The Mandalorian Job (invite)

The crew had just broken into the vault and were loading their gotten gains before making their escape. Daxton obtained the ship logs he was searching for, while the mercenary grabbed some paintings and loaded up on jewelry. The team was in a hurry to get out before the Mandalorian security forces were any wiser......

Desmond threw his loot bag over his shoulder, getting his blaster at the ready again. Time was running out and his instincts were screaming that this has been way too easy so far. Best be ready for trouble.

Satisfied with his haul, he watched the door while the nautolan finished gathering her share.

All around the room, treasure of all sorts seemed to be abound, from the art works on the walls, to the piles of jewelry stacked in careless heaps, there was even a small mound of stacked and packed spice. Even the battle droids, which from the look of them were post Empire design, looked well maintained and in fully working order. There were still some locked boxes in the rear, but cracking them would take some time, time which was rapidly running out for them if they dallied any longer.

Daxton seemed to rummaging through some locked boxes in the back, while the mercenary was stuffing art and jewels in his loot bag. If she didn't get a move on soon, she might get left behind and spend the rest of her life in some Mandalorian prison.

Leynko finished her survey of the room quickly and started loading up on the free jewels. She didn't linger there though, and soon she was standing on a crate behind one of the droids. Years of experience got her into the memory core, and thanks to the earlier distraction, she was able to easily pull out the main processor. "This might come in handy," she chirped, slipping the battle-hardened core into her satchel.

Noticing her companions finishing as well, she moved to the door, hefting her gains onto her back.

In their hurry to exit the vault, they failed to notice one final safeguard that was in place. The area had a secure pressure lock, one that automatically tripped when the seal of the door was breached. By the time the group was heading for their getaway vehicles, a silent alarm was already screaming an alert to the local authorities.

It was one thing to plot a heist in any sector when you had to worry about local authorities - it was an entirely different matter when the local authorities were Mandalorians. Suffice to say a trial of your peers was not in the cards when you tried to beat feet after lifting goods on Manda'yaim. The alarm had alerted a local outpost and, the communication had spread enough to alert a few of the Rally Masters in the area. Among them - Azrael. The bionic half-blood wasted no time in mounting one of the Snake Eyes Tumblers; fitted for repulsors instead of wheels. Dust flew as the bike rocketed towards the location with a host of his vode. A read-out in his helmet giving him second by second real-time analysis of the situation, and what their satellite read-outs were giving them. Azrael breathed a command and opened up a party line with the other Mando'ade that were intending to intercept and put down the fugitives fleeing the scene.

::Cut them off at the over-pass. Their direction indicates a starport on the outskirts of Keldabe. Flank'em and I'll go in front. :: The young Rally Master radioed to his patrol team as he shifted direction and came at an angle. Raising the protective dome over his form, he pushed the throttle and headed towards the confrontation. Weapon systems armed on the tumbler primed as he watched the readouts for the first sign when they would come into view.

Adenn Gra'tua had heard the order to cut off the thieves at the overpass, and he intended to do just that, racing towards the overpass he checked his railgun "gotta hurry so these chakaar don't get away" he said now checking his jet packs readings and preparing to fight the thieves "I hope I'm not going to be the first there..." He dodged a speeder "even though I was the fourth person to leave..."

Desmond secured his package to the side of his speeder and climbed aboard, almost giddy with his find. The more he thought about it, the less inclined he was to actually sell any of the paintings, but the jewelry would move easily on Nar Shaddaa. A nice, tidy profit once they were off world.

So far, everything had gone smoothly, but it was always best to be prepared. He slid his blaster carbine into a holster near his bike's control console, easily accessible if he needed it mid flight, and made sure he could easily reach the few concussion grenades he'd brought with him on his bandolier. Really, who went to a robbery without a couple grenades?

He took off into the air with his co-conspirators, eyes up and alert for any trouble.

As the thieves got on their vehicles, the comm man suddenly reported on the secure radio. "Boss, we got possible inbounds. Picking up encrypted chatter on my box, six maybe seven minutes tops."

"Damn it. Red isn't going to be happy about this." Daxton replied. "You two make a run for the space port, you know the exit plan. We will draw them away from you and egress on the alternate exit point. Radio me on the secure frequency when you are ten minutes out so we know you are close to the egress point. Got it? Go!"

Daxton waited for the pair to make their escape before turning to his partner and said, "Ok looks like Plan B is a go."

Like zooming insects they pointed their high performance bikes in the direction of the towering concrete jungles of the downtown district in an almost parallel direction as the group heading to the space port.

