The Old Guy Sent Me

The quiet of the room allowed the woman to overhear bits and pieces of their conversation from the other side. First Varus, then Darius. A light smirk found its' way to her face as Varus asserted that he was not selfish with his time. I don't know if I'd go that far...She thought to herself. It was true, he never did seek out students to train, and much preferred his time spent on his own terms, or in her metaphorical hair. Sera had trained a number of Padawans, though she wasn't sure where most had ended up after leaving her. She laughed when she heard Darius' comment about finding a place nearby, but not too nearby to stay in the meantime. It was entirely likely that both he and Varus would hear it from the other side of the wall, but she simply couldn't help it.

Sera reached out to Varus with her mind, lightly pressing her way in. Seems like he thinks your quite the provocative type, what with that display when I came through the door and all. Good first impression for your new student.

"Both positively and negatively, in fact.", Varus said as he glanced over to the young man again. "Your death could arouse the dark side in her... it could crush her... she could feel your force slip away or even empower and enrage her.", he said as he tried to explain the best way that he could.

"The Force works in many misterious ways, my young friend. The way that it effects us depends on what lies beneath. What kind of hearts we possess.", he told him as he heard Sera's whispering through the force.

Am I not the provocative type?, Varus whispered back to Sera in reply with a light smirk. When he did he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small pouch with a few hundred cred inside. He eyed it for a moment before tossing it towards Darius, knowing it wasn't much and he wasn't in need of it really. There was plenty he'd put away in the bank after years of service to the Republic. "Take this and get a place far enough away that you'll have to commute about five minutes each time you come to see me.", hinting that he wanted him to stay close, but not nearly that close.

"We'll start tomorrow."

"Your death could arouse the dark side in her."

Darius frowned, though he tried not to show his displeasure. Varus had only answered his question, and he didn't want the Jedi Master to think he was unhappy with him. Knowledge on the bond had been scarce, given the fragmentation of the different orders, and more importantly, the fragmentation of the archives each controlled. To hear that it could affect Kinsey in such a way was...disheartening. If such were true, then the same could be done to him were she to fall into harm's way. Of course, even without the bond, he would be unsure as to how he would react if she were harmed.

Probably not well.

He caught the credit chip underhanded. The padawan fell silent as he examined it, held his tongue as he spied the denomination, and pocketed it. In any other situation he would have refused it, but Darius' coffers had run empty over the past month. "Thank you," he murmured, "Five minutes? Alright, I can do that."

The padawan cracked a thin smile. He might have heard part of the exchange between Seraphina and her beau, and then he might not have. More like he was reading lips really.

"I'll be ready, Master Shatterstar," he pushed up to his feet and bowed, "I'll try not to bother you too early." a hint of amusement laced the boys' words as he made his way for the door. It was time to go house hunting.

How do two Jedi Master's even do -...no. Not thinking about that.
