Approved Tech The Phylis Holocron

Status
Not open for further replies.
Intent: To create a holocron for the Master of First Knowledge, Phylis Alince. Also, it is a means to preserve her knowledge for future generations. And…because all the cool kids are doing it.
Development Thread: No
Manufacturer: Phylis Alince
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Independent
Modularity: Information can only be edited by Phylis
Production: Unique
Material: Crystalline lattice, durasteel, Force crystal. Stored in a granite casket.
Description:
As Master of First Knowledge and on the Jedi Council, Phylis Alince has been the chief archivist and librarian in the Jedi Order for years now. Her obsession with knowledge and learning can easily be cleaned by the studiousness by which this holocron has been prepared.
Preparing the holocron itself was not an especially difficult challenge as she was in charge of the Holocrons in the Jedi Archives and learned of their construction there.
Interestingly, the gatekeeper seems to have retained a fair amount of her personality, meaning that it can be a little vague or prone to going on tangents. It will not allow anyone access if they have a Dark Side aura, and will severely restrict access to those outside the Jedi Order.

The contents of the holocron is an assortment of Force, historical and other entries. Some of them are rather eclectic, others are extremely practical.

  • Instruction and philosophy of Form III (Soresu) lightsabre combat. As one of the (if not the) most proficient exponents of this form in the galaxy, Phylis has a lot to teach about this. Contained is detailed background, philosophical discussion, instructions on positions and movements, and warnings of what to avoid.
  • Instruction and discussion on the merits of Force barriers and shields. She goes into considerable detail about the abilities which can create these barriers, how to maintain them, and what their limits are. Also included is a mis-indexed discussion on the nature of Sith burial obelisks. This was probably accidental.
  • Discussion and application of telekinesis for a Jedi. Whilst by no means the greatest in this art, she is extremely proficient nonetheless and her observations and suggestions are quite incisive.
  • Instruction and creation of lightsabres, with special emphasis on choosing the correct crystal and ensuring it is properly seated.
  • Theory and suggestions on interpreting Force visions and foretelling in general. Though not able to use the Force at will for such things, she has had precognitive visions in the past, and offers a studious guide on how to interpret them without being beholden to them.
  • Discussion and instruction on the use of mind-tricks, how to defend against them, and using the Force to influence others.
  • Discussion and information on imbued items, Sith artefacts and other enchanted items.
From this point on, the entries are more scholarly and informative.

[*]Brief biography of herself and her family, her rise to be a Jedi and her history afterwards.
[*]Discussion of the entity known as OMNI, the 400 year darkness, and the history since the revival. Her information here in the latter part is 1st hand. She devotes a considerable amount of time to discussing the major players in the galaxy, their actions, and the consequences.
[*]Discussion on the Sith Empire, its numerous and often short-reigning Emperors and Empresses, a discussion of the fundamental flaws in their system, and finally their collapse. Her entry is highly critical of the theory that the Sith voluntarily ‘returned to the shadows’ on the grounds that it is an illogical decision no true Sith would ever take.
[*]Discussion of the Republic, it’s numerous Chancellors, the Jedi Order, their combined victories and failures. Finishes with a description of the fall of Coruscant, and how surprising this was considering the large Republic military presence which was somehow avoided.
[*]Discussion on the other major players in the galaxy, including biographical notes, images and recordings. Passing reference is made to a Siobhan Kerrigan, the subject of more coverage later.
[*]Theory and philosophy of archaeology. Being the galaxy’s foremost expert in this field, Phylis spends a long (and probably less than exciting) time discussing the methods and basics of archaeology. Also included is a list of her digs and key finds.
[*]A discussion of the Rakata, the Infinite Empire, and their history, using a variety of sources.
[*]An in-depth description of the Eldorai race, their actual history, and key information from the Arithdae Codex. Discussion of the race, their rulers, and their involvement in galactic policy. Added to this is a discussion of a certain [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"] and her constant failures to seduce Phylis.
[*]A philosophical treatise on the flaws of the Sith and their code, the failing of the Dark Side, and the application of the light side for a strong galaxy. Not for beginners!
[*]A rather random inclusion of a recipe for Naboo wafers. Regardless, the results are tasty if made right!
[*]Discussion on the concept of alternate timelines. Phylis has often been ‘blessed’ with visions of different times and places where she lives, but often different versions of her, different people and places.
[*]Finally there is a personal, locked section, where Phylis discusses her innermost thoughts. Some of these might be rather surprising!

This is more, but most of it concerns minor items of historical trivia such as her obsession with Levitation in the Pre-Tythonian Era, a work which no one else has ever used except as a door stop, or an insomnia aid.

Hmm, yes, I have completed the sentence.

So that's where that obelisk bit went? Ah well...it will do no harm there. Did you know that the Sith Lord Darth Anguish's steele contained *rambles on*

You may have a copy of my work if you wish! It's an interesting study into the pre-Jedi order days of levitation applications of the Force. The key point here is *rambles on more!*
