The Hydian Way [CryptNet Supported]

OqSCeq2.png

Corporation Name: The Hydian Way

Headquarters: Nar’Shaddaa

Locations: The HoloNet [The CrypNet]

Operations: “Free” Illicit Trading

Rationale: To create the first of its kind galaxy-wide trade networks, specializing in black market wares. And also a way for Jen to get her hands on cheap drugs for personal use.

Jennifer and some of her slicer “friends” created The Hydian Way, as a means to explore the possibilities of the newly invented CryptNet, that she created as well. Therefor she have easily been able to set the site up, using both her coding abilities, but also the experience about the inner-workings of the criminal underworld she have gathered throughout the years, from having literally been raised through childhood in one of the most powerful syndicates to have ever existed.

The Hydian Way is officially owned by EXEC, a handle Jennifer have created and only uses in relation to The Hydian Way, in order for her slicer identity to not get linked to the business. The site is easily run by herself and with the occasional support from a few select slicer friends.

Tier: 2

Description: The Hydian Way is a virtual marketplace that deals in all wares imaginable. However, due to the nature of the site the largest part of the sales carried out on THW are of nefarious nature, with the largest percentage of the sales being drug related. THW is a HoloNet site that is a ghost service, using the CryptNet client for encryption and access. This ensures that all buyers and sellers on THW are relatively anonymous. This also means that you can only access THW through the CryptNet.

The site trades in normal digital credits and offers currency exchange with a tiny fee attached. At launch of THW the site offered 250.000 vendor accounts up for auctions spread across week intervals during a one year period. This made the process of acquiring dealers that were tech savvy, relatively easy and spiked a customer boost. After the initial vendor-accounts were sold, vendor accounts was from here on out able to be bought for a 500 or 3000 credit fee, with the 3000 fee giving the status of “VIP” vendor. This enabled the VIP Vendors to have their products featured on the marketplace. In order to keep the marketplace safe, buyers (which have to make an account as well, though it is free) can rate and comment on the various vendors they have bought from in order to judge their reputation.

Vendors can also mark where they are selling, which makes it easier for people looking to buy, spice for example, to see if there are any vendors in their locale area of living. No moral codes are applied to the site, meaning it trades in all wares imaginable, however, it is made clear upon signing up that the site holds no responsibilities and under no circumstances can be held reliable for any legal actions taken against a person should they be caught selling/buying illegal prodcuts.

It is also important to mention that the site is anonymously operated and is not marked as a legal company. Thereby hiding the identity of its owners.

A small percentage of all sales (along with all the other fees) made on The Hydian Way goes to Jen, known only by the handle EXEC on the site. Parts of this pay goes into upgrading and maintaining the server room that keeps the website stable, but also to some of Jen’s slicer friends that helps keeping the site running.

The Hydian Way was made as a way for Jen to get a share of the spice market, without becoming directly involved. The name of the company is a play on the major trade route that goes throughout the entirety of the galaxy, as the site also allows for free trading among many solar systems and planets. The site however, is also named in dedication to the founder and former vice-president of the now long gone Red Ravens.

I really, really like this.

The 'Rationale' section for a company includes more potential material than a tech sub's 'Intent' section. 'Rationale' should also include how and why your character is able to run this critter. Give me something around the size of your first Description paragraph and you should be good to go, from my perspective.

Thanks! Appreciate the kind comment a lot. :)

I have now added a more complete rationale chapter. Please do tell me if there's anything else I need to fix. :D
