Vendaxa
Mountains

It was almost night on Vendaxa. Everything was peaceful, well, as peaceful as a planet filled with deadly monsters could be. The only noises that could be heard were those of the native animals hunting and the cold night breeze whistling.
''Perfect.''
Said Yasuo when he looked at the great plains of the planet that were revealed by the last bit of sunlight. He had landed a small ship, which he borrowed from a friend, on a single high mountain, that luckily had a small flat area near the top which was great for landing ships on. From there he could see much of his surroundings and was that way able to spot any beasts or other visitors that might have found him and were now trying to get to him. But for now, he just sat down and meditated. He wasn't too keen on fighting at the moment and everything he wanted to do was just meditate, enjoy the scenery and train his skills with the Lightsaber a bit. This mountain was perfect for that, since it was so isolated and quiet, and Yasuo enjoyed being alone when meditating. He didn't mind the company of others when he was out having fun or training, but when he was meditating, he preferred to stay alone. Before he started meditating however, he took out his flute and started playing an ancient song, passed down from generation to generation in his family. This is what he usually did before meditating and it helped him relax. There he was, playing his flute on an isolated mountain on one of the most deadliest planets in the galaxy. How could anyone disturb his meditation here?

'Thirty...'

Fabula had no idea how acklays managed to maintain their balance while climbing mountains, but as long as she could keep slightly out of their reach for a few more seconds, she figured that she'd be able to get a good angle on them. Of course, that chance was diminishing with every passing second. As she leapt up a few rocks to get a better eye on her pursuers, she noticed that there were a few more of them. In fact, there were five now.

She took a deep breath and kept climbing. 'Twenty-three...'

One of them managed to get a good claw-hold on an outcropping and lunged up at her. Fabs bodily flipped to the side, grabbing its blade-leg in the process and swinging around it like a pole. With that momentum and the Force coursing through her legs, she kicked very hard with both legs, sending herself flying like a slug shot out of a gun...and cracking the unfortunate monster's chitin in the process. Fabula landed perhaps thirty feet away in a handspring, then again in another five feet upright. The unhindered acklays were already changing their trajectory.

Fabula's hand subconsciously strayed to Alna Merrill's toolbelt, feeling for her lightsabers as a comfort reflex. 'Seventeen...'

The rocks got a bit looser as she neared the top of what looked to be a large ledge, gravel that gave out beneath her shoes. Unfortunately for Fabs, it didn't seem to be any deterrent to the creatures coming up behind her. When your legs are shaped like swords, it's apparently much easier to gain purchase when climbing a rock face. She'd have to remember that in the future. For now, all she could do was keep moving up and hope for a solid rock to push off of. To her favor, the Force seemed to be melding with her adrenaline; she was not meant to die here.

That was nice, but she hadn't planned on dying even if the soul of this world tried to devour her whole. 'Twelve...'

Another surge from the predators climbing behind her almost took her out. As one of the acklays charged up and lunged at her with one weaponized leg, Fabula slid to the side, losing her footing at the same time and winding up sliding back down below the monstrosity. Her reflexes, thank the Force, kicked in before she got much farther. She grabbed one of its back legs and pulled herself onto its back, using the momentum to slingshot up to its head...which she subsequently used as a stepping stone to get back to where she was going.

'Eight.'

Another few meters and she found what she was looking for, almost directly below the ledge above her. A small, flat rock that looked to be solid enough for her to properly kick off of. Taking a deep breath, she focused her strength one more time. In the past, she would have begged the strength of the mountain, asked the spirit of the planet to lend her its aid and channeled the Force through that prayer. Now, she didn't need any of that. Her own body was her battery. The movement of climbing a mountain made her her own perfect conduit for all of the power she would ever need.

Her legs smashed into every rock along the way, then finally the one she wanted. 'Five...'

Bunching her muscles, Fabula shot into the air, directly over the ledge and further still. Rising like she'd just jumped off the galaxy's strongest trampoline, she had plenty of time to guesstimate the rise, the hang, the fall... was that a ship on that ledge? And a man. Well, apparently she wasn't alone on this planet, and now she had another motivation. She couldn't let any innocents come to harm because of her insane training regimens. Every one of those monsters was about to die in screaming, burning agony.

She felt gravity take her again. 'Four...' Fabula reached to her side and pulled out both of her lightsabers igniting them as she fell. 'Three...' As she started to get closer to the mountainside, she slung one arm around her body with a power that could only come from a Matukai understanding of her muscle groups. 'Two...' Her entire body spun like a disc, her orange blades of light forming a deadly ring around her waist. 'One...' Of course, she had to keep her spirit broad, attuned to the world around her as she fell. She couldn't exactly see where she was going.

'Now!' There was a feral scream as Fabula landed, whirling blades and all. Her feet found stability much more easily this time, but she didn't wait to figure out exactly how she'd managed such balance. The first acklay was in several screaming pieces; it was time for the rest. Between gravity and the Force in her legs, Fabula charged back down the mountain at a speed that the human body was not designed to travel at. Every few steps, she spun into another slicing maneuver, leaving a trail of dismembered predators behind her.

