The Iron Horse
Name: The Iron Horse
Classification: Saloon & Grill
Location: Nar Shaddaa, "Little Corellia" (Corellian District on Nar Shaddaa where many smugglers and former Corellian Military relocated after the destruction of Corellia).
Affiliation: NPC Owned and Operated - Skrell Host ( Human Male, 59 years old)
Description: The Iron Horse is housed in a large free standing structure. The outside of the building is standard durasteel construction but over the doors, the durasteel has been covered with wood, a throwback to an older time, an older place. It is located a few blocks away from the market square, smells of the local food fare wafting easily down the wide street at its entrance. Inside the venue are pegs lining the wall sharing the southern door. There are two main levels with a basement below. The first floor is wide open, wooden tables and chairs occupying the large open floor. A mahogany bar lines the Northern wall, shelves of liquor on the wall. To the Northwest Corner, there are some card tables and dice tables. On the eastern side of the room is an ornate staircase leading up to a balcony which circles the entire room. Above there are various rooms on the outer wall, presumably dwelling spaces. On the North wall, there is a small reinforced security door, behind which is a small room containing cameras and security system equipment in addition to a small employee lounge. On the eastern wall, behind the ornate staircase is another small open door covered by strands of beads. Behind that there is another medium sized room referred to as the "Party" room. This room appears to be a private area, complete with a mini-bar on it's southern wall and outfitted with lounge furniture and its own sound system. Using advanced audio technology, there are some small sound buffers mounted on the sides of the door frame to prevent audio spillover from either room into the other.
History: The Iron Horse was established in the Corellian District aka "Little Corellia" on Nar Shaddaa. It was established as a laid back joint with an old world style. It's been owned and operated by the same man for near 30 years. Skrell Host, a Corellian merchantman. He had moved here 32 years ago, part of a band of 3 Corellian smugglers who were on the run. They'd decided to put down roots and try their luck at living on The Smuggler's Moon. Their first acquisition was a small, rundown spacer bar called "The Starport". They'd bought the location from a Trandoshan who couldn't have been more happy to get rid of the place, the location was rundown and absolutely filthy. When the trio bought it, they were simply looking for a way to blend in, avoid being tracked down by their former employer but by the end of it, Skrell had become somewhat of an emerging businessman. The other two of the fated trio had kicked the bucket not a half decade after buying the joint. The two hadn't given up their ways and got caught up bad with a group of Rodians who didn't particularly appreciate their shipments getting nicked. The two met their fate and Skrell lived on, having not taken part in the pair's venture. He had vowed to be nothing more than a bar owner at that point, tending explicitly to his venue. He kept that promise for a long time... almost 20 years... and then he started running a few small ventures aside from The Iron Horse, using his bar as the collection point and operations center for his small time smuggling operations. Skrell usually is able to keep everything separated, only using The Iron Horse as a money drop off point, laundering money through its books as it gets delivered by enforcers he's hired.
Skrell keeps order with a snub nosed heavy blaster rifle mounted on a hook under the bar, and by practicing some basic rules. Somehow, he managed to enforce the rules, eventually hiring on burly Zabrak named Marcus. He kept order on the outside, and Skrell kept order on the inside. It was a well known rule to the locals that their blasters were to be hung up on pegs by the entry before any liquor was served. It must have been his charisma, but the patrons seemed to respect the elder man. Skrell was getting old, but he still worked most nights, except when his arthritis flared up, on those nights he'd let Marcus run the bar. Marcus would then contract a few of his friends to watch the outside, they system they had served them well and thus far they'd managed to keep out of trouble and keep anyone from outright killing each other inside the venue.
Intent: To create a "Chaos" canon location from which to launch other threads and as well to provide a location with some "Old World" flavor for others to stage their threads.
