Cedric Grayson

It started with minor irritations during his meditations. At first, they were easily written off as eccentricities within the Great Oak's ancient mind. Then they had developed into something more cognizant, and he had called for the priests. The leaders of the church communed with the Great Oak alongside him, and experienced these eccentriticies in the same manner that he had. His hypothesis confirmed, Cedric called for a seering.
The bioluminiscence of the Great Oak colored the chamber in soft blues and cyans as the congregation gathered. Every force sensitive housed around the Graywall was present, all their minds intermingling with the Oak's consciousness. United as one, the fragments were quickly pieced together, and a vision was brought forth unto them. A massive vessel of war hung between the veil of the void and reality, lingering upon the place of their meeting as if it were balanced on the edge of a knife.
The soothesayers debated for several days on its meaning. One of the priests, a novice in every right, suggested that the ship might be sending some form of distress call out into the empyrean. That suggestion was dismissed initially, but after more deliberation, it was generally agreed that it made the most sense.
With the Oak's guidance, a ritual had been prepared. Garbed in the traditional black robes of Ession, Cedric walked alongside a throng of men and women dressed in similar garments toward the courtyard of the Graywall. There they sat in a circle that encompassed the entirety of the yard, and began to commune with the Oak once more.
It was theorized that if those aboard the ship had the ability to reach out to the Ashlans, perhaps they could reach back. As the ritual began, a faint shimmering ray of golden light began to form at its center. As the priests focused upon it, that ray grew ever larger, and its vibrancy ever more impressive. It only took a few minutes of focus for the light to form into a beam that stretched up to the very heavens and into the void.
For a moment. navigators with a sensitivity to the Force across the galaxy would feel a beacon reaching out to them across the void. It was Cedric's hope that whomever might be on that ship would see the beacon as well, and use it to guide themselves home.