Adenn Gra'tua was almost at the over-pass, so close to stopping the thieves before they got off world with the items that they have stolen, Adenn checked his shotguns ammo -just to make sure they were loaded- and almost hit a food stall, scaring the pedestrians standing near it "sorry!" he called back "need to pay more attention to the road" he was now very close to the overpass "those thieves better not get away"

Leynko glanced up at Daxton's comments as she secured her gear and fired up her cycle. "Encrypted ... What? How did they know?" she responded, lifting up her datapad to review the security protocols. For a few moments, she seemed more intent on finding the security failure than actually escaping.

The roar of Desmond's cycle caught her attention and she glanced back up at Daxton. "Huh? Oh, right ... Sorry," she said, making a few last taps on her pad, shifting controls to voice. She then lifted off and following Desmond.

"I think I can hack the local flight control network and wrangle us a distraction or two if we need it," she said to Desmond before shifting her coms to speak directly to her datapad. After a series of commands and technospeak, she was connected to the aerial fly-by-wire network that kept the streams of airspeeders and spacecraft from crashing into one another.

"You see anything coming out way?" she asked, glancing around as she tried to keep pace with her fellow thief.

Adenn had made it to the overpass and saw in the distance the thieves speeding in his direction. He took out his railgun and aimed "stay straight" he said following @Desmond Voralis speeder he charged up his railgun and fired. Adenn missed "shab" he said climbing back on his speeder. He turned it on and jumped in his speeder down to Desmond. He then pulled out one of his Mandalorian rippers.

"Not yet, but that doesn't mean they aren't coming. What kinda distraction you got in mind?" his voice crackled with the distortion unit Daxton had given him, even over the commlink.

They rounded a corner, coming at an overpass almost head on. Before the nautolan could properly respond to Desmond's inquiry, the mercenary spotted something out of place. A lone Mando, standing dead still on the bridge and what was that in his...

"Ah, blast it. We've got company! Watch out!" He jinked his bike suddenly to the right, a railgun shot narrowly evaded. He yanked back on the throttle for more speed, eyes following the gunman. But instead of another shot, the Mandalorian jumped onto a bike of his own, preparing to chase them.

"I'll keep this one busy, stay ahead of me and do whatever it is you've got in mind," he took one hand off the controls, grabbing up his carbine and twisting his upper body sideways to spray a burst of fire at their newly acquired tail. Aiming wasn't entirely out of the question, but under the circumstances all he hoped to do was keep him back far enough they could lose him, a direct hit was going to be exceedingly unlikely. He fired a few more shots, doing his best to track the other bike while aiming one handed and speeding along, but he could only spare a few seconds before he had to focus on his flying once more, diving between a pair of commuting vehicles for a bit of temporary cover, then climbing up between layers of traffic once more.

Leynko glanced around wildly for the source of the danger and dodged her speeder clumsily. Spotting the Mando jumping onto his own bike, she gunned her throttle to keep up with Desmond.

Glancing ahead once more, she glanced at the various strings of speeders and picked one to divert. With a few vocal commands, she created a false traffic jam and re-routed upper flight-path 76B down to merge with 43Z. This would cause a string of air vehicles to intersect with their path.

"Hit your thrusters!" she insisted. Desmond would just start to notice the flightpath above them suddenly breaking off a few hundred meters ahead and starting to snake down in front of them.

Desmond didn't need to be told twice, risking a quick look back at their pursuer before gunning his engines hard. He raced to get his bike out in front of the descending traffic that would, hopefully, cut the Mandalorian off long enough to buy them more distance.

Of course, that would all come down to just how well the Mando tailing them could fly...

Adenn raced after @Desmond Voralis as he sped past oncoming traffic "oh no yo don't" he sped up pursuing Desmond. Adenn flew through the traffic ending up next to the thief he shot at "how convenient" he said sarcastily. He rammed into Desmond's speeder sending it to the side. He pulled out one of his Mandalorian rippers and aimed.

Leynko cursed inwardly when the diversion didn't work. Seeing their pursuer catch up and bump into Desmond, she pulled out her holdout blaster. Slowing her speeder to wind up on the other side of the Mando, she made a quick examination of his vehicle. She then dropped underneath him and fired at any vulnerable components.

"Sithspit!" Desmond cursed as the Mando caught up with him, his voice warped and mechanical past any chance of later recognition. He fought with his controls after the side swipe, before slamming his bike back at his pursuer, giving him a quick taste of his own medicine and just maybe throwing off his attempt at aiming.

He kept his bike turning inwards against Adenn's, trying to steal the initiative back before reaching over with his left hand to try and make a grab for the ripper before he could line up another shot.

Just gotta keep him busy...
