OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
After the sudden and violent collapse of the Core Imperial Confederation, subsequent war across the galaxy which manifested in the Second Great Hyperspace War, and a new regime taking hold of the system, the government of Nyeon was in chaos. The oligarchy which had ruled the planet during the reign of the CIC became a mess. An overreliance on the Corps of Imperial Engineers, CIC government bonds, and numerous contracts which defaulted had brought the once massive Super Corps. of Nyeon into bankruptcy. When the CIC came, these corporations had seen it as a prime opportunity to scavenge for as much knowledge, power, and favor as possible. This led to over-reliance on the Imperials, and subsequent collapse.
These corporations, which already had massive sway over the oligarchy of Nyeon, tried to scramble for a way to fix the situation. Bribes could only go on for so long until bankruptcy ended all of that. With the end of the flow of cash, came the end of the corporate-fueled, corporate-led oligarchy in merely years. As that same oligarchy cracked and began to fall into pieces, the Nyeon Security Bureau stepped in. Secret police, comns tapping, communications interception and spies allowed them to gain control of the situation through sheer force of knowledge, blackmail, and coercion.
With the oligarchy ousted, a new government entity was created: The Nyon Pass Corporation. Foolish choices by idiotic corporate dogs had led to a near total collapse of the economic structure of the world, and that would never happen again. Through acts of new legislation and the systemic "retiring" of prominent corporate officials, this new umbrella corporation came into being. While these "Super Corporations" exist still, that is in name only. The Nyon Pass Corporation holds full sway over these groups and is currently in the process of rebranding them all under it's own moniker.
RATIONALE
The Nyon Pass Corporation came about as part of a massive merger which saw the consolidation of all Super Corporation assets into one singular entity, or umbrella program. It is owned by the planetary government of Nyeon, specifically by self-appointed and verified members of the Nyeon Security Bureau.
