• Deflects blasterfire like traditional Sith swords.
• Can absorb lightning like traditional Sith swords.
• An excellent chopper, forward-weighted, capable of parrying heavier weapons if used properly.
• Low-level dark energy trap enchantment can anchor/slow/immobilize targets, enabling glancing blows to connect more concretely.
WEAKNESSES
• Short. The blade is only 46cm.
• Force Light can damage or destroy the sword.
• Quite heavy for its size, despite its good balance.
• The dark side of the Force is strong around the sword, easy for both Jedi and Sith to perceive unless concealed in some special way.
• Not optimized for stabbing or thrusting.
DESCRIPTION
This short one-handed sword has a 46cm forward-weighted sheepsfoot blade, suitable for both slicing and chopping. The slight forward slant allows for hooking techniques if used properly. Moran modeled the sword after an ancient Korun jungle-clearing tool and named it after the legendary Korun warlord Kar Vastor. Its hooked and textured brylark-wood grip will not slip from the hand regardless of how bloody one’s work gets. It has a minimal crossguard that barely deserves the name. The edge, painstakingly treated with high-grade Svolten rhyolite, simply refuses to roll or chip no matter how much mundane armour it shears through. The broad brylark pommel is fully as strong as most metals and suitable for striking, even against hard targets.

This is not the kind of magic sword one wears to invoke pyrotechnics and strange weather. One wears this sword for the express purpose of chopping things that very much need chopping. To that end, Moran included an experimental enchantment based on a watered-down Sith dark energy trap enchantment. As the weapon is a split second from connecting with its target, the dark side of the Force will grip the target (typically someone’s limb or head) and slow it down or anchor it, allowing the blade to connect in a more solid way. This innovative effect gives the chopping banyal a greater chance of shearing through rather than delivering a glancing blow. It’s especially useful against highly mobile enemies who may find their rhythm and speed modestly impeded, similar to a hand grabbing a limb.
