OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: The Ikate Keda
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins: Keda Planet, Galactic North West outside unknown region. Destroyed.
  • Average Lifespan: Biological Decay ends in early Adulthood, though it was uncommon for them to live longer than 75-150 years.
  • Estimated Population: Semi-Unique
  • Description: Large, Bipedal, raptor-like reptoid species. Black, white, and grey colouration. They have Degitigrade Legs, a tail as long as they are tall, horns, and quills around their head that extend down their spine and along their tail. Large claws, Talons, and Teeth. Bone plates are formed over the front of the abdomen in an intricate overlay.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Standard Hydrogen/Oxygen atmoshpheres
  • Average Height of Adults: 1.82 meters/6'0"
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: White and black scales.
  • Hair color: Primarily black quills, sometimes white neck quills.
  • Distinctions: Between individuals of this species, there was very little variation in looks and appearances. Males were typically larger than females, with larger, thicker bone plates along the chest. They are similar to the Ssi-Ruu, only with a far more humanoid silhouette than the similar reptilian species. They all bear the same general colouration, and it would be difficult for one not of the species to point out a specific individual from a group.
  • Races: N/A
  • Force Sensitivity: All
Strengths:
  • Apex Predators: Their cardinal identifying senses are highly tuned. They are built to hunt in dark, cramped places, and with pits under the eyes can see Infrared Spectrum as well as Standard Colour Spectrum. Their sense of hearing and taste are also highly tuned, able to pick out, and even imitate sounds they hear around them.
  • Unarmed Fighting: The species evolved to fight with tooth, talon, and claws. Fighting one in a fist fight is strongly discouraged, as their range of movement, speed, and reflexes, coupled with effective natural weapons make it difficult to handle them.
  • Force Sensitive: The Older an individual of this species is, the more force they are able to utilize, if they have the training to do so.
Weaknesses:
  • Lights and Loud Sounds: Hightened senses have their flaws. The Ikate Keda's mastery of sight and sound sensitivity is as great a boon as it is a curse. Loud, sudden sounds, and bright flashes of lights can easily distract them at best, immobilize and incapacitate them at worst.
  • Near Sighted: With their evolution focusing on making them as dangerous and effective within arms reach, they lose effectiveness the further away their target gets. It is incredibly difficult to fight what you can't see, and the further you are from them, the harder it is for them to see you.
  • Force Sensitive: The older an individual of this species is, the more force assaults their mind. Without the training to control it, their minds can easily be overwhelmed with information driving the individual to insanity if they do not learn to harness, or lessen the effect the force has on them.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivore: Fresh or Carrion
  • Communication: Capable of speaking most languages, their native language is an aggressive, gravelly string of chirps, screeches and growls. It would be possible for a human to speak it, but impossible for them to speak it fluently due to the slightest nuances that can be made, which can change the entire meaning of the sentence or even word being said.
  • Technology level: Galactic Standard.
  • Religion/Beliefs: Had a strong faith worshipping the Force, and the inevitable death it would cause if they were not slaughtered in combat before that. Suicide was uncommon, due to their belief it would bar them from the afterlife they suffered for.
  • General behavior: Naturally they are aggressive, and while technologically quite advanced, socially, most species would classify them as barbaric. They were governed by very few laws, and had a very pessimistic, utilitarian way of looking at the world.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
On the Galactic scale, the Ikate Keda's impact was null for most of their existence. They didn't leave their system, developing resources and building up their power, before they quite explosively began to expand. Their attacks were sudden, unexpected, and brutal, with the main goal of destroying a planets ability to communicate and fight, as quickly as possible, before moving on.

However, mistakes were made, ships managed to get away from their fleets, and managed to get word to as many neighboring planets as possible, allowing governments to mount a defense and slow the Ikate Keda down enough for more planets to group together and assist. Once the War became more even, more planets joined the fight against the Ikate Keda, viewing them as fanatical and zealous in their quest to dominate as many planets as possible, and a decision was made that they were too dangerous to be allowed to continue to exist. So, they began plans to wipe them off the face of the galaxy. This could have been one such event that spurred the creation of the Old Republic.

The Ikate Keda's Fleets, overwhelmed by the sheer numbers and force of this alliance formed of necessity, were pushed back to their planet, and it was subsequently glassed. After, any stragglers of the species were hunted down and slaughtered for fear of them coming back in another part of the galaxy and restarting their conquest. Soon, they became nothing but a rumor, and then a legend, and then they were forgotten. Every so often word of one being seen would float around in the darker circles of the Galaxy, but nothing ever came of such sightings.
