was hard not to break out laughing. She would have, however this girl was providing much more of a hindrance than Mid once thought--obviously knowing spells and being of the witch people. Sure it was funny having someone suddenly grab your leg, like a little child hugging their mommy in a crowd, but this little one was surely a hell child.

"Look, run off and tell your daddy, ok, but enough with the spells," she said, trying to slap the fire growing on her shirt out, while attempting to kick off the 'Queens' hold from her leg. "Ya know, this isn't very becoming of royalty."

Still she kept her blaster concealed, for she wasn't about to start shooting. Last thing she needed was to harm a princess, cause Mid knew that the penalty for that was decapitation...and well, she rather enjoyed her head. "And don't you think your family has enough? One little jewel isn't going to break you. Off girl, off!"

Kiyala was visibly mad but for once she was not speaking. In her mind she was attempting to figure out how to save this situation as eventually this would get back to her Father and she'd be in trouble for not alerting the guard as she should have. Her light frame was easily moved when Midnight attempted to kick her off of her, Kiyala now sat their in the middle of the floor. "You don't take me serious because I'm small but I won't be small forever. Then I'll be able to do whatever I want too." Most would think she'd like the princess life but after a while all the perks stopped mattering and you realized you were on castle arrest.

"Who says I want to be royalty. That's the problem; nobody ever asks me what I want. Everyone thinks they know what's going in my head." Though, she put out the fire Kiyala still allowed the mists to stay. At least if Kiyala wasn't going to stop her, she was going to find out why she came here to steal the item. "You remind me of this lady named Rapture, I read about her in the holo-net. Now she's a real leader and if she was here like I asked her to in that message she'd kick your ***" Kiyala folded her arms not knowing she was talking to that very lady, of course being as skilled as Midnight was the holo-reporters never caught a picture of her.

"Hey now, stop being a brat. You think anyone asks for the life they get? And royalty is helluva lot better than most lives I can think of."

Damn this mist, if not for it she could continue the search and get out of this mansion. She did not need to listen to this girl complain about her life, Mid couldn't muster any sympathy for the spoiled. But then the girl said her name. She was in the holo net? Man, that can't be good for business, cause she always tried to keep herself on the down lo. But what confused Mid was the message the lil'princess spoke of. She never received any message from her, must have gotten lost considering she was not the easiest person to track down.

"I don't think this Rapture you speak of can kick my butt. But why you'd think she'd do anything for you anyway? Is she your personal slave or something?" Being a princess, this girl probably thought everyone would just bow down and do what she said. The girl spoke about what she wanted? Well, Mid was pretty sure she never asked others the same question either. And how can you want, what you have never given?

Kiyala turned giving her the most evil look a 10 year old could. Looking dead in her eyes all childishness put to the side. "I Am Not A Brat." She then turned away as if done with the female entirely though the mist didn't let up a bit. In fact, despite the smallness of the room Kiyala could easily be lost in the room which would have been ideal had Kiyala had approached this situation thinking instead of acting.

Suddenly, their was a pounding at both of the doors to the treasury room though they were still on full lock down. Kiyala began to look around wandering how she was going to explain what was going on. But she stopped dead in her tracks when the lady said she could beat Rapture, she turned around once more not angry but in disbelief. "No lady, Rapture wouldn't have gotten caught by me, and no other people look down on her because they've been given everything as have I but I see that Rapture is really a hero so you can't beat her in a million years." With that Kiyala rolled her eyes as if she had forgotten that the guards were now attempting to come in the room.

"So you gotta option, you can play fair or we can see if I can keep you here long enough to get caught." As a sign of good faith, she reset the full lock down protocols on her holo pad to buy her some time to make a decision.

"Let's play then. I will take you outta here and help you find this heroic Rapture. In return you help me steal the Alderaanian Hetraton."

She sat back, letting the fog cloud around her. If she could get the brat to do the work, all the better. And wherever she was finding this silly stuff on her being heroic...gosh, where the heck did she get her news?

"You have to take the deal, think about it. If you father finds you in here with me, you're going to be grounded. There is no other way out of this castle to find the elusive Rapture except what I am offering. So if she's really that great, if I were you I would do what I say."

And she had to do it soon, judging by the noise of the guards getting closer.
