OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Army Name: The Imperial Army of Zhilaseraya.
  • Classification: National army.
  • Affiliation: Czar Mirkov Tirantov
  • Army Symbol: Two ceremonial blaster rifles crossed over an image of the Imperial Crown.
  • Description: The Imperial Army of Zhilaseraya is a large standing semi-professional military that acts out the will of the Czar. It is notorious for its poor equipment and relatively harsh treatment of enemies. It is comprised mostly of quickly trained, poorly equipped conscripts who earn their worth in combat and supported by a backbone of gruff veteran NCOs and uncompromising officers.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: The capital district of the mega-city Gratazkh on the planet Zhilaseraya.
  • Goals: To keep the peace in their homeworld and do the Czar's bidding.
  • Reputation: Among the Czelosmertian people, the Army is seen as a rite of passage for men. Considering Zhilaseraya is often embroiled in civil wars or conflict with the mountain dwelling peoples in their planet, there is always a constant need for soldiers. The army is greatly respected and choosing to staying career military is seen as a highly respectable, but arduous occupation for men to undertake. The Army itself can easily be described in three unique ways: Under equipped, battle hardened, and heavily laden with a "ends justify the means" attitude towards the enemy.
  • But for its detractors it is poorly trained, cruel, and liable for war crimes. The Zhilaserayan Imperial Army is quite notorious for its treatment of the guerillas and non-affiliated mountaineers during times of civil war, but from a Czelosmertian point of view they see the treatment as justified considering the frequent terrorist attack methods of the guerilla cells back in the civilized megacities where most of the Army calls home.
COMPOSITION INFORMATION
  • Army Size: Medium in peacetime. Huge during a time of war.
  • Composition:
IMPERIAL ARMY COMPOSITION
The Army's doctrine for divisions is to utilize Infantry divisions comprised of only 2-3 thousand men per, but with many divisions per Army group. This allows for divisions to be moved and shuffled around to support each other during attacks, but can create confusion from too much unnecessary micromanagement in large scale attacks.

These many infantry divisions are in turn supported by force multipliers like tanks, artillery, and special units, though very few they may be. Most of the Army's budget goes into its force multipliers, with the mass bulk of their forces, the conscripted infantryman, getting left with little to no armor or advanced weaponry, usually just a uniform and a rifle.

The Army has three main types of Army compositions:

INFANTRY CORPS.
The Infantry Corps is one of the frontline Army groups and most common in the Zhilaserayan Army. It is an Army group comprised of mostly mainline infantry units supported by artillery and tanks with several auxiliary battalions for logistical, engineering, and medical support.

15 Infantry Divisions, comprised of conscript infantry that can number anywhere from 2-3 thousand. Little to no force multipliers, if some divisions are lucky they will be afforded equipment to maintain a light artillery company.
5 Guards Rifle Divisions, divisions of roughly 1-2 thousand grizzled combat veterans given better equipment and support and are usually cybernetically augmented.
5 Tank divisions of 60 or so tanks varying in model per division. These are usually heavier tank designs that are to be put in critical areas of the frontline for defensive purposes and to be used sparingly in assaults.
3 Artillery Divisions, comprised of 50 artillery cannons per division. These are heavier cannons that are hard to mobilize.
3 Anti-Aircraft Brigades, with 2-3 SAM sites, 20 anti-aircraft laser batteries, and several anti-aircraft infantry platoons using man-portable anti-aircraft launchers.
1-2 Penal Divisions comprised of criminals, deserters, cowards, and political dissidents who repay their debts to society in the field of battle. They are used for manual labor to assist the engineers corps, scout troops to test the front line, and in any way to save a commander from losing some of his "true" soldiers.

MOTORIZED RIFLES.
The Motorized Rifles is an example of one of the Army's assault groups used to spearhead assaults. Less common. They are typically much smaller than an Infantry Corps

5-10 Motorized Rifle Divisions, comprised of 1-2 thousand men accompanied with APCs and IFV support.
5 Guards Motorized Rifle Divisions, divisions of 1 thousand grizzled combat veterans given mechanized support and are usually cybernetically augmented.
3-5 Tank Divisons comprised of light to medium tanks anywhere from 70-80 in number, used in fast moving assault operations.
2 Mobile Artillery Divisions, comprised of 100 or so lighter laser cannons able to move with the army they are supporting.

SHOCK ARMY.
Elite frontline infantry armies supported by heavy artillery, heavy tanks, and special forces. The Army historically has never been able to support more than 3-4 of these. They are designed to break a frontline, no matter how well defended.