And when she was done, she slid to a perfect stop on top of the fifth acklay's corpse, panting for breath. Her hair hung sweaty in her face, and she hadn't bothered with her stance any more. After a moment, she turned to look up to the ledge to make sure whatever madman was up there hadn't come to any harm.

After a while of meditating, he was interrupted by screams. The screams of acklays, the beasts native to this planet, and they appeared to be getting closer. Could they have sensed him? Maybe they picked up his sent after the wind had carried it through the air, or maybe they had some different kind of sensing their prey that was unknown to him. The only thing that mattered now was how he would defend himself from those beasts. He did have a height advantage, but not much experience fighting creatures like the acklays, which would make it even more difficult. He had a hard time dueling against other humans, so how would he be able to fight of what seemed to be a pack of acklays?

He wanted to step closer to the ledge to get a look at how many of the bests were climbing up towards him, but before he could do that a woman shot up from underneath the ledge. She was spinning through the air with lightsabers in her hands. The blades were a burning orange that illuminated the night in a small radius around her. And then as quickly as she appeared she fell back and was hidden from his sight again. Who was that? A Sith? A Jedi? Something else entirely? He would find out sooner or later, since now he was able to hear the screams of the acklay, who would now be the prey, instead of the hunters.

He stepped closer to the ledge and looked down. There he saw the woman slashing through the acklays as if they were nothing. If it wasn't for her blades, he would have probably only perceived her as a blur moving at a very high speed. After a couple of moments all the acklays were dead and the woman stood on top of the last one she had killed. Then she looked up, probably because she had noticed him earlier on, when she jumped upwards and past the ledge and then fell down again. Only a couple moments after he had realized she was looking up at him he asked the first thing that came to his mind ''Hello? Are you okay down there?''

Well now, this one seemed pleasant! That was a nice change of pace from the last random person she'd found lurking on a deadly world in the middle of nowhere. Fabula deactivated her lightsabers and replaced them on Alna's toolbelt with a single fluid motion before she responded. Well..."responded." She wasn't exactly the type to yell, so instead she simply waved her hand over her head and quickly transitioned into a deep bow.

Her walk back up the mountain was much easier now that she didn't have to avoid naturally-evolved bioweapons trying to kill her every two steps, and it didn't take her the full thirty seconds that it did the previous time to launch herself up into the same leap as before, over the man's head. She landed behind him with a quiet thump, then came up in a low bow. Her voice was as meek and quiet as ever, despite the fact that she'd just murdered half a dozen apex predators six times her size. "I'm sorry for the disturbance. Please don't worry, you weren't in any danger. I simply didn't expect anyone else to be out here."

In the middle of nowhere on a world that was designed to kill humans? Maybe Fabula could've been forgiven for not expecting company there, but Force help anyone trying to convince her of that.

She felt out with the Force as she'd been teaching herself to do, less because she was worried about this one and more to reinforce it as a reflex. Her last few encounters had been with Sith. It tended to be a good idea to know who you were dealing with, and if this crazy man happened to be Force-blind, then it was effort spent teaching herself a good habit, rather than effort wasted on a false lead. But...he was definitely Force sensitive. And she didn't smell the stink of the Dark Side on him. That was good. Fabula really preferred it when she didn't have to brutally eviscerate someone before lunch.

When the woman suddenly shot up in front of him, he got his confirmation that she was still fine, at least it seemed like she was. He'd have to ask again when she was finished with her bow. Yasuo had not expected to meet anyone on this planet and he guessed whoever the woman was didn't expect anyone either. It was a pleasant surprise though. The woman didn't seem to be a blood-thirsty Sith, which was always a plus when dealing with a Jedi. Her bowing gave him incentive enough to bow himself, after all, he was not some ruffian who would just let a lady bow and not return it. So he lowered his upper torso and bowed himself. ''No worries. I didn't expect anyone to be here either, though I do have to thank you for saving me. I don't think I would have been able to defend against all six of those beasts.'' He admitted. He had confidence in his skills, but he was sure he have been able to defend against the Acklays, let alone survive them. They would have most likely just ripped him to shreds and flung him around if that woman wouldn't have appeared out of nowhere and saved him.

With a blink, Fabula turned to look back down the mountainside and stared for a few moments as if in deep thought. She was actually counting. Had there been only six? She'd remembered more when she was in the foothills. Maybe some of them had given up the chase, or maybe they would hang around and find her and her new friend later. She shook her head after a moment and turned back to face the man who was being far too grateful to someone who had just endangered his life.

"There's no need to thank me," she responded with a weak smile and what almost looked to be a blush in her cheeks. "They never would have come anywhere near you if they hadn't been following me." Her hands came up in a "back away" motion, but she didn't move much. She'd just burned quite a few calories, after all, and it was a little dizzying to consider the prospect of running back down a mountain.

She thought to distract the topic instead. Fabula normally wasn't much for conversation, but she was trying to get better at it. Her voice still managed to barely crawl above a whisper, so it was a fortunate thing she was standing at conversation distance. "What brings you to a place like this? Most people wouldn't consider Vendaxa an appropriate planet for a casual stroll." Of course, she wasn't "most people." She'd come out to Vendaxa for exactly that reason...and had been there for two weeks, to boot!
