OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
HYPERLANE INFORMATION
  • Hyperlane Name: The Levantine Spur
  • Hexes Crossed: 9
  • Start Coordinate: AN-17 (Etti IV, Corporate Sector)
  • End Coordinate: AP-31 (Hagron's World)
  • Route Points:
Etti IV - a major world in the Corporate Sector
  • Tabaqui - a minor jungle world
  • Laekia - former capital of the Levantine Sanctum; former home of the Levantine Astronautical Academy, a space station which has been relocated
  • Kyrikal - a system of moons inhabited by Ithorians, Mon Calamari, and (secretly) Fallanassi, among others
  • Hagron's World - a technocratic democracy of Krevaaki

HYPERLANE CHARACTERISTICS
  • Speed: Average
  • Accessibility: A peripheral galactic government used this as its primary artery for years, and it connects to a plethora of lanes at the Corporate Sector, so it's fairly easy for your average spacer to find.
  • Route Hazards: With the Levantine Sanctum's collapse and the Silver Jedi Order's abandonment of the territory, law and order is extremely scarce out there. Old Levantine Frontier Corps veterans keep the nav beacons current, but you never know what you might encounter between beacons: unknown aliens, pirates, scavengers, neebray manta swarms, mynocks, risky distress beacons...
  • Rest Stops: There are some long solitary stretches. Etti IV, Hagron's World, Laekia, and the moons of Kyrikal are all good safe ports, but anywhere else - even Tabaqui - comes with risks attached. Tabaqui is a pretty good example of the kind of low-population, low-regulation, barely-charted planet where you might need to pull over. You might go a little way offroad, so to speak, and land at Midvinter, Caeliar, Tygara, Eisei, or Kelsier - some of which are safer than others.
DESCRIPTION
The Corporate Sector anchors a variety of important hyperroutes, some recent and others ancient: the Hydian Way, the Casseiopeia Corridor, the Zaibatsu Express, the Keeta Run, and so forth. It's fairly close to the endpoints of the Perlemian, the Daragon Trail, the Silver Iron Way, and the Mara Corridor. But all of those routes make their way toward civilization, gently or steeply. The Levantine Spur is the only one that heads implacably out.

Created by Jorus Merrill and friends many years ago, the Spur was the backbone of the Levantine Sanctum, a non-interventionist confederation of remote worlds. Explorers and wanderers like the original Vagrant Fleet, [member="Seydon Gunn"], @Jaxton Ravos, [member="Judah Dashiell"], and [member="Rosa Gunn"] called the region home.

When the Sanctum merged with the Silver Jedi Order, much of the Spur was forgotten. With only a few exceptions - Tygara, headquarters of Firemane; Midvinter, home of a Jedi dynasty; Kyrikal, headquarters of AEI; Kelsier, a source of stygium - the worlds around the Spur faded into insignificance. The Levantine Astronautical Academy's students used the route for years, as did interplanetary trade involving the bustling Kyrikal and Laekia systems. Even after the LAA relocated for safety reasons, the Spur remains usable and well-maintained. Any trip to that arm of the galaxy will use the Spur for at least a little while. It's the closest thing the region has ever had to a super-hyperlane, even if it's not fast at all.
