Tibera finished another drink, feeling a buzz starting in her head. She was at the point she like, balanced between drunk and sober. Were it possible to stay this way constantly, she'd probably do it. It was at times like this she could finally let her mind go. She decided if there was any of these oddballs she wanted to get to know, it was probably him.

"Tall, dark, and mysterious eh? I can get that, some people do better when they're quiet,"
Tibera said with a confident smirk, she was not one of those quiet mercs. She was more than happy to talk about her life. "Now me on the other hand, I do not do quiet. If I'm gonna do wetwork, I'm gonna make sure the bastards see me coming!"

If there was anything the soldier girl was confident in, it was the strength in her arm, both figuratively and literally. She was aware of being a wall of muscle, and she took pride in that. If others didn't see her that way, then that was their issue. It was that confidence that let survive her own recklessness.

"So what kinda problems do you solve? Those dreary eyes of yours look like they've seen someone crossed off before. Of course, if you'd rather talk about more pleasant things, I'm sure we could find something to talk about that isn't as heavy..."

Kieran listened quietly while Tibera spoke, his attention drifting down to the worn duffle resting against the leg of his stool. It had been beside him since he'd stepped off the ferry, unremarkable enough that most people never gave it a second glance. Inside, packed neatly beneath a change of clothes, sat the respirator, the launcher, the sword and the rest of the tools that belonged to another part of his life. His eyes lingered there for a heartbeat before returning to the conversation.

His fingers traced the condensation gathering around the blue cocktail. The liquid caught the light in strange ways, bright enough that he still wasn't entirely convinced it should be considered a drink.

"I've found people. Escorted them. Pulled them out of places they didn't want to be." He shrugged. "Occasionally stopped people who were making life difficult for everyone else." Nothing he said was untrue. None of it was the whole story.

When Tibera offered the easier path through the conversation, he took it without hesitation. "I'd rather talk about something lighter." His gaze drifted out across the water.

Bars were loud, emphasizing wordless communication. The way that Kieran took inventory wasn't lost on Tibera. He looked like a man with a painful past, there was nothing wrong with that. Pain like that screamed silently to those who knew how to hear it. People like them were contradictions, strong in some ways, but with an underlying fragility. The last thing Tibera wanted to do was risk breaking into something old and dead...

"Lighter I can do, this is a place for drowning ghosts, not resurrecting them," She said, standing up from the bar. She ordered one more drink, something a bit less potent this time. "Come on, we've got a little light left in the day, let's enjoy it."

She offered a large hand to him, a small knowing smile pulling at her cheeks. She'd taken quite the shine to this Kieran fellow. War hawks could still be birds of a feather it seemed...

The sun was starting to move towards the sea, casting it's amber rays onto the water. Shimmering waves crashed gently into the shoreline, people went about their vacations as if they had the whole world to themselves. That was the beauty of places like Spira, everyone was in their own little bubble. Concerns were about getting drinks and meals, not ducking blaster bolts and watching out for the next guy looking for a meal. It was hard to conceptualize for Tibera, finally she could lower her guard just a bit.

He looked at the hand she offered, then past it towards the beach where the last of the daylight stretched across the water. Let's enjoy it was not much of a plan in any practical sense. It offered no destination, no objective and no clear measure of success.

Perhaps that was the point.

Kieran took her hand and allowed her to pull him from the stool. Once standing, he collected the neon-blue drink and slipped the strap of the worn duffle over his shoulder, its familiar weight settling against his side.

"All right," he said, looking from Tibera towards the amber water. The faintest trace of an awkward smile returned. "You'll have to take the lead. I'm still learning the rules."