10 Guards Rifles, divisions of roughly 1-2 thousand grizzled combat veterans given better equipment and support and are usually cybernetically augmented.
5 Guards Tank Divisions, divisions comprised of heavy tanks and assault cannons, usually 30 per division.
3 Artillery Divisions, comprised of 50 artillery cannons per division. These are heavier cannons that are hard to mobilize.
1-2 Cetnika Special Forces Battallion, elite troops used in irregular warfare. Not typically attached to larger Army groups but in large scale assaults will be attached to the Shock Armies crack especially hard defensive points and incite chaos behind enemy lines.
1-5 Penal Divisions comprised of criminals, deserters, cowards, and political dissidents who repay their debts to society in the field of battle. They are used for manual labor to assist the engineers corps, scout troops to test the front line, and in any way to save a commander from losing some of his "true" soldiers.

MISC ARMY CORPS -

IMPERIAL GUARD.
The professional, highly trained troops who protect the Czar, the Dukes, and their families. They are former special forces and combat veterans afforded some of the best gear. They are less than 300 in number.

NAVAL INDEPENDENT GROUND STRIKE SQUADRONS.
The Imperial Navy of Zhilaseraya is in stark contrast to its Army, afforded much less men, funding, and equipment. No one expects an actual invasion of Zhilaseraya due to its hostile atmosphere most races cannot breathe, so there is not much sentiment amongst the Nobles to strengthen the Navy. However, the funding that is afforded cuts heavily into the ground support roles of the Navy.

There are 10 Independent Ground Strike Squadrons that rotate as needed between all the Army Groups. This would probably leave them stretched quite thin in an all out war, but in anti-terrorism ground attack roles they are enough in number to be effective.

Each squadron has roughly 30 strike craft with multirole fighter capabilities and 10 dedicated bombers.

PLANETARY DEFENSE CORPS.
The Planetary Defense Corps was initiated by Czar Mirkov the First, the current Czar's grandfather, who wanted to find a cheap alternative to a defensive Navy to defending the skies of Zhilaseraya. He built 15 Super Laser Cannons across the major megacities in Zhilaseraya, able to prevent orbital strike or mass orbital invasion over almost all of the inhabited areas of the planet. The Planetary Defense Corps are about 5000 men strong, educated soldiers who know how to operate and maintain all of these Super Laser Cannons.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
[ Include a description of the army’s history. Who started it, how and why it was formed, modus operandi, any events tied into its creation and existence, prior allegiances, notable battles, etc. ]

The Imperial Army of Zhilaseraya was created in 111 BBY, formed by Czar Kirov Gulatni after he decreed that all noble levies and armies were to be nationalized under a common banner and under control of the King. The army, only 20 years after its inception, faced its first insurrection of many. A general revolted against the Czar, and led his men into the mountains. The fledgling army underwent its first test in the mountains, where it spent a grueling 3 year civil war in the mountains until it had rooted out the general hiding in a cave system.

This pattern repeated itself in Zhilaseraya as the mountain people, the Gorasmert, became more and more independent and rambunctious. Every other generation, the mountain dwelling people would rise up against the Crown in complaint against the working conditions, for desires of more independence, or simply out of spite. Each time, the army would gather more people, and the mountaineers would get more crafty. This repeated for centuries, with the army becoming more cruel in response to the guerilla like warfare and deepened cultural hatred of the Gorasmert.

This continued to modern day, where when the predictable war flares up, the guerillas' terrorist attacks become more cruel, and the army's war crimes more evident.

Doctrinally, the army relies on its massive amount of infantry, with force multipliers that are organically attached to their large army groups. Due to Czelosmertian's short life span and their high value on family and children, the Zhilaserayan Crown always has a seemingly infinite conscript pool. While the army has never truly engaged in a war where it needed to expend such a large amount of infantry, and not just extended guerilla conflicts, it is entirely ready to do so.

That being said, the army isn't led by idiots, the tacticians and generals that lead the Zhilaserayan army have no delusions of grandeur, neither are they infatuated by the idea of becoming historical icons. They, like the rest of their race, hold no idealism in war, just like in every other venture of their lives. And many of them are educated by foreign military academies. They realize that despite having a reserve of millions, it is not economical to throw waves of men at the enemy, but sometimes it may be necessary.

The generals, however, are probably more eager than they should be to test out their war game plans.

I think you forgot to remove this from the Historical Information section when you put this incredibly well written submission together :)
