The honor and art of combat (Vaulkhar)

Vengeance smiled taking a step back and leaning back letting the horizontal swipe pass only inches from him. As soon as it did he stepped forward his hand going up to catch Vaulkhar's wrist as it came down for the downward slash. He smiled his face only six inches from his Apprentice's

"Keep your mind about you Vaulkhar." "Some times it is best to dodge an attack you are not sure you can block." "In sweeping attacks there is a chance you can close in on your opponent taking away a reach advantage they may have."

Assuming it worked just as he finished speaking Vengeance would let go a shoot back a few feet. he would then assume a defensive stance.

"Now it is your turn to attack and I will defend."

[member="Vaulkhar"]

Vaulkar's attacks were blocked with relative ease by [member="Vengeance"], which did little for the young man's confidence. Shaking off the negative thoughts he nodded at his master's words and moved towards him slowly. He circled around Vengeance, seeking some sort of weak point to attack, but there was nothing that he could see directly. He shrugged his shoulders and stepped in for an attack.

This time around he avoided any sort of sweeping blow, opting to keep things neat a precise, to avoid as many openings as possible. First he did a short swipe before him gauging the distance between the two before following up with a thrusting motion towards his stomach. He once more reversed his grip upon the hilt, twirling his lightsaber slightly in another downward slice, though this time the area aimed at was short. Instead it was aimed from the collarbone down to the naval.

Vengeance watched the short swipe shaking his head. [member="Vaulkhar"] was telegraphing his intention like a six hundred foot Hutt. The thrust was simply side stepped not even bothering to bring his saber up to block. The slice missed entirely without any need for doing anything as he was no longer standing where he had been.

"You are missing the point of the form Apprentice." "Never telegraph your move." "If you are not withing an arms distance of your opponent then you are not withing saber range." "Your weapon is an extension of you."

He paused.

"You first attack should be to test your opponents defensive." "The second should be used to push your opponent into the third one."

Vaulkhar nodded as he stepped away from [member="Vengeance"], listening to the man's words in silence. He remained stoic, mentally going over how he was supposed to do as suggested. The concept was easy enough, but putting into practice was another thing entirely. The young man mentally considered various attacks he could put into motion as he took another step back, putting a few between the two of them. He raised his saber and swept it side to side as he gauged the distance between the both of them once more, but it wasn't in an attempt to attack. After a moment of consideration he nodded to himself.

This time Vaulkhar took a short step forward, moving within a distance that kept them at saber-length apart. First he sliced at a diagonal angle towards Vengeance, aiming from the right side of his waist upwards towards the center of the chest. From there the apprentice stopped short and pushed forward slightly, aiming a vertical cut downwards once more. From there he surged forward in a sudden vertical cut upwards, reversing his attack entirely.

Vengeance smiled taking a step back leaning back from the first slice. He then slid left and forward spinning around to the outside of the second vertical cut.

He smirked his left leg kicking out to sweep one of Vaulkhar's leg. As he did he brought his saber up to drive the hilt into his Apprentice's stomach. Even then he didn't stop continuing the spin until he was behind Vaulkhar. Vengeance then kicked out attempting to plant his foot into his back pushing him forward.

"You are still only focusing on a single angle of attack." "In doing so you make it easy to dodge and avoid."

Vengeance held back stopping the assault and leaping back putting more distance between him and [member="Vaulkhar"] giving him a chance to recover.

Vaulkhar was hit from so many directions in such a short period of time that the young man thought he was facing multiple opponents simultaneously. As his leg was swept from beneath him, he managed to catch himself from falling, but it resulted in him stumbling forward to take the hit in the gut. The air was slammed from his lungs and his eyes widened from impact, only to once again be hit. The foot of [member="Vengeance"] hit clear in his lower back, sending him stumbling forward and crashing into the ground. The Acolyte sat there momentarily, breathing in short gasps, eventually slowing to his normal breathing rate. He stared up at the ceiling while listening to Vengeance speak, considering his words greatly.

"I had thought Makashi was purely swordplay. I had not even considered angling and direct contact with means other than a light saber."

He pushed himself to his feet and returned his attention to Vengeance. He was not angry, nor agitated. The blind man had expected to face a rather rough time against his master, and was prepared for the beating he had just received. With a quick shake of his head, Vaulkhar surged forth, light saber held firmly in his grasp. This time around as he neared Vengeance he took a sudden step to the left and swiped right horizontally, aiming to cut across his chest. He followed that move up with a thrown elbow at the man's head. For his third attack, he jumped back slightly and brought his saber up once more and moved to thrust it directly at his shoulder.

Vengeance smiled bringing his saber up to block the first swipe. The elbow strike he actually lowered his head letting it hit high effectively headbutting Vaulkhar's elbow. The thrust he shot in own attempting to grab his apprentice's wrist. He then tried to crouch drive his shoulder into Vaulkhar's stomach lifting up holding onto the wrist. He would try and lift the man up and over to plant him on his back before disengaging.

"Makashi is a dueling form." "To win you use the weapons available to you." "Not just your sword, but fists, hands, shoulders, elbows, knees, legs, feet, and so on and so on."

Vengeance deactivated his saber with a smile and a nod.

"You are doing well [member="Vaulkhar"] one day you may even best me." "That is all for today." "We can try again tomorrow assuming we are not called into battle."

Vaulkhar lost hold of his saber after [member="Vengeance"] managed to grab his wrist and slam the shoulder into his stomach. With a loud oof he was lifted up by his master. He was easily lifted and thrown over onto his back. He landed with a thud and a loud grunt. As Vengeance deactivated his saber, Vaulkhar simply pulled his over through utilization of the force and connected it to his belt while still upon the ground. He managed to push himself up to his feet while his master was speaking. He was glad he was doing well in the eyes of Vengeance, but the pain in his stomach and side were saying the complete opposite for the young man.

"Many thanks, Vengeance. I will see you tomorrow."

He lowered himself into a short vow before turning to depart the room.
